For the New Yorker in all of us: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcP1EP0Gmd4&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-sBP5QrOdI Thanks for posting that Brenda. I work in NYC and lived here for a great many years; on West 58th Street right near Central Park for a couple of years, on East 40th Street in Murray Hill for nearly 10 years and in Battery Park City for a couple of years. I dream of the day I can return (and that is a possibility right now). That video makes my heart melt ![]() _____________________

Good morning, Threadies. Good morning, forums. It's past the time Verizon swore they'd have phone service back, and my home is still unconnected to the world by phone or internet. /me is very grumpy. /me throws to Lindal the Grumpy cap his kids bought him at Disneyworld the other year. After working for 10 years as a pastry chef, I turned in my spatula and went back to school. Majored in Mining Engineering, worked as an intern for several years in the field. Moved to Washington state, where, unfortunately, there are no mines, but there is a certain Trout. Am training now to be either a) law enforcement - requires passing a rigorous physical which was postponed due to a small motorcycle accident or b) nursing. Both will eventually help to fund my true desire, which is to raise sheep for meat and milk. Trout wants to be in charge of cheese making. 37, no kids, divorced.

Oh - I forgot to tell you - I *LOVE* cheese. I originally came from Caerphilly(google for cheese not the castle, although the latter is cool too) Pep (But a bacon sandwich would be my mistress if I married cheese) _____________________

Hehe, when you get that cheese division up and running, let me know. I had mentioned in a thread about my love of cheese and Trout brought up about his and I told him one of my fantasies is to have a goat farm, and learn how to make cheese also lol. Some day, perhaps I'll chuck it all in and go live out in the wilderness running in the hills with herds of goats at my feet, stinking of clover and milk myself ![]() _____________________

If we are dreaming...
I want a fifty-foot, center-cockpit, Morgan ketch. It has to have a water maker, ice maker and a beer cooler. (of course all the required safety and sailing equipemnt) I want to sail around the Carribean and South Pacific Islands until I am too old, then prop me up on a beach somewhere and let the tide take me away. Generic Ghosty Synopsis v1.0:
I am a blogger going on 6 years running, altough have recently abandoned all other online projects to pursue blogging about SL. I am also an active contributor for SL Things To Do's "Landmark of the Day" ( http://slthingstodo.com ). Offworld, I am currently working on my first would-be published novel, a sci-fi piece inspired by Issac Asimov's robot stories and my love of Eastern philosophies, and will frequently indulge in short story writing for my own amusement. When not writing, blogging or spending time inworld, I work out the fustrations of an analog existance by creating digital art (I'm seeking an SL gallery to exhibit and sell my work), reading constantly (I'm good for a book per week on average), and increasing my Flixster review count on Facebook (171 reviews, 894 ratings, and counting). I also have a great love for hand percussion, but without instruments have resorted to banging on objects in my general vicinity, to the sometime consternation of passer-by and, on one occasion, a local constable. Less important asides: I am Hindu, having converted some 12 years ago. In a few months I will turn 50, a firm believer that this is the new 35. I share my existance with an albino guinea pig named Wilson in the horrible city that is Baltimore, and make my living as a political fundraiser for an assortment of private business interests. _____________________

Good morning/afternoon/evening threadies. ![]() /me hears a flute playing and goes to investigate the haunting sounds. Not Pan pipes but I love Native American music- really, a lot of ethnic music - but I have a weakness for Indian flutes. I recommend Robert Mirabal but want to share Kevin Locke in Youtube. Husband is on way home from out west and is bringing me a new CD. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaHbbX-aoJU _____________________

Oh, are we discussing RL?
OK, 37, single, no kids, and sad about both of the latter two...'no kids' more so than being single, as I have my entire life to find love and only a few more years for (biological) children. Born in California, grew up in Colorado, always wanted to work with either books or animals and live on the West coast; somehow wound up an accountant in Wyoming. I've been to school way too much...Bachelors in Accounting and Zoology, Masters in Accounting...so it seems unlikely there will be any more of that. The Zoology degree came first as part of my intended path to vet school but, alas, I screwed around far too much to have the grades for it. Zoology degree was subsequently only good for managing a PetsMart and burnout from retail drove me back to school for a 'practical' degree. I'm a good accountant, but I don't enjoy it and the idea of doing this for the next 25+ years makes me want to run screaming away. Short of winning the Lottery, though, I don't know what my other options are at this point. Joined SL almost 2 years ago - my rez day is in a week and a half - after a fellow fan posted about it on the official NIN forums. I am a consumer and explorer in SL and have never given much thought to creating, possibly due to my perfectionist tendencies...kind of like, someone else is already doing X better than I can, so what's the point? It'll just make me feel bad about my attempts. The one creation I am (obviously) proud of is Ann herself, which is why I enjoy dressing her up and taking pictures. Speaking of, I bought a cute Viking outfit last night... Anyway, that's probably more than enough info. ![]() _____________________
~Now Trout Re-Re-Re-Certified!~
I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things. Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut. |

Oryx has it all wrong. I want to be in charge of cutting the cheese.
I'm sorry. I tried to resist the joke. I really tried hard. I made it almost an hour. It's like dangling a piece of bacon in front of a dog. Sooner or later, the dog is going to eat the bacon. Since we're in confession mode, here's mine. I moved to the Northwest to go to college about 1100 years ago. Graduated from college and became a property manager. I wound up handing an extremely large multifamily investment portfolio for a local company, but realized I was going nowhere, despite the fact that everyone above me in line was driving new BMW's courtesy of my ability to generate income. Plus, having resident managers call you at 2:00 am with ridiculous garbage gets old fast. I decided to go back to school and law school seemed like a good idea at the time. I did well, and actually enjoyed the experience quite a bit. Started with a very large firm and was surprised at how contemptuously the partners at big firms treat their associates. Work 80+ hour weeks and they look at you like you're gum on the bottom of their shoe. I bailed out of there, went to work for a smaller firm that was busily falling apart, then moved to a very small firm, where I am now. I'm primarily a real property and corporate transactions guy. I did a lot of litigation when I was younger, but now I'm pretty happy helping people form new businesses, documenting large transactions, real property developments, corporate M&A, etc. If it sounds boring, that's because it isn't much of a spectator sport. It's like watching someone do Sudoku. But for me, I love it. I had spare time once, but if I had some now, I'd spend it chasing Oryx, riding my motorcycle and fly-fishing/hiking/camping the Cascades. Oh - and I'm learning to make cheese. So far I've only poisoned two people. It was all Oryx's fault. At some point, it would be nice to settle down on a nice chunk of acreage and get a little herd of sheep. It sounds so much more relaxing than how things are now. _____________________

... At some point, it would be nice to settle down on a nice chunk of acreage and get a little herd of sheep. It sounds so much more relaxing than how things are now. Just wait until it comes time to... -shear the sheep -dip the sheep -lambing And other livestock is worse. Goats are ill tempered. Pigs are ill-tempered and LARGE. and the only useful product is the pig itself, so you have to put up with the damn thing until slaughtering time. Cows can be sweet, but they are stupid and they are BIG. And have to be milked twice a day, no exceptions allowed. Stay away from turkeys...they are so stupid that they will drown if you leave them outside in the rain. They look up at the sky with a bewildered expression, mouth open in astonishment...until they fill up. Chickens are your best bet, or maybe bees. As for me, I dream of moving to Panama and starting an enchilada ranch. _____________________
