Everyone east of Interstate 5 have such colorful accents.

Lol. I'm east of Interstate 5 by about 1/2 mile, but I work West of Interstate 5. I'm working on getting rid of my accent, but it's tough going.

no-one should get rid of their accent. I regret it.

I love people's accents...one of my faves is scouse, closely followed by the New Yawk accent lol.

Unlike 3Ring, I'm too old to find this kind of thing funny. I did laugh quite a bit when I watched it though. And I love Cagney and Lacey.

because you involved me, i was forced to go watch! and all i can say is:

lol, the best is when our local news start to talk about trivial stuff....like a parrot that learned to talk
Or the outcome of a pie eating contest or...stuff
Almost all the local "news" people I've ever seen seemed to be more interested in displaying their own hair, make-up, and "personality" than getting and disseminating facts.

I wish ours did that but no- they have to frantically run about as if it was some desperate thing- this is Florida- no big shakes... the idiots that really do leave it to the last minute deserve to be stuck eating inedible canned goods- I mean hell, it's a hurricane not an earthquake- you know at least a week ahead of time to get ready.

So yeah- our news peeps have to get out there and get slightly moist and pretend the world is coming to an end.. oy...
My husband always thinks it's hilarious that they feel they have to stand in pelting rain with large pieces of debris whooshiing past their heads (and if possible huge surf about to swamp them). edited to add: While telling people to stay safe.

i love how now, when there is a little flooding anywhere, they put on all their rain gear and then go stand in the puddle, to make it seem ominous and threatening.... when really, it's a backed up drain or something. LOLOL

And meanwhile you get really touchy if someone like me mistakes your East of 5 accent for one of the others, like Chicago or the Bronx, right?

When I was in th U.K. ...um... 40 years ago. There was a new accent every 10 miles. It was fascinating. I do think it will be a shame if we ever get to the point where everyone is the same.

The native accent always sounds like they are incredibly pissed, believe that you want to stab them in their groin, con them, and or killed or wanted to kill their mother. Plus, they've seen it before and are not impressed.

I love accents but my ears are really bad. I really can't hear some ranges, and it seems many people's accents put them into that mumbling what are you saying? range.

What the heck is scouse?

My Western Washington State accent is NOTHING like a Bronx accent!!! HOW DARE YOU!!

It's more like a Boston accent with a bit of Minnesota and a dash of Georgia. But it's tough because I'm not a native English speaker. My first language was Western Canadian, ey.

I wonder if I have a noticeable accent. It's weird - everyone here talks like me, and I really don't think of people on the West Coast having an accent - whether it's the North West Coast like me or the South West Coast like Kaimi. We life 1500 miles away from each other - there ought to be a difference.

I live in an area where everyone has an accent. It can get very confusing at times. Heck, most of my co-workers have some form of African accented English (no, I'm not being racist here, they are natives of Africa who have come to the USA to, apparently, work for my company).

I don't have a clue who those are lol...If I'd have know I prolly would have linked that one lol.
The Partridge Family was a disgusting teeny-bopper pop singing group and TV show. It managed to survive on TV far too long.

I still vividly recall that episode of that British show where the criminal sat there shaking and saying L I V E R P double-O L. Of the top of my head, I can't recall what that series was called, though I . . .ah, Cracker. To finish that earlier sentence, though I own all but the recent special episode on DVD.

That criminal was the very magnificent Robert Carlyle.

I worked with an East African gentleman once who spoke both English and Spanish... sadly I couldn't understand him in either one...mostly I just nodded and smiled a lot-
