That is inspirational tale Trout but I didn't know you could be poisoned by cheese. In my real life I have nurses who come help me and boyfriend, been dealing with several disability, personal things for quite a while, lot of stuff I got no clue really how to manage but I do the best I can. I just want to do artwork, wouldn't mind if it paid more bills but I got what I need. Most of my life I just wanted to do normal things and sometimes I tried. failed, yes I get very discouraged and overwhelmed but I keep persisting. I think being and doing things make one happier and feel inspired to be more creative, more happy is good thing to aspire too though but sometimes it harder to maintain.

Huh? My story? Okay. It was never easy for me. I was born a poor black child. I remember the days, sittin' on the porch with my family, singin' and dancin' down in Mississippi.........
Oh wait that wasn't me, that was Navin Johnson.
I was born in Kentucky, 39 years ago, lived here all of my life except for a hitch in the Air Force. I tried the college thing, but loud arrogant rednecks and idiot professors/TAs who have never been in the real world don't mix. So I learned cabinet making.
I built cabinets and did finish carpentry until 8 years ago. Then I developed MS. That put a end to manual labor. So I went to work for Nabisco selling cookies. I also moonlighted as a tax preparer and as a home care provider for developmentally disabled adults on the weekends.
Three years ago, I took a turn for the worse physically, so I stay at home now. I started playing City of Heroes (Warbull, the best tank on the Liberty server) until a friend from COH told me about SL. My two year rezday will be 30 Sept or so. We ran a club and escorts. But all that work got old. Last summer I joined with other miscreants and started the Forum Cartel. It has done so much better than any of us ever expected. I have made lots of friends. Now I spend my time in SL with Feline and hang out with the Forumites. I have a 3 year old daughter who occupies my RL time.

From: Lindal Kidd Just wait until it comes time to... -shear the sheep -dip the sheep -lambing
And other livestock is worse. Goats are ill tempered. Pigs are ill-tempered and LARGE. and the only useful product is the pig itself, so you have to put up with the damn thing until slaughtering time. Cows can be sweet, but they are stupid and they are BIG. And have to be milked twice a day, no exceptions allowed.
Stay away from turkeys...they are so stupid that they will drown if you leave them outside in the rain. They look up at the sky with a bewildered expression, mouth open in astonishment...until they fill up.
Chickens are your best bet, or maybe bees.
As for me, I dream of moving to Panama and starting an enchilada ranch. I hear you. I grew up in an agricultural community. Worked in ranching for years. I've swamped out stalls, stacked hay, shovelled poop, built fences, laid irrigation line and I can run anything on wheels - tractors, dozers, combines, or anything else. I'd like to get back to those roots at some point. I don't mind work.

Chris, Very cool story. I feel for you with the MS. Several people I work with telecommute because they have MS. Sounds like you are taking it all in stride. I am pleased and honored to be counted among your friends. Everyone else - In agreement with Lindal Not to pop any bubbles but farming is hard work. My fathers family were all farmers and my mothers family were share croppers growing cotton and rice. My uncle the dairy farmer has to be on duty 24/7 no vacations. Another raises chickens and eggs another 24/7 job. I have picked cotton and rice by hand. Baled hay for cattle and picked corn all of it is hard work. Many years ago when I was a young liberal idealist, I bought 10 acres of land. I read a book called "5 Acres" to be self sufficent. I figured twice as much land would be better. I raised chickens, ducks, pheasants, I had two pigs and I was a beekeeper. The easiest job was the bees except I became allergic to bee stings. I learned everything from how to make soap to making alcohol for automobile fuel. Five years later I filed for bankruptcy and lost everything. Now 25+ years later I understand that I am too lazy to work and too nervous to steal. If you love animals and that life style I am happy for you. I love cheese and warm wooley sweaters and people need to raise sheep, goats and cattle. "CX" (IMHO - I never criticize a farmer with my mouth full)

@ Gabrielle... Welcome back, Lady of the Darkness. We have missed you around here.
And Rha! so glad you've come out of your hiatus to post. Welcome back.
One more tidbit in my bio, I am Buddhist, as well as Unitarian Universalist. I took refuge on February 2, 1997, in a Zen sangha.
I was shocked and saddened yesterday to learn of a horrible shooting in a Unitarian Universalist Church in Knoxville TN. 2 people were killed, 9 wounded, by a gunman who targeted the church because of the denomination's progressive social agenda. He walked into a church in the middle of Sunday service and opened fire with a shotgun.
Words fail me.... I am always shocked when confronted once again with the level of hatred and vitriol that seems to characterize political discourse in our country. Is gunfire the logical outcome of that spoken hatred?
Please find a place in your hearts today for the victims, and be gentle with one another....

Kaimi, Thanks for all the updates on the Tour De France. As to the bees, you may wish to contact a local beekeeper to transfer them to a commerical bee box. Natural hives eventually die out and the bees can't defend themselves against wax worms. All the best. "CX"

"CX" Thanks for bringing this up we'd been wondering if we should just leave them alone and hope for the best or get some expert advise.

Howdy threadologists!
Finally been kicked out of pop's place...and so happy I am! He's mending quite well, and even though I tempt fate with this statement, I believe he's actually better than before his incident. He's lost about 25lbs, and is maintaining his new weight quite well. He seems to be able to get around a bit easier than before, and in some ways seems more flexible.
So - now that he's all better, I got the boot. Unceremoniously, I might add...gotta' love pop.
I'm seeing RL details being handed out here? eep.
For what it's worth, I'll add that yes, I'm actually male (/looks down for a quick equipment check - yep!!), and for fans of the Hitchhikers Guide and ironic synchronicity, I turn 42yrs old on 8/8/08.
Yes, this has been a big year for me already, in many ways...and will continue to do so, I hope and fear.
Okay...back to my favorite sunny spot for a moment...business to attend to.
eta: weird...got a call from 573 area code (Missouri) - anyone in that area looking for me?
