my store
![]() actually it is hard to answer that question because it is mainly based on what you like and dislike you will get a lot of suggestions here for a lot of the well known places, but take your time and search and visit some of the lesser known ones too, you never know when you might stumble into that perfect skin for you _____________________

There are so many places to choose from, it would be hard to suggest one over another without knowing more of what you like. You should definitely look through all of this thread first for some great ideas.

I do my best shoping on SLX
slexchange.com have to go to a terminal. here is one http://slurl.com/secondlife/Sea%20Magic/175/208/24 you can ether register on the site or through the terminal. i found it easier to go through the terminal rather then the site. then you can search for items on there. have to pay the terminal once you are registered to put money in I always put money in after i find the item i want and just put the amount needed in it rather then putting a bunch of money in at once |

Personally, I found "PXL" to have the smoothest, realistic....

Hi Margeaux! Welcome to the forums. Wherever you decide to buy, be sure you try on the demos before buying.
Also, be sure you have your shape more-or-less the way you want it, or be prepared to adjust your features a bit to fit a skin you love. Skins can have a completely different effect on different shapes. ![]() |

my store ![]() actually it is hard to answer that question because it is mainly based on what you like and dislike I'll vouch for that. ![]() ![]() I have many skins. The ones I get to most compliments on are from Adam n Eve (sachi Vixen) and RaC. I also have one from Second Skins that I love too. You need to shop around........gather up demos and try them on. It doesn't matter if it takes you weeks to find the one(s) you like. Or you do like me and break the bank account when you get on a binge..........LOL. |

With skins, you really, really need to get a demo before making a purchase. For that reason, SLX may be a good way to search, but I wouldn't buy directly from SLX unless you can get a demo there first.

I really like the X2:Exotica ones but I haven't skin shopped in a while.
When I was shopping for skins, I quickly found that the more 'real' ones looked very good if you were more than a few meters away and less good when you were very close. The less 'real' ones looked better close up but quickly turned cartoony as you moved away. As you try different ones on (get the demos!!) make sure to check yourself out from a variety of camera distances. |

lots of great skin designers, but "best" is purely subjective. I myself wear Naughty but there are plenty of good skins. If you are happy with your shape, make sure you try out the demo skins to make sure they flatter your shape. Some elite skins, like the Celestial Studios Vogue, give me what I call "Joker lips" by making my lips look pointy and cartoonish. But that is because of my shape. Since I am more attached to my shape than skin, I will buy skin that fits the shape, not vice versa.

I have a REALLY expensive skin from RAC that I like - I also have a $50L skin I found on SLexchange or OnRez... Want to guess which one I wear more often?

I like Good Life (Goth and Emo but beautifully done), Skin Within (I have nearly their whole range), CMFF (Skins by Chip Midnight), Luscious and Lords (an Australian designer I believe), Temenos (for my Neko skins) and "By Max" (especially the horizon series). These are the skin designers I have been wearing recently - generally "small" businesses. They all come with shapes but the skins fit people like myself who are shaped realistically according to how nature made them. Prices vary but I cannot complain about any of these designers.

The skin I'm currently wearing is a realSKIN. It's not the best in terms of realism or even in beauty. The lashes are actually painted on the eyelids which gives you the same illusion as prim lashes but you can actually use face emotes. I really couldn't tell you much about how the body looks as I rarely see it. The toenails are terrible. But I've worn it for the past several months and have no plans on changing it. This is my best skin.

I really like the look of my RaC-i-mean-Laqroki (whatever a laqroki is) skins but most of the time seem to find myself wearing a much less realistic one from Snowflake Chaika that simply feels "warmer" to me. _____________________

There is a thread here somewhere about female skins where people have posted thier pics. It's really useful and shows clearly how different shapes/hair can give the same skin different looks.

Every mother and their dog are making female skins right now, especially after the release of Eloh Elliott PSD files.....the female skins market is over-saturated IMO.
Best skins is very subjected topic......also depends on the shape you wear and the hair to go with it. Its the combination of the two + hair that provides you with that "Look" |

I'm biased, of course, but I recommend Robin Sojourner's "Yummy Skins" (there are adult and kid versions) sold in Serenite and Livingtree. They actually look really good in Windlight, too.
