[rant]I must admit I dislike all this "donate when and what you want" applied with lots of pressure. I prefer upfront actual charges so that I know that I am paying my way properly.
I also hate anything to do with ads, I will not buy any and I will seek to avoid any directed at me. Our lives are too saturated with advertising as it is in my opinion.[/rant]

I'm with you on ads. I can't stand the constant barrage of inanity from Madison Ave. I DVR everything I watch on TV, even if it is just a 10 minute delay so I can skip the commercials. I don't give them a look when reading magazines, and shut my eyes when driving past a billboard.

Not exactly. It is ad supported, mostly SL businesses and donations are accepted. It's just a little drama that went on a little earlier. You had to be there.

The Pearl Street mall is a very well known pedestrian mall in Boulder and most of the arts department folks perform over there at various times -- some of the best entertainment going around here, really.

You know something odd. I haven't been at SLU but once or twice in the last week or so. I have been busily making a vampire skin for guys and keeping drama free for the most part.

I am concerned with this Yahoo style forum Q&A that I have been reading about LL going to. If worse comes to worse and (Linden Gods Forbid) this forum is ever shut down I know the other is not the right fit for some that post in this thread. Not that they are not welcome, but they are just not comfortable. I move that if LL shuts down the forums as we know it and not everyone wants to move across the street that we get a free forum called "The Never Ending Thread" and mod it to feel safe for everyone at work or just safe from the drama.

Only threadies and friends that are known for cool heads and fun banter allowed.

Just an idea..

I am presently on a marathon watching all the shows from "Dead Like Me" (That old showtime series) and am on the next to last disc before I can watch the movie that is coming out. So, I will be back and forth.

Not knowing who or what was said.. without traffic nobody would buy ads. Just going to the place and giving it the stats it gets is support. Yeah, I know lots of people ask for donations but we can't all do that, right? I say showing up and adding to discussions that others find interesting and/or entertaining and brings them back to add to that traffic is supporting it.

You can have 10 people paying to support a site every month but if there are only 10 of them talking about things and no variety in topics and opinions then it is a dead dog. That is not the way SLU is by a long shot.. it is extremely popular. But at the end of the day everyone who clicks the site supports it.

I am one of those who isn't comfortable across the street. More accurately, I get acutely irritable if I read over there. When I was posting there, I found myself unnecessarily angry (in a way which I've *never* been here). If LL's forum shuts down, I'll probably just fade away into the forum night.
