Was bitten by a brown recluse spider when I lived in Florida years back. Now THAT was unpleasant. If anyone is familiar with them, they are poisonous and the bites are quite nasty to say the least. My whole right leg pretty much blew up in a days time. Damn thing was hiding in my pants leg, got me when I got to work and I didn't realize what it was until I got home that night and got undressed and noticed this gigantic welt on my thigh which kept getting larger and hotter as the night progressed. By the next day - well, I'll spare the details. Needless to say, a trip to the doctor was in order.

now that is one of my worst fears - bitten by a brown recluse. i heard the venom causes some sort of flesh eating side affect....

 This reminds me of my worst bug story. My son was about 12 years old and I was staying with him at his dad's house in Houston, while his dad was out of the country for awhile. Although we had had the exterminators out several times the house was still full of roaches. I mean it was awful. They were all over the otherwise pretty nice neighborhood. So one night we're watching tv and a really big one walks across the floor. I think we each had a can of Raid ® and we had to spray it for quite awhile before it finally was still. So then as we were trying to talk each other into disposing of the body - did I mention it was at least 3 inches long? - hundreds of tiny roaches started pouring out of the body in all directions. A lot more spraying...

Well, for what it's worth now Kaimi, those aren't roaches, they're waterbugs. Still as disgusting, still as ugly...but they weren't roaches. They're drawn inside by water, but will rarely go after food.

LOL...my new photographer friend put a couple of pictures up on his flickr of me, and is thrilled with the number of hits and favorites they've received (not very high in my book).

Shall we make his day?

Oh my god - the spider wasn't furry at all! It was covered with its CHILDREN! Several dozens of tiny spiders went scurrying off the (literal) mother ship and disappeared into the corners of the bathroom.

you just gave me chills, the willies and now i am itchy all over - and creeped out.

i can no longer visit this evil thread. *bleah*

edit: i went ahead and read, and then happened upon Kaimi's accounting. dear lord, i am absolutely freaked out now. icky icky grossed out. and scared. LOL

Good morning, threadies!

Mari, your update made me smile. I loved the bubbles pic...and groaned along with you as you sorted inventory. That hair from the Hair Fair was priceless!

I visited Tableau on Saturday, and gave those flowers the same lesson. They must be slow learners. :D Did you go into the store which had all the old folks' avvies clothes for sale? And I liked that house that was airborne, wrapped up like a present, tied with a bow and suspended by balloons!

Oooh...fireworks...oooh.

I've never tried the 7Seas fishing...but congrats on the custom fishies!

Glad you enjoyed!

I still have a *lot* to do with the inventory. I have this nasty habit of loving japanese malls. Lots of really neat stuff for low Lindens. This also means a lot of things in my inventory that I don't recall and have no idea what the name is. I have a whole lot more clothing I forgot about too. An lots of jewelry.

Fireworks! My summer season is jes around the corner. :-D

An thankoo on the customs. 7 Seas (and Neo-Realms, for that matter) is actually a fair bit of fun. Here was the scene at the fishing camp on Livingtree.

the Hairicopter. YAY! love this! :D

great update, Mari.

Thankoo! An ya, I'm so gonna hafta keep that hair handy. It even almost matches my normal color!

I'm pretty sure they were roaches. They're sort of sharper and water bugs are more round. We'd had the Orkin man out and he called them roaches. Needless to say we were seriously scrupulous about keeping everything cleaned up but these things were in the toaster oven and in the refrigerator! They were probably walking across our faces when we slept!!

I'd just like to add that in this house that I moved to with my parents in 1951, I've never seen a roach, although I have seen a couple of water bugs in the garage. In the coastal desert here we don't get as many problems with bugs as a lot of places. We do have bees living in our compost box in the backyard but we think that's kind of cool. Especially right now when the apricot tree is blooming. Since they moved in we've been putting our compost in a pit. Also some black widow spiders under things in the yard. And one of my step-daughters used to get bit sometimes by something in the night - apparently she tasted especially good because she was the only one it ever happened to...

True. I didn't want to go into the details. Suffice it to say, it was ugly but, caught very quickly. When I was at the doctor, coincidently there was a guy in the next room with the same bite that let it go too long and he brought me in to see what could happen if you neglected it.

Bad. Really, really, bad

Ok I just did. I am clear on the difference. In that house in Houston - definitely roaches not waterbugs. The biggest roaches I ever saw though were when I worked at a beef slaughter plant in Wichita, Kansas. They were four and five inchs long and they flew around in the women's locker room.
