I really don't like Blackie at all. I use to have a rottie named Dawg.(I let my kids named him...) Bad idea Obvious names are obvious....

When we got our black cat, my kids were older and had an odd sense of humor........... the cat's official name is snowball.

I had a big fat tabby cat years ago with 6 toes on each foot, and 1/2 a tail. Her name was Unique (I didn't name her, the guy I was with at the time did, it was his cat). She was the bane of my existence at the time - every night would try and rip up the carpet at the transition strip between the bedroom door and hallway to get our attention.

I think for the 3 years we lived in that apartment, I didn't have one night where I slept straight through the night

Snowball is the name of the black cat on the Simpson and i've always thought that was a fantastic play! you is funny!

Here is another from last night, but elsewhere - this was an amazingly ethereal place full of marvelous flowering trees. It was quite laggy (many sculpts) so we didn't explore it all as yet.

Hey! That just made me think of something- Jewish woman with foodie tendencies- a recommendation on either: easy homemade gefelte fish or prepackaged yummy alternative? The stuff I see in Publix (big supermarket here) is just beyond describing how not foodlike it looks-

Nobody makes gefilte fish anymore as far as I'm aware. From what I know, it's a time consuming activity. I've never seen it made from scratch (back when, people used to keep live carp in their bathtubs in advance of the event! Can you imagine!)

Most of the jarred varieties are "ok". Personally I hate the stuff and a lot of people in my extended family don't care for it either. Seems like one of those hold-over foods which just won't go away lol. But, it is part of the Passover meal and rightly deserves to be there. Nobody I know would eat it any other time of the year

I bet, however, that if made fresh it would be a whole other story. Probably IS fantastic then, with freshly grated horseradish, not that abomination from a jar (are you getting the impression I'm not big on the whole "jarred" thing?)

If you're really set on buying it made, any of the big names will do. If you're going to make it fresh, try the Epicurious website. Perhaps they have a recipe. Or try Chowhound.com They have messageboards for homecooking and you can post there and you'll get a ton of people answering you with fantastic advice (very friendly place to be - I've been a member for many years). I bet someone there will have a recipe to you in no time and if I remember correctly there may even be a Kosher board there too.

Thanks I will at least attempt a reading - My old boss of hmm- six years ago or thereabouts- his wife would make it from scratch! She told me the tale of the hunt for the perfect fish from just the right fish place - every year she wd send me a little care package of gefilte fish- the liked the beet horseradish but i hate beets- never have had horseradish other than out of a jar so i wdnt know the difference- her gefilte fish was just awesome. Perhaps that explains why when i confess my love for the stuff I am looked at strangely if everyone else has only had it out of a jar. The stuff in jars i have seen looks like some barely congealed mass of innards- blech! Hers were delicate fluffy creamy white balls of fishy yum
