OK, so that's your one sim...I'm honestly telling you, step out your SL door and fly around the grid for a while--90 percent of the content is NOT related to sex or gambling.

Why won't people admit this?

because its just not true, i'd say 50% percent of the content IS related to sex or gambling

Because 90% of the content is sex related. From the dance poseballs in the PG club, to the skins and shapes, to the cuddle couches, it is all directed towards sex. What is couples dancing other than in imitation of the sex act? Kinsey reports that 54% of men think about sex every day or several times a day. Other sources say the average man thinks about sex 39 times a day. And you say that we are not sex driven?

(When are they gonna outlaw that, btw? Or does the idea of snuffplay and eating cooked humans - even in rp/poseball - being repulsive to me mean I am boring, narrow minded and unimaginative? RHETORICAL!!!)

Oh dear! You've never encountered me in-world, have you?

With all due respect, you all are insane.

Fly out your door right now and explore the entire grid. The vast majority of content is NOT sex or gambling related. It's not even worth arguing about...you guys are totally wrong.

You know, I have no problem with gambling and sex being in second life, but there are thousands of citizens that don't take part in either of these activities--and whether you all want to hear this or not, a lot of people think getting rid of both are a good idea. Many land owners hate the casino and clubs near their land or parcel.

You'll probably also find that a lot of people who are into gambling and sex (or both at the same time even) are actually into lots of other things too.

I'd bet (if we were allowed) there's actually only a very tiny percentage of players who come ONLY for one or the other of those.

It depends on what you mean by related.

Clothing, hair, skins , shoes , etc are indirectly related to sex since often people dress to catch the eye of a potential mate.

Houses, etc are indirectly related to sex since people "live together" in Second Life. and the house usually includes sexual animations.

Dance/Night clubs are indirectly related to sex since people often go there to meet potential date partners.

Of course Sex clubs, Escort clubs are directly related to sex.

Gor is dirextly related to sex - since the majority of the women walk around mostly naked all the time.

the BDSM part of D/S is of course directly related to sex.

The entire virtual wedding industry is directly related to sex ..

The entire prim baby industry is directly related to sex ..

The entire security orb industry is directly related to sex ..

and it could not really be in a worse U.S. state..if it were in one of the states with more freedoms from the state itself we wouldn't be losing certain things..But it is..it was nice when we were out of sight out of mind..

This is an absolutely weak weak weak argument point. That would be like saying EVERYTHING in RL is created, just for the end result of "hooking up."

Yes, sex is on our minds a lot--we get this point. We are biological creatures that are driven to procreate...No one is saying it's not true. But it is by no means the driving factor of SL. Nor the real life.

Please, let us not get into a sociological discussion about the ID, EGO, and SUPEREGO...It really does this conversation no justice. Telling me that the majority of content in SL is created for the end-purpose of having sex is completely ridiculous, and would be thrown out of court in a second.

I could list literally millions of CONTENT items that have nothing to do with sex whatsoever...if you want to play the six-degrees of Kevin Bacon sex connection...have fun, I'm not playing.

I have a strong feeling that no matter what ANYONE says...you guys will have an answer. So, I drop out of this discussion now...

Thanks for listening.

Depends what you mean by sex.

If you mean procreation... no, the above isn't true.

If you mean raunchy, hot, sweaty, grinding passion.... yes, it's true. ;)

Stop moving the goal posts

The argument was that it was related.

Not that sex was the end purpose in evey case.

Your flair for hyperbole is really impressive - you couldnt list millions of items of anything let alone items not related to sex.

The sheer act of listing a million items would take you months, reguardless of if they were related or not.

Because it ain't so, Michael. Take my sim, for instance. There's no strip clubs and nobody's out Doing It on the lawns...the place is strictly residential and, on the surface, it's a nice quiet little group of tropic isles with tasteful builds on them.

But go inside anybody's house, and you'll find scripted beds, poseballs with suggestive names, cuddle rugs, couches...

SEX is the Number One topic on the minds of most of humanity, even the vast majority like you and me, who aren't out looking for it at every moment. SL, as well as RL, shows this clearly. Products are advertised with SEX, even products like cars and toothpaste that have nothing to do with it "directly". Nearly every movie, even ones rated PG, have one or more sex scenes, even if they aren't graphically explicit. Even as squeaky-clean an outfit as Disney uses sex to sell its stuff...haven't you noticed how attractive their heroines are? Belle, Jasmine, Ariel, Mu Lan...they'd all make great SL avatars.

Sex makes the world go round, my friend...and if SL ever tries to ban sex, SL will stop going round.

I have to wonder whats next in Linden's great crusade to get people to accept that the only way to get Lindens is to buy them from the Lindex. What if we are told we cannot work or sell stuff? Linden would love it if every single resident bought from the Lindex and did not get their Lindens anywhere else.

I have felt that I have been picked on by Linden for the past months just because I do not buy from the Lindex.

If people can't sell stuff, why would we need Lindens to spend?

They are not doing all this because they are anti-porn or against gambling or they want to be the morality police, but because they want to protect their investment. The are taking the right step, because they are trying to keep the Real Governments out of SL.

If people would learn to regulate their own actions, we would have less laws.

Shouldnt it be the other way around? not just the gambling but everything thats been going down. Including our sexual freedoms as human beings.

I wish I could fly, build a sky scraper on a 1026m2 piece of land out of nothing and make robots and stuff that follow me and obey my commands without spending a fortune IRL.

I guess I should look into Europe. I hear they can do ALL that stuff there! ;)

From: errUh Oh
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, if im terrorized in rl i can at least call the cops.

Considering the cops are a joke IRL in many places I don't neccessarily see this as a positive.

In SL you are usually just as well equipped to deal with "terrorists" as the "terrorists" are to spread fake terror!

From: errUh Oh
P.S. fix your damn game. Im tired of crashing everytime i empty my trash

You don't HAVE to be here no matter how bad your addiction is.

Besides, I hear Entropia works pretty well!

You're just being difficult Colette. I think I made my point crystal clear.

The last thing I'll say about this sex thing is...

My studio is on Silicon Island--on the entire island, you won't find ONE thing related to sex. I think there are around 30 businesses that have offices here...not one is in the sex industry.

And playing the ultimate-sex-connection-game isn't fooling anybody with half a brain. Yes sex sells, I know that...but making blurry connections based on evolution and instinct is far from the point.
