boo hoo hooooooooo *sniffle* You're right Prok! It's a travesty! Because we all know that all anyone needs to do to have fun in SL is sit on their tier free 4096 twiddling their feted thumbs.

Last time I checked, $225 isn't the same as free.

Since I bought the lifetime membership for $225, I've had 17 months of service. That works out to about $13.25 per month for a 4096 sq m land tier. It's a good deal that gets better with time, but $13.25 per month still isn't free.

$6.00/month, billed annually -- so that's working out to $72.

$15/month, billed monthly -- so that's working out to $180

Total for one year of enjoyment of my 4096 (plus the free 512 that comes with the premium account): $252.

Smashing deal, huh?

Prior to the Land Tier payment structure, it was $14.95/mo. You could own as much land as you could afford to buy, but had to pay a weekly tax on all prims you had rezzed on tax day. Lighted prims were surcharged by volume.

So finally we have a definate 'what is FIC' and it equals 'People who have a lifetime account'

Hmmm but that wouldn't make sense at all - as there are people with life accounts who aren't 'Feted' not 'Inner' anything, nor the 'Core' of a single thing!

My mother has a lifetime subscription to Pravda - I can't get one, I'm gonna call her up back home and tell her what a uppity bitch she is.

Some folks say 'the more things change the more they stay the same'
I prefer : 'the more things change, the more retarded they get'

Siggy.

Wait a second. Wait JUST a second. Are you saying that the $225 wasn't just a payment for tier for 4096, it was the WHOLE MEMBERSHIP????

It's worse than I knew!

You're exactly right, I paid $225 for what you can now get for $9.95.

I'm not sure you totally understand that these memberships were sold under an entirely different ruleset.

Except...if you had themed builds in a special program, the Lindens waived the tax on prims :D

Could you speak a little bit more about that, Juro?

I'm probably not the best person to elaborate on that, Prok, since I never took part in any themed-type builds. I wouldn't be surprised though and it would probably fit nicely into LL's history of experimenting with different things inworld.

Maybe someone who participated in a themed build during the tax days could give you better insight.

I'd ask Eggy - not only was he around during those times, but also participated in the Americana project.

So did Garth and Pituca, Fleabite Beach, Crowcatcher Valen off the top of my head.

If I recall correctly, the reason Americana closed was due to prim/land taxes.

Siggy.

I still have a hard time really seeing the difference, except in appearance, between the new system and the old prim tax system.

I mean, you're stilling paying for prims on a monthly basis.. you just have to pay for land as well!

I guess the former system is easier to relate to.

Um, despite your throwing around jargonistic words like "ruleset" I think I can do the math here, hon.

It doesn't matter what the rules were, cut the poetry, give me the numbers.

You paid $225 to get free tier for life. In one year, it is is $18.75 per month for both your membership and your tier. Then after that year, it disappears, and you have no membership fee, no tier fee.

I pay $24.95 per month for a total of $299.40 for one year, the same year you're counting, to get my $9.95 month premium membership and my $15/mo tier.

At the end of my year, I get to do the same thing again and pay ANOTHER $299.40.

Whereas you have FREE FREE FREE membership and tier after that.

Honestly, you're so embedded in the privileges that you can't see them!

You're so convinced of your own rightness that you don't even listen to others.

Not that I'm making a judgement call here...

I think it's more "What's the point, Prokofy?".

Yes, the $225 was a smashing deal and each year you hang around, the deal looks better and better.

So, what's the point?

OH... ok. That's it? You raised this boo-hoo-whine-fest because it was a fixed cost that gets better looking when broken down to monthly payments the longer you stay in the game?

Smashing deal, huh?

I'm sorry you have such trouble comprehending that the rules changed. I paid $225 because I believed SL would be around in 2.5 years to make my investment worthwhile.

How can I put this more simply... land tiers did not exist.

But anyway, I have broken my rule of not responding to trolls and I apologize to the rest of the community.

Here is a mystery I have been pondering.

Prokofy Neva hates Linden Lab and its policies. Prokofy Neva hates a very small group of people who have been here for a very long time because he resents their being able to take advantage of a pretty sweet, short-term deal. Prokofy Neva hates anyone who disagrees with him. Prokofy Neva can never be seen speaking with satisfaction or enthusiasm, except when speaking in response to praise from one of his alts.

If this is such a miserable experience, why do you stay and make us miserable, Prokofy? Leave us alone, please. Many people are quite happy being happy and filing bug reports and asking questions when occasionally things don't go their way.

You seem to spend an inordinate amount of time complaining like a child about quite literally everything about this experience. You are loathed because your chief obsession is loathing. What possible benefit do you derive from this?

So you are suggesting that the mythical FIC has precognitive powers? That's pretty cool.

(oops, broke my promise again)
