Oh my- I was being glib- but apparently I have a bend for Jungian psychology: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puer_Aeternus

Thanks for the link. Interesting to read. I remembered that the syndrome wasn't considered a real mental disorder from my studies way back when (the couple of years I spent in college before quitting, I was majoring in psychology).

Dakota, got a link to that webcam?

Sure!

http://www.avo.alaska.edu/webcam/Redoubt_-_CI.php

Sunrise is about an hour from now. The estimated ash cloud height so far is 50,000 feet ASL. Should be cool-looking when the sun rises - I hope they didn't overestimate!

ETA: That's 15 - 15,000, not 50,000. I'm slysdexic. Should still be very cool to see, though, ha!

Hey there Jerboa, don't get too excited.
For years I was looking forward to a mid-life crisis. I thought for sure it meant getting a bright red sports car and a hot young girl friend. I finally had mine and all I got was a beard, and to top it off the damn thing came in grey.

Grey?! Oh nay nay... Just For Men, baby. :D

Although, luckily, so far grey is staying away from me. (mostly)

Now lets talk more about what men in mid-life crisis can get away with....

For one person I know it is marrying someone 20 years younger than he is.

Thanks! (it didn't look so dark on my computer)

Did I say boots? I meant boobs! LOL

no really. I like big clunky boots.

I removed the "And they seem perky too!", but that didn't seem to go with "boots", so I edited that one out.

Oh, and I like the darkness of the picture. Makes it seem like it really is 1950 or something (um, no I do not picture the 1950s as dark . . . I just meant old picture . . or something).

The pictures on my laptop always look "bright enough" until I look on my work desktop computer and realize how dark the pictures are.

I lost 30lbs a few years ago. A little flab in the love handles area but nope...no manzier (or was that a bro?) needed.

C'mon people....I want a crisis worth having here!

I wonder that about your weekends all the time. I keep thinkin you have a time warp or time traveling machine hidden somewhere.

Mari, fab weekend and great pics. the snails look so cute. love your 50's dress too. :) not sure why, but i would have expected LL play land to be tidy and decorated marvelously. ah well.

Thankoo, 3Ring!

The snail races are a lot of fun, an they are super cute. You should see 'em when they blink! RacerX does a weekly race 'round 11:00 a.m. on Saturdays. Well worth checkin out some time, I tink.

The dress was one I've had for a while, but dun often get to wear. It was about as close to 50s as I could find. There is almost no "vintage" kidswear out there. You can find victorian some times, but 30s/40s/50s/60s/70s? forget it.

In going through the Linden Village area of Sansara, well, it feels a little more maintained than a lot of the mainland, but still a hodge podge. Some of them do know how to build, but I suspect a lot of them don't -- an prob'ly don't get a lotta time to do stuff cuz they're working. Which is what we want them doin' anyway, instead of messin' around with some land no one gets to see.

Here's a more overview image:

Now there *is* another spot that is much more "tidym" an that's LindenWorld Lobby. It's more of a place designed for Lindens to take Residents for private meetings an stuff. Last and only time I was there was for the "SL5B" discussion. It looks like this. The sharp eyed will notice that the statues standing out front of that place are the big Starax Achilles ones, which gives you an idea of the scale of this place.

Thanks for the weekend update Mari.

Yer welcome!

While I'm at it, I'm gonna indulge myself an post three more from the weekend. New places to explore!

Pteron

Super pretty meditative space. Seems to be some mystery and backstory, but is mostly just outstanding decorations and views. Really nice. Take your time and just explore it.

KIC

The Kids Information Center. A place for SL kids and those interested in what SL kids are. Home to the transmogrifier from Kids5B as well as a Second Life Children "learning tree" and other goodies. Well worth exploring, prob'ly best explored in a younger appearing avvie!

Polly Jean

It's an offshoot of sorts form the Floyd/Llody/Harold/etc. sims in the Starlust group. The landscape is dotted by giant retro style builds containing funky stores. I really liked the homewear store hidden in that big radio -- all old 50s style stuff. Lots to see there overall. Wah, I want those sorta funky stores in Bay City. Near me.

/me is home sick and has no energy to post :(

I have a wedding to go to tonight. I'm so not in the mood but I can't blow it off, it's a dear friend of mine - neighbor from my first land. Might just make a quick appearance for the ceremony and bail early tho. Blah. Thankfully they aren't making a big deal out of this, just a casual get-together, but still, I feel bad if I don't stick around. Guess I see how my energy level holds up but right now I don't even have the attention span for the TV :o
