Angel and Briana's exchanges are making me very sad. And their lingering anger is proof that everything that happens in SL is very real to the person at the keyboard. Mostly because it IS real. you are hitting awfully close to home with a lot of people today. |

My hearing loss was originally caused by a blow to the head by an abusive ex (key word is, ex) husband, and it progressed from that initial act, to total deafness, over some years. So no, was not a normal process at all. Just that I've learned to live inside of it, and live quite well, and be happy. No, I don't recommend it to others. But I will help anyone to find their own peace with it. It is a social disability of sorts, as it severely limits the ability to communicate easily. An invisible disability, for the most part, except for any assistive devices like hearing aids that one may be using, which often go unnoticed. So no, I'd never recommend it. But since I've got it, or it's got me, I am certainly going to do my best to turn it on its' head and make lemonade out of it. ![]() |

I knew all that of course and I have praise you for your attitude and your achievements before. My hearing loss was originally caused... Not really a "normal" process though, was it. Pep (I presume you don't recommend it to others?) /me offers you a beer, gently helps you out of your chair, and pushes you toward the garden. Drink, sleep it off, and come back when you can type without embarrassing yourself. . |

spent the day away from work, the forums and my normal routine with several very good mates ( ![]() Anderson, who had earlier shared a 47 run last-wicket partnership with Graham Onions, bowled fast and straight to test an Australian batting lineup that scored 674-6 in its only innings of the drawn first Test at Cardiff. Phillip Hughes, the visitor’s 20-year-old opener, was out for 4 after gloving a short delivery to wicketkeeper Matt Prior. Anderson got a fortuitous decision to dismiss Ricky Ponting when the Australian captain was on 2. Umpire Rudi Koertzen deemed Ponting had flicked the ball onto his pads before it carried to Andrew Strauss in the slips. Replays showed his bat had struck his boot and not the ball. Andrew Flintoff, who announced he will retire at the end of the series, backed Anderson up from the other end. The 31-year- old bowled at speeds of up to 94 miles per hour. Simon Katich and Michael Hussey were the men at the crease when lunch was called. Of course earlier Anderson and Onions helped England get close to the minimum target of 450 set by captain Andrew Strauss last night after the Australian bowlers took three wickets in the first three overs of the day. So you all can see why I'm in such a foul mood myself today... _____________________

Not to mention the fact that people tend to re-create a lot of their RL issues in SL! This pretty much says it all for this thread. . _____________________

Actually I find it quite upsetting since James Anderson took two wickets to leave Australia 22-2 at lunch on the second day of the second Ashes cricket Test at Lord’s today after the visitors had ended England’s first innings on 425. Anderson, who had earlier shared a 47 run last-wicket partnership with Graham Onions, bowled fast and straight to test an Australian batting lineup that scored 674-6 in its only innings of the drawn first Test at Cardiff. Phillip Hughes, the visitor’s 20-year-old opener, was out for 4 after gloving a short delivery to wicketkeeper Matt Prior. Of course earlier Anderson and Onions helped England get close to the minimum target of 450 set by captain Andrew Strauss last night after the Australian bowlers took three wickets in the first three overs of the day. So you all can see why I'm in such a foul mood myself today... Wait! There's a guy named Graham Onions??? ![]() _____________________

The way this lot are today we could just about form a posse and go do some retribution if you like.. perhaps the sight of a dozen sl avatars nipping his ankles might teach him a lesson?? seriously though, I hope he went to jail for it if nothing else and I can think of far worse things that I'd like to visit on those who think violence is a way to solve anything. Lemonade sounds like a good plan, although I think you've turned it into champagne. _____________________

(But that doesn't mean you satisfy my "normality" criteria, which you attempted to, and have now acknowledged belatedly.) In RL or SL, "normalcy" is the freakish improbability. The Universe knows I have my issues and challenges, but since I feel my RL and SL avatars are pretty groovy, I forgive the flaws in myself and others pretty easily. _____________________
