And at least Antonio was believable as a vampire, unlike certain OTHER members of the cast. *cough*Tom Cruise*cough*
He made a great vampire, its just that it was not true to the original story which is a bit miffing. I agree Tom Cruise was a mess, even Brad Pitt did a better job.

Don't even get me started on The Queen of the Damned movie lol

I too have read all the books and love them. Even the ones about the Mayfair witches are superb.

I know, I know! I read them all (until Anne Rice went a bit loopy) but he meant the movie version :)

Antonio Banderas and Kirsten Dunst were the best parts of IWAV.

Still shuddering from Tom Cruise and his scary blond hair!!

Don't even get me started on The Queen of the Damned movie lol

The script definitely tried to do too much in too short a time, and jacked up a lot of what it did actually address from the books, but I thought the casting was much better. I mean, Stuart Townsend wasn't very Lestat-like either, but he did the vampire thing pretty well; Aaliyah and the Jessie girl were good too, given what they had to work with.

And the music was teh awesome!

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Lol I said don't get me started...

From what I remember there was very little of the plot in the film and as you said the main character was not well cast. Granted some of the cast were OK and the music was good but all in all I felt the film was not well done at all, AIWAV was far more memorable despite it's shortcomings.
However as a book QOTD was really good and made an excellent followup to The Vampire Lestat.

Aparently, when you become undead your spine goes all wonkers and you move with this leaning backwards slinky walk.

Maybe it's just a Holywood California mutation ....

And to just ramble incoherently tonight. The director of the movie "Shaft" was from my home state. I never realized he was a director and author, but I knew he was an amazing photographer. When I finally went back to college in the 80's, I used to see Gordon Parks around campus a couple of times a year with his camera. I never had the courage to go and talk to him.

as you said the main character was not well cast

I'll take Townsend over Cruise any day. ANY day.

And the Queen was supposed to be the most inhuman of the vampires, which is at least part of the reason she moved that way. :p

You were in CA! Your pics are beautiful. My brother lives in NoCal and I lived up there with him for a while, not too far from Bodega Bay. I love the coast up there.
I took a lot pictures of all the tall buildings and interesting architecture in downtown L.A. and then I realized that if I could only be quick enough there were a lot of good pictures of people all around me too, but mostly I wasn't quick enough.

When I finally went to college in the 80's I got invited to a reception for Gordon Parks. I was too humble to actually try to talk with him but I did think I was pretty cool to be in the same room with him.

Waves hello to room goes back to napping and listening to music.
I like that quote...
We have a lot invested in our thoughts. But if they don't serve us or make us happy, why keep revisiting them? - Ray Figtree
That is very good question, perhaps a bad habit?

Sorry if this seems to be a bit of a dig FD, it's not at all, just something Winston Churchill said about quotes.

"It is a good thing for an uneducated man to read books of quotations... "

I'm not really sure what amount of education is necessary to make the "uneducated" educated anyway, or I'd go out and get it..:)

I am not offended the dumbest people I know are educated and they have no medical excuse for their stupidity.
I have medical reasons for my stupidity.
Personally I rather be uneducated or learn what I know in other ways and know my limits and my insignificance then the opposite of that....which is overly focused on one's importance, arrogant, educated but lacks emotional intelligence, self-righteous, and generic pompous jerk who constantly has to win every argument and debate
And no this isn't personal slam on anyone here.
If it applies to you though that sounds like personal problem and I am not responsible for it just making conservation and observations.
Hope it makes you happy and gives you lot of fullfillment.
Any way I am going back to my nap it makes me happy and serves me well.

So agree- what were they thinking?

Re land- I just bought a few 16m's for stupid prices just to rescue them- still need to figure how to add to my castle land since they are not contiguous. Someone answered awhile ago re camming out and joining that way but i haven't tried it.

~~

Good morning threaples- the day dawns bright- the weekend is gone and hope it took recent drama with it-

Still loving my SecondLife and all my friends and loves :) - (Boo- have to go to work!)

I rather like Queen of the Damned for some perverse reason- my favorite vamp movie is The Hunger - but I am a Bowie groupie :)
