From: Tod69 Talamasca Is it wrong of a 39 going on 40 yr old to ask out a 19 yr old on a date??? Not a "date" date. Just a "I'm so f**king bored with sitting at home on weekends" date that I'd ask out my own mother" She's cute, a bit "hefty", but I have NO alterior motives. Its just a "go out for fun" thing. BTW- I also feel like Poop! Since last Thursday, I have NOT had a cigarette due to a cold. Thank you, Snus! BUT in the last hour?..... 2 cigs. I would've appreciated the comeback of taste & smell BUT.... I have a cold!!! I cant taste nor smell anything!!! My first gut reaction pop-psy answer is - "Do you really need to ask? What the hell can the average 19 yo offer an adult intellectually? Assuming average adult, btw- also- offense taken to 'hefty' on behalf of all women, hefty or otherwise- shows immaturity, illusions of self image and don't get me started of "no alterior motives (sic), I'm just plain bored'. That part says she as a person has no more worth to you than an hour in front of the tv. Why are you putting down this person we don't even know? A little self analysis right now as to why you feel SHE should want to go out with YOU, might be in order. And yes, that was all harsh and completely none of my business, so feel free to ignore or berate as you see fit- if it gets you thinking. While you are thinking, recall too, you are fresh out of a relationship with another woefully mis-matched, age-wise person. You might want to consider why you are seeking out women that much younger than yourself. You are too young for a midlife crisis, so doubtful that's it. OK- stepping away from couch now and looking for coffee- the doc is out, leave a message. And Tod, kidding aside- not purposefully being mean, sometimes we all need mirrors and sometimes relative strangers can see things we ourselves miss.

From: Pserendipity Daniels Hmmm, Amaranthim, a "friend" asked me to ask you how old you have to be to have a midlife crisis?
Pep (Not that I am personally interested of course . . .) I had one at forty. Fifty was nothing. Fifty was a relief. It was a quick one, though. What happened was that it was early in the morning, before work, and I broke a jar of jam on the stairs. They were carpeted stairs, and while I was cleaning up the mess it struck me that it was my birthday, and not only that... but SOB! I was FORTY! and look at me! cleaning jam out of a rug early in the morning... It just all seemed so cosmically wrong. My husband came down and listened to my tale of woe and then he said, "You idiot! You're thirty-nine today, not forty! Can't you count?" And that was the end of my mid-life crisis.

From: Brenda Connolly McD's has put out a new line of coffee recently, and it's actually pretty good, not as good as White Castle, which has fabulous coffee, but not bad either. Okay... I tried McD's coffee when they first switched to Paul Newman's a couple years back, and the first day it was GOOD. I tried it again a few days later... it was just okay. I tried it a few days later and literally poured it into the gutter. Maybe they clean the machine when they change brands. That's the day to go.

From: Tod69 Talamasca Actually thats good to know! May 26. Will happen. God help us all!!!!!!!!!! Considering I never did any type of drugs or anything, I'd have to say cigs are the toughest thing to give up. Especially if you roll yer own. Get a prescription for Chantix from your doc -- it costs about $100 per month, but if you smoke a pack a day, you are spending that money anyway. I started smoking at the age of 10 -- yeah, earlier, rough neighborhood growing up. Anyway, I tried quitting 5 times before and never made it past 6 months. I then used Chantix and have now been quit for roughly 1 1/2 years. And yes, many will tell you that it is the hardest addiction to beat.

Pep (And is there a top end to the crisis window as well?) I do think a man is less likely to break a jar of jam on carpeted stairs, so yes... and there must be a top end, otherwise it wouldn't be a MID life crisis, but it must be a smushy boundary, something like the Middle East.

Pep (Not that I am personally interested of course . . .) 36-41 Too young before, too old after. Based on life expectancy statistics. Your midlife crisis might vary. Might be around 50 if you come from a long line of people that reach 100 years old and then immediately drop dead.

From: Tod69 Talamasca I wrote to WC to ask WHEN they'll put one in the Pittsburgh area. They said they expand when they have the $$$. After eating their frozen microwaveable burgers, I can only have a happy wet dream about how frickin' good their actual burgers are!!! DAMN YOU WHITE CASTLE!!! COME TO PITTSBURGH!!!!!!!! YOU ARE THE CRYSTAL METH OF BURGERS!!!!!!!!! Those frozen things do no justice to a real slider, so you probably would OD if you had one. I'm surprised there isn't a castle in your area, you figure they would have been a hit back in the steel mill days. Before they moved in up the road here, a few of my friends and me toyed with looking into getting a franchise, but they are alll company owned.

Hey, there's a volcano erupting in Alaska!
It started overnight, though, which means no pics yet. I'm on a site with a couple of webcams pointed at the mountain but it's still to dark to see anything. Wait til down...I bet it's gonna look cool.

Me + White Castle = I've never seen the appeal. *shudder* Midlife crisis .... hmmm does this mean new kewl shades, dressing like a 20-something, and buying that new sports car, or harley? Maybe I should sign up for that.

From: Jerboa Haystack Me + White Castle = I've never seen the appeal. *shudder* We all have our 3AM, bars are closing gotta have grease before bed favorites. Some it is Jack in the box, or Taco Bell. Or maybe the Truck Styopper or burrito from 7-11. Besides, half the time I don't even order burgers any more, White Castle has these fabulous Chicken Rings. And if you get them fresh, their fries are top notch as well. And the thickest , most brain freeze inducing shakes on the planet.

Good morning everyone! I stayed home today, bad throat thingie. Had every intention of sucking it up and going to the office (I'm very dedicated and payroll had to be run) but realized that I'd better nurse myself instead, so here I am. Feels like a walnut sittin in my throat. I've been through this before, nearly every year but usually get it in the winter. I really thought I'd missed out this year. Oh well. Will sit home, keep warm, drink hot things and enjoy the day off. Party last night was fantastic! Loved seeing everyone in their retro outfits and the music was great. Had some newcomers there too which was nice to see. One last thing... Thanks Amara for that wonderful response to Todd. I think yoiu hit the nail on the head in every way. Sometimes, strangers are useful in helpin others see things which they are not able to. I share all those feelings you expressed. As for Todd? Take some time away from relationships for a while, that's my advice on top of Amara's. A little self-discovery would be a useful thing right now considering how much you've been through recently. And if you could stay away from the cigarettes? Think of all the extra cash you'll have available to spend on some fantastic dates when you are ready to take that leap again. And BTW, as a woman with a little extra padding? I've never had any trouble getting dates, or having men find me attractive at all. As my mom used to say; "There's a pot for every cover" Beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. Beauty, comes in all shapes, sizes and colors
