To add to Lexxi's post. For any person asking about skins, this is why trying on a demo is important. I demo'd the RaC Drew skin also and the look is very different from Lexxi's. Both are great looks, but the shapes make the skins look almost like totally different skins:

Thanks for this post. I went shopping for skin for an alt today, and I was amazed at how different she looked. I had a gifted skin that is pretty nice, but looks way too much like this popular freebie skin that is out there. I went to my normal favorite, Naughty, and she looked soooo much different. Much more sexy, much more glam.

Then went to X2 to see what the buzz was about.

OMG, I disliked it completely. The skintone was "base bronze" but I saw nothing bronze about it. I felt pasty white, and would need to buy a much darker skin to get the tone that I had hoped for, and then I would probably need a full body light in order to feel happy with it. And then the skin was no mod.... ugh. Points to Naughty for being mod.

Then I went to Insolence. I love those skins. They look natural, and beautiful. I chose "Nature" shade - not too pale, very healthy tone... wonderful skin.

I need to do a bit more skin shopping before I settle.... I want this alt to look different but feel just as great as I do in my Naughty skin.

I will try to post some different pics later, but these two are my Insolence skin. Its the Lisa in Tan. I also have a CS Vogue skin that I really like.

Note that Insolence is also no mod...

And now I've taken her to Chip Midnight's shop. Beautiful skin! Nice tone. Although no mod... much better than X2.

Edit: I will say this about X2 - it works if you have black hair, and want a kind of goth look.

Lexxi, I have to say it - I hate hate hate skins that give you lips like you're The Joker from Batman. Those Sin Skins, with the exception of Dusk and those LF Chai skins: I couldn't wear them. Granted, your shape has an exaggerated upper lip, but the skin shouldn't make it even more exaggerated.

I went a little nuts and bought a ton of demos. Bought up a bunch from Chip, went on to Celestial Studios and RaC. I'm nowhere near close to done.

I have a boatload of pictures. Some of these ended up being very light and outside my desired complexion, but I was curious about the tone. The RaC skin was pretty impressive until I decided to fly and noticed that my arms looked... gray! in comparison to the golden tone of my torso. My favorite was Tasha Smoky, but after that...it's a no-go.

I also have to comment that the feature that I do not like about most of the mid-range colors of RaC skins is the penchant to peachen up the face. Maybe it's a little too realistic - a lot of swarthier white women do not have adequate makeup to suit their skintone and end up buying stuff that totally does not match their undertones. So I'm very sorry to see that an olive-toned skin is met with a peachy face here in SL, where your face should match your neck should match the rest of your body.

It is not as if Naughty doesn't have this problem too. Zoe Gold, Cristalle's skin, should be more golden in its highlights, not peach! The first time I saw it on the backside of my legs, I was aghast (yes, I didn't look long enough at it - the shading on the cleavage was not as dramatic as it was on the backside). Highlights on olive and golden skin are light golden brown, not peach. Yellow or green undertone, not pink or purple.

I have the Zoe Alina skin in Honey, too, which is made for black women. Its highlights are more natural. My only problem with that skin is it not being golden enough for my taste, which is why I switched to Zoe Gold.

Anyway, on to the pix for my alt:

The first set are Chip's skins. By and large, I love the lips with one glaring exception. Some of them could use a little more eye makeup for my taste.

CMFF Soft Tan: This one is too red, and just doesn't work with my shape.

Absolute nono's - CS Vogue. These are giving my alt Joker lips. Beautiful skintone, though. CS Vogue in Cashmere:


in Amber: This is about the complexion I'm looking for. Too bad about the Joker lips.

RaC skins: very pretty faces, although there is quite a bit of peachification. Plus, the arms did not quite match the tone of the torso, at least it was blatantly obvious on Tasha.

X2: Soft fusion - this was slightly easier on the eyes than the hyperfusion one. But just too pink for me - Bronze implies a warmth of color. Lips are nice, though.



But it looks better with the black hair.

It's a nice skin, but the peach in the face just reminds me too much of rl, where women buy foundation too light for their skin or with the wrong undertone.

This is one I really like. It is from a place called "Another Shop" and it was only 100L. Their pale skin with freckles looks really good too, but I really like this dark skin

This is another RaC skin. Its the "emma". I really like this one too, but I ended up buying the "Bridgette" above.

That one is the most flattering, if you ask me. But they are all very nice skin choices.
