setting the record straight

Hello :o

Seeing as there is a bit of a firestorm going on that I inadvertantly caused, I thought I had better step forward and set the story straight.

I am the complete idiot who set the wrong price on my land. I was trying to set the price to 23999 linden, but foolishly dropped a 9. So I left my land set for 2399, a tempting bargain to anyone! Lesson learned: Do not set land prices at 1 am, it will only lead to tears.

When my land was purchased, at first I didn't think anything of it. I have a large tract, and it was subdivided into smaller lots, a few of which had already sold. So I continued with the project I was working on. It wasn't until a bit later that I took a break to see what had sold (It was in group land so I went to check the group records). I was confused at first, because the amount was so low. I did some figuring, felt my stomach do flip flops, and figured again, and again! I couldn't believe what a complete and utterly stupid mistake I had made! I was beside myself and in a panic. I will truthfully admit, it never once occured to me to IM the buyer and ask for my land back. I truly thought that no one would ever do that! A bargain is a bargain, right?

So, I tearfully IM'd my partner and told him what I had done. While I was standing in the middle of my lot, Land Rush came along to see me. Now, I had IM'd Wrestling Hulka the night before. I've known him for almost as long as I've been in Second Life! He was my next door neighbor in our First Land days, and even though we both long since gone our separate ways, I do consider him a friend. I knew that he was involved in real estate in some way and I wanted to show him my land and ask his advice. I had *no* idea he had an alt named Land Rush.

So, I talked to Land Rush, who immediately told me he was Hulka, and I was relieved. I thought at first he was the one who bought the land. I soon discovered it was someone named Weedy, and he suggested that I IM her and ask her to come, and he would sell back to her so she could sell back to us. I told him I didn't think *anyone* would do that, but he said to ask anyway. So, trusting his judgement, I went ahead and IM'd Weedy, who immediately asked for a TP back.

Weedy readily agreed to sell my land back to us. and the transaction was completed with complete professionalism on both sides. I know nothing really of this conflict between the two of them, except what I have read here in the forum and been told by both sides since then. All I can attest to is this: both Weedy and Wrestling were very understanding and neither balked for a moment at selling back land to a distaught fool who had made a stupid, but honest, mistake. They have both reaffirmed my belief that there are good people in Second Life. I hope that I have cast some light on the situation, and I hope that everyone can come to some kind of understanding and stop this fighting.

Lets give peace a chance. C'mon... group hug.... ^.^

Thank you for sharing that and quit beating yourself up for making a simple error. We all have done it and I'm glad that all parties behaved in a professional manner and did the 'right thing' as opposed to what is allowed by the TOS.
