From: Max Herzog That criminal was the very magnificent Robert Carlyle. Thank you, thank you very much. (darn, suddenly I'm Elvis) From: Claire Silverspar Ooh the canadian accent is fab. Aboot hehe Darling, I was aboot to put your bras in the boot, when I noticed that the coppers dang nab it put a boot on the car. There, mixed several together and confused everyone (and no, I wasn't talking about putting bras into footware).

From: Trout Recreant My Western Washington State accent is NOTHING like a Bronx accent!!! HOW DARE YOU!!
It's more like a Boston accent with a bit of Minnesota and a dash of Georgia. But it's tough because I'm not a native English speaker. My first language was Western Canadian, ey.
I wonder if I have a noticeable accent. It's weird - everyone here talks like me, and I really don't think of people on the West Coast having an accent - whether it's the North West Coast like me or the South West Coast like Kaimi. We life 1500 miles away from each other - there ought to be a difference. I don't think I'm being all that geocentric when I say that Our left coast accent is the "regular" American accent. Possibly because for some time now it's the one that actors use when they aren't using specific regional accents. I happen to think that Canadian (and Wisconsin and North Dakota) accents are very nice and often not that noticeable. We're talking like like Dan Ackroyd, right? http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=P_NpxTWbovE

From: Maureen Boccaccio lol. When I was living in San Diego, there was a very popular bumper sticker on lots of cars..."There is no life east of I-5".... I don't know why people think they have to state the obvious on bumper stickers..

A selection of British accents: http://www.bl.uk/learning/langlit/sounds/index.htmlThough some of these aren't really strong. Birkenhead is the scouse accent. My accent is on there too (try the aberdeenshire one...see if you can understand it )

From: Lexxi Gynoid I live in an area where everyone has an accent. It can get very confusing at times. Heck, most of my co-workers have some form of African accented English (no, I'm not being racist here, they are natives of Africa who have come to the USA to, apparently, work for my company). I have also worked with Africans, they came to the States to study and then came to the packing plant for the summer to make money. I also worked with a lot of South East Asians and Mexican nationals there. It made dinner time really interesting! I love being around different accents and cultures.

Oh, and scouse of a liverpudlian(?) accent Lexxi...Liverpool is just down the road and I work with a lot of scousers I lived around Portsmouth and South Hampton for a few years and lost my Yank accent in self defense. Then my first husband got a job up in North Yorkshire and none of us Southerners could understand some of the locals there. At that time there was also a big difference in class accents.

I was raised in the San Joaquin Valley and moved north, so my accent is pretty much unchanged and other than my pasty white NW tan, I would probably not be noticeable in San Diego. It's a generic West Coast accent. But I'm not sure anyone can really claim to have a regular US accent. It's so different everywhere you go. I think we defy definition. Although we sort of recognize a "regular" British accent, even though it changes drastically from region to region in the UK as well. Maybe they do the same for us. Hell, I don't know. It's interesting, though. At least, it's more interesting than anything else I'm stuck doing today.

I have never found "BBC" on the map. (hehe, yes, I know what BBC stands for)

From: 3Ring Binder depends on how close you lived to Charter Way. LOL I don't even know where Charter Way is. I was raised in Visalia, which is about half way between Fresno and Bakersfield in the South San Joaquin. I turned 18 and got the hell out of town so fast you could see flames from my footprints. Moved to Tacoma, Seattle, then down to Olympia. I'd be perfectly happy living here the rest of my life. Or not. I'll probably finish my career here and then go somewhere interesting.
