From: FD Spark I am not offended the dumbest people I know are educated and they have no medical excuse for their stupidity. I have medical reasons for my stupidity. Personally I rather be uneducated or learn what I know in other ways and know my limits and my insignificance then the opposite of that....which is overly focused on one's importance, arrogant, educated but lacks emotional intelligence, self-righteous, and generic pompous jerk who constantly has to win every argument and debate And no this isn't personal slam on anyone here. If it applies to you though that sounds like personal problem and I am not responsible for it just making conservation and observations. Hope it makes you happy and gives you lot of fullfillment. Any way I am going back to my nap it makes me happy and serves me well. Actually, on second thoughts I retract my apology. In any other sphere of human activity, my little quote and the self-deprecating aside would have been taken in the manner it was meant. You obviousy set great store by "emotional intelligence" FD and as can be implied from your little diatribe, aren't afraid to suggest you have a larger than average ability in that area. Strange to note that in this particular episode you seem to be sadly lacking. At the end of the day FD you can take any stance you like on the educated vs uneducated, but your little outburst against the educated does in itself suggest some unresolved issues. A propensity for snide passive-aggressive outbursts being just one. And, yes God forbid, I used some "big" words in this post, but not to flaunt an education, simply because they seemed the most appropriate. Perhaps this does flag me as a "pompous jerk" prone to educational "dick waving", but I suspect only to those with issues regarding their own endowment (in whatever area). Now THATS why I shouldn't post in this thread. B

From: Damien1 Thorne And to just ramble incoherently tonight. The director of the movie "Shaft" was from my home state. I never realized he was a director and author, but I knew he was an amazing photographer. When I finally went back to college in the 80's, I used to see Gordon Parks around campus a couple of times a year with his camera. I never had the courage to go and talk to him. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gordon_ParksFrom: Kaimi Kyomoon When I finally went to college in the 80's I got invited to a reception for Gordon Parks. I was too humble to actually try to talk with him but I did think I was pretty cool to be in the same room with him. I think it's pretty neat that you both have Gordon Parks stories. He was an amazing photographer.

From: FD Spark Waves hello to room goes back to napping and listening to music. I like that quote... We have a lot invested in our thoughts. But if they don't serve us or make us happy, why keep revisiting them? - Ray Figtree That is very good question, perhaps a bad habit? *waves to FD* Hi there! I find that quote to be quite interesting and, heh, thought-provoking. And...I really like the picture in your signature! Have a good nap!

From: Ann Launay I'll take Townsend over Cruise any day. ANY day. And the Queen was supposed to be the most inhuman of the vampires, which is at least part of the reason she moved that way. She was supposed to be very white skinned like it was marble. Obviously she was not immobile like the king but nevertheless she should have looked way less human than she did. Lestat is also meant to be very white and so the Queen is suppose to be even whiter. She looked quite tanned to me, so did Lestat. A funny walk does not quite cut it really. I agree the guy was better than Cruise, just saying...you know...that ain't much of an endorsement

Good Morning...
08-11-2008 06:03
to all the Threadie Peeps
Many thanks to everyone that attended my first attempt at being a DJ. I have a great deal of work to do, but I think everyone enjoyed the music selections.
Thanks for all the tips as well. It has never been my intention to be a club or venue. The last thing I want is to make anyone feel obligated to me. It is just a place where I can see all of my friends each week.
Next week Syn will be back and I am sure we all look forward to seeing and listening to her.

Thanks, CX, it was a good time. You did a great job DJing!! I liked your musical selections, and enjoyed the walk down memory lane with Dr. Demento.

"CX" (half assed DJ) I might've teased you about your DJ ability, CX, but really you did great. Thanks for the party. In fact, thanks for ALL the pool parties!

Morning folks, My apologies to all those who were in the hangout yesterday when I unceremoniously *poofed* without saying goodbye. We lost power due to a nearby lightning strike and the lights (as well as the cable modem) didn't come back on for about 5 hours. It seemed like a perfect rainy afternoon to spend lounging around the hangout; sorry I couldn't stick around!
