Who in the world would want to wear that every single day for THE REST OF THEIR LIFE?

LOL, this has always been one of my concerns about most tattoos: their permanence. That and the "ouch" factor. :p

The ouch factor is variable dependent on where on the body you have it done. As a general rule, the tighter the skin, the less it hurts. That's why you sometimes see people with those tribal bands around their arm and the band has a gap on the inside of the arm.

The best way I can find to describe having a tatoo done is this; imagine it's a cold and rainy day and you are wearing a short sleeved shirt; you are running along a path and the branches of the thorn bushes either side whip your arms as you run by. It's about that sort of level; not really pain as such.

Morning Theadites - hope the morning finds all well..

Computer info follow up.... I am on lappy still - it booted up fine this morning - still need help cause SL won't run on it at all right now...

So- I get up and boot up the PC- the one I was on last night following instructions on what to do for a good back up and drivers etc..

Guess what? PC, while it does boot up, has a completely black screen! Yay me! Not only is lappy sitting here on artificial respirators, but its buddy has gone blind! My first reaction was not anger - it was consideration of jumping out my nearest window! Sadly I live on a first floor and am lacking in windows - sliders through out the house -

So then, praying to the computer gods I risked turning lappy on (ooh nice lappy, u r so sexy lappy - sorry looking for levity) and lo and behold, it co-operated... it did however take me three tries to get into the forums. Frankly, i am afraid to get in my car right now...it's probably sitting in the driveway planning my death... If you don't see me again- you will know why...

Here's a question for you guys, relating to my security thread. How do you remember all your passwords? I've always been a firm believer in "don't write them down", but online banking both work and personal, work computer, credit card companies, email accounts, all the SL's and Wow's and Ancestry.com that charge a monthly fee.... How do you remember all those pwords? Even once, let alone, changing them periodically.

I'm feeling very overwhelmed about this. :(

You can take password security to an extream and get to the point no one can remember each seperate one.

I have a few "standard" passwords for most of my stuff, oerticularly things that realy don't matter, like flickr, deviantart, random message board and the like.

If you need to write them down, then go ahead and write them down. You can even save then in your cell phone if you want. To be secure, there is the traditional saying of "what you have and what you know." If you use some system like Vamp example, you could still keep unique passwords by adding digits before and after. 12Spock34. Then writting them down you would only need to save the numbers 12 34. And make everything Spock for this quarter. There is what you have (the written numbers) and what you know (Spock).

I use something like this for my more sensitive stuff, but I usually use a movie, song or name that stands out to me at the time. There were a couple of months recently that the word was Allegria ;)

ouch factor is actually very small, but it can get tender when they start working on the detail in one spot for awhile. The had part is making sure you don't flinch.

I do not post a lot, and today will likely be even less posting by me. There was a sudden feeling of pain in my hand last night, and it is still there. Hurts to type. So, less of me today. I'm fairly certain that I pinched a nerve or something along those lines. Fairly certain it is something in my elbow. hand is hurting, and hard to use at the moment though, instead of, say, elbow (well, ouch. everything from elbow down I notice now, but it is the hand I use most, so it is the one that keeps yelling at me).

The cell phone idea ia a good one for most people. Not for me, I never seem to able to find mine.

ouch

Ibuprofin to reduce the inflamation, but you are right; it needs to rest.

Once it is better, some simple stretching does wonders for the long term health of your wrists and hands. I hope it's just a minor little kink and nothing bad. Take care of yourself.

Doesn't go at ALL with your curtains.

(I laughed so hard at your posts about decorating your cell in the Infernal Regions. I can just imagine you rearranging Lucifer's furniture until in total frustration he kicks you out...and then you can go and bug St. Peter. :D )

Different people react differently. Some find the pain tolerable, while others have a hard time. I am in the former category. It just felt like the area was being scratched harshly over and over. Not pleasant, but by no means agony. My tattooist said that most people's regret about their first is that they went too small. Good luck!

Oh, Lexxi, rest up. I hope your hand/elbow/arm feels better soon.

my regret would be 2-fold: impulsively caving into the fad would be a personal internal embarrassment to myself, and i'd be livid over the cost to have it removed.

Lexxi , I was about to go on a rant about the Nats slapping down the Mets...again, but but in deference to you, I won't. Feel better. *Flowers*

Ditto,
I've often wondered why people would permanently draw on their bodies things they wouldn't hang in their living room. Less easy to redecorate, too :)

Woman came in for a job interview. Smart suit, good hair, and a huge snake running out of her pumps, up the side of her leg and under her skirt. Boss lady had a hard time keeping a straight face through the interview.

:)

We do live in a shallow world, don't we? Conversely, wear pants!

*nods* Just for the record I find tatoos on men equally unattractive, but it's a personal choice, just not for me. But I do look at what some women do in particular, and wonder if they give anythought to what that tatoo will look like in 10 or 20 years.
