I'm biased, of course, but I recommend Robin Sojourner's "Yummy Skins" sold in Serenite and Livingtree. They actually look really good in Windlight, too.

....then you might like to try Lumiere Kids Skins! (demos)

I wear Celestial Studios Vogue skins the majority of the time, but happily don't experience 'joker lips' with my shape. You can see the base set here, but she's added on since they were released:

http://www.starley.com/2007/01/vogue_skins_are.html

I also sometimes wear her the CS Charmed line or Fleur skins. My Neko skin is from Nomine, as are the Pierrot skins and one I use to play Orion slave girl. :D

They all come with shapes but the skins fit people like myself who are shaped realistically according to how nature made them.

*blink*

What does nature have to do with a virtual world constructed of pixels?

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

I really like Stella di Roccia skins. You can find them at Port Seraphine. As well as looking fab they are cheap..500L for a set of lots of makeups and a freckled option.. and they are mod too! :D

Being a Body Shape maker...i've always liked Vogue, Charmed and CyroGen for female make-ups. To be honest there are so many new brands hitting the market, that i might spend more time trying out new Demos. I'm hoping to find a undiscovered jewel of creator and start using their skins with any new Shape creations.

Oh? Why so?

(Full disclosure: I'm a long time RL and SL friend of Robin, and was the "beta tester" for her kid skin -- as well as working with her on a number of other projects and things.)

Ahh..hence all the credits! Yes, Yummy skins are very good kids skins and near the top of the pile, but i would say our Lumiere Kids skins are on a par in terms of quality :)

lots of great skin designers, but "best" is purely subjective. I myself wear Naughty but there are plenty of good skins. If you are happy with your shape, make sure you try out the demo skins to make sure they flatter your shape. Some elite skins, like the Celestial Studios Vogue, give me what I call "Joker lips" by making my lips look pointy and cartoonish. But that is because of my shape. Since I am more attached to my shape than skin, I will buy skin that fits the shape, not vice versa.

I'm with Cristalle... I would never buy a skin that didn't somewhat conform to my shape. My partner showed me the CS Vogue skin and I really liked it except for the lips. I tend to keep mine wider and not so pursed. I almost didn't buy it, but after adding 10 points to my lip width, it was very close to being "me" so I did purchase it and have worn it ever since, except on occasions when I want a skin with more dramatic effects.

I use to help some female friends to choose their skins and I have to say that my choice goes to Celestial Studios (vogue series) and the new Gen4 from MM Skins

I wear Namsorr Daguerre - ( search for "Second Skin Labs" ) - these are extremely high quality skins and you can order custom modifications easily. (L$3500+) I found out about them through another post about african american skins and never looked back.

If you want great looking skins that are lower cost try "Skin Within" for girls. (L$1200)

Best really budget skins I've seen are PixelSkins - Near Pixeldolls shop (L$600ish)

As I spend most of my time nude investing in good skin is essential *winks*

I used to live in Naughty skins, until the creator started putting appalling 'I don't answer any IMs or offer any customer service' type comments on her profile.

Now I nearly always wear my RAC (as was) with the occaisional CS, Panjen or Wishedon Pasteur day :-)

I also have a beautiful black skin by Robin Sojourner that I particularly love - her skins are definatley worth checking out, very well done indeed.

I've tried loads of demo skins but so far not found anything I like better than Gala. I find the shading very well drawn and realistic. Her range of skins are discounted to L$500 atm and well worth checking out. I believe there is a new version coming along soon.

Fleur's skins (used to be called Tete a Pied) are also one of the better makes IMO and a bargain at L$500, with lots of makeup choices in different styles.

Naughty do some nice ones too, albeit more expensive, but I was always put off those by the overly pouty lips which seemed to leave a pale outline around them if I altered the lip shape to one I prefer. :)

I purchased an Adora skin last night. I have to say that some of her skins are absolutely stunning. Right now she's having a sale for this week only $800. What's even cooler about Adora skins is that for $800 (normally $999) you actually get 5 or 6 skins with different makeup as well as a shape (although I didn't use that), a loaded ao, a french manicure and some lushy lashes. I'm pleasantly pleased.

FWIW, I offer again my "April fools" piccie. This uses one of Robin's adult skins. Maybe not my best lighting: I might hafta take another later that really highlights th' skin or someting.

I use two regular skins. My normal on is from Panjen...called Joy. Its really freckly which I adore, and It looks cute....My shape has changed during the time I have been wearing this, and it still looks good. It was my first ever skin, and it is 'me'...I feel wierd in anything else.
i also have one from Sin Skins....I think it was Nimbus - the malachite noir make-up. i got this while she was having a sale, and I love the make up. With Sin Skins you get both mature and non-mature versions (whether you want the naughty bits or not ;) ) and a freckled and non-freckled version....I wear the freckled of course, but I really like a lot of Sin Skins. My alt even has a Sin Skins skin (try saying that when you've had a few lol)

I have been impressed by a lot of smaller business' skins. Maybe I will take my alt shopping again lol.

As well as the natural skins, I have a skin for my water fae avatar from Panjen, and I also have a purple+black skin from the Etheria range at Sin Skins...I think its called nightshade or something similar. These are gorgeous...

I also have all my freebie goth ones which I wear occasionally if I'm in a wierd mood.

Shop around, take your time and you will find a skin you love...I did, and my freckles are apparantly now my 'thing' lol.

I really like RaC (will always be RaC to me!). I like galla as well, but changes I made to my shape don't look good with that skin anymore. I use Nomine a lot, too.

I have a ton of Gala too. Maybe too much. I can't seem to find their newest line that came out during the skin fair. Panjen is good too, especially if you want out of the ordinary colors. I recently found this store called Issigonis that sells really nice asian skins.

Gala made new skins? I should check them out again, haven't looked at skins in ages. Every time I do it's never a good occasion for the $L account.

Since skins are products that merchants can easily offer for demo, and good skins are fairly expensive, there's no reason that you shouldn't go to as many stores as possible and demo as many skins as possible.

One of the reasons, I think, that skin prices have come down and variety has gone up is because Chip Midnight offered free templates, plus good advice on websites (I forget if in these forums, or another website) as to creating skins that I used to make a skin for myself. Just for that reason, I'd say make sure you don't miss his store when you visit others.

And speaking of lower prices and greater variety, there are good (legitimate) freebie skins, and low-priced skins. It's not necessarily true that you have to pay a ton of money for quality. So don't rule out the low-priced and (legitimate) free skins.

Now if you want to be an SL model, or you want a skin with a particular unique look, or you want things like different makeup options for the same skin, those are the kind of things that it's hard to avoid paying decent money to obtain.

I have found that skins are amazingly individual. Everyone's suggestions about trying demos are absolutely true. However, I have to admit that some of my favorite skins I got for $1L for 63 skins! At a place called Go Dutch (I think that's right). Meanwhile, I have tried skins from RAC (which is now called something else), Fleur, and other expensive places that I'm not so keen on ... So.. like I said, it's a matter of personal taste and aesthetic, plus what looks good on your particular avatar. Main thing is: have fun :)

I love Sin Skins, took a friend there today and found that they are all now just 200L. I paid 1000 mine last year, time for some new make-up sets I think!

She's got a new line in Beta, so don't expect those prices to last.

I like them better than the current ones...prettier faces IMO.
