If you solved one, then you already should have gifts. Solved as in found the treasure chest involved with the running stairs? That one includes a steel seahorse and a skeleton key.

Solved as in found where to say "nothing"? Well, that one just gives you a clue. I started there so I do/did not think of that as solving first clue.

I think she meant the parrot as the first one. I'm embarassed to admit I had trouble with that one. Then I looked in the wrong place for the running stairs and I think I wandered into someone's house under the sea by accident. He was very nice (and heavily armed!) about it. After the running stairs, it was pretty much smooth sailing from there - I think because I'd already pretty much ransacked the island looking for the running stairs, so I knew where everything else was.

It helps to take the guided tour.

It took me a month to finish the first clue, the running stairs one. I don't mean that I looked for a month, I mean I looked for a little bit on the day of the party, and then last night. So a few hours a month ago, and 5-10 minutes last night. I didn't find it at first because when you click on the map it says that nothing is in the residential area. So I didn't look there.

there's nothing in any "residences" meaning don't go inside anyone's house. But some things are definitely near them.

We were talking about stupid confessions in another thread, but I'm too lazy to go find it...<snip>Did YOU ever have one of those days when even the simplest task seems way beyond your comprehension? :o

My oft repeated trick is to delete the megaprim holding up my skyplatform (while I'm standing on it, of course). And, yes, it is locked; however, that hasn't proved a deterrent.... :o

Yes, but I thought that included the yard(s) and inside the fenced in areas. The place is huge. Didn't want to get boggled down in the one area said to have no treasure chests.

Details? Which one is this? Is that one where the first clue has you hunting in the room of Eyes and there are only 4 or 5 clues in total to solve? If so, I have been back there three or four times now and still haven't gotten past that room.

Miriel Enfield's Golden Cage hunt...and I guess there are just a few, but I don't know for sure because I can't find anything!

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

That would have been my first guess actually. Backlights/inverters don't usually wear out, they just go (black screen). Dim usually means a major problem in voltage regulation. That can affect the cpu/harddrive/etc and cause flu like symptoms. Will it run off AC with the battery removed? If so, I would do that to test, a battery in bad enough shape can even drag down the AC adapter. Do you usually run on battery power? How old is it? Do you usually charge it up full, and then run it to zero? Or do you run it some charge it some run it some charge it some? Oddly, running it only a little and charging it a little is worse and will cause what's called "memory effect". If you don't want the full geek explaination, it's "bad". A lap batt can still be expensive, but at least you can change it yourself. It'll cost less than a trip to a repair shop to try it and see. If you do have to seek professional help, CompUSA is prolly the worst. I've never had good luck with them, nor heard anything but complaints from others. I'd gamble my money on Geek Squad, they seem to at least be a 50/50 shot. Good luck. ;)

OK- GeekSquad is even closer to me- I had forgotten them- and ooh- next to Barnes and Noble! Oh my... I run off the wall usually- very few times off - but yes- it hardly ever goes down to nothing. Aside from that there is the issue of having screwed up vid drivers now too :( BSOD tells me so- and still have browser hijack- cant Google- can you imagine! Me- without the Google - omg... :(

I think I'm officially addicted to puzzle hunts. Thank you for pointing this one out. The second clue is more baffling than the first ;)

Amara, sounds yucky. Definitely got some kinda malware in there too. Google hyjack? that's just mean. :(

You might want to have Geek Squad install the vid card in your desktop first. That's their main sort of bread and butter. Pop in a card, install some drivers. It'll give you a chance to see if you like them and how knowledgeable they seem. It really depends on the individual employee(s) no matter who you go to. The laptop is a much more difficult challenge.

(btw, when you installed the vid card, did it have a power connector? and did you plug that in? Most do now, and it's an easy step to miss.)

I have a cage??? In your den of iniquity? oooooh. nice.

But oh, no, no, no...those won't do at all. No ruffles for me, thank you; those are for your room. :p

Do you have any silk moire fabric? Perhaps something along these lines:

I could use an Aubusson rug in there on the floor, too...it's prolly going to be kinda chilly. :D
