Second, I have many alts which I do not want to be connected with this user account. That would be bad news.
Third, how do we know that he hasn't done a cross comparison check on all the users accounts that have posted to SLUniverse and said
"oh so this is the alt of this person and this person" so when he posts on secondlife.com he knows who to trash talk?
Maybe this is why he's always making those claims about who is an alt of who? Cause he knows from sluniverse.com?
Probably not. I have a lot of respect for cristiano about this (or I would never have visited his forums). However, I'm not so sure now. He's confident he's got Prokofy's IP address. It's almost like he's gone in and figured it out.
I doubt it, but it certainly gave me that feeling. I would feel better if he had something in his privacy policy saying that he doesn't look at that data and it's only there if the law comes knocking. I'm sorry, but even as a net n00b, I realized that all IP's could be tracked -- and you, Mr. Blaze, Mr. "I Am An Internet Genius and Have Done Programming for Years" -- you didn't know this and are showing paranoia? My, my, my. Cris, I'm sorry. But your scheme has failed, but oh it worked so wonderfully for awhile. You should tell both Prof and lil' blaze who their alts really are.  After all, lil blaze is probably changing his pair of Depends right at this moment. I can't hold back the truth any longer. Tell them, Cris! Tell them about your grandiose scheme of figuring out who their alts are - c'mon, let's have a huge expose' on SLUniverse. $500 Lindens say Prof is actually Schwanson. $500 Lindens say that blaze is actually Nolan. Any takers?

Isnt it amazing how a thread about an internationally known forum troll suddenly gets turned into an attack on one of SL's most helpful residents - BY said troll.
It would'nt suprise me one bit if you'd been reported to the FBI,you'd actually be the third person I know of in second life who has.
What many people actually fail to realise is that they can be breaking REAL laws, albeit in a game, and can be reported to real life law enforcement for doing so.
The internet is just another communication medium in the way that telephones and mail are and in many cases the same laws pertaining to harrassment DO apply here.

Any takers? The whole plot was a complete failure. The only thing that I discovered is that I am the alt of Laquita Maracas. It was a shock to me, but the IP addresses confirmed it. As far as Schwanson actually being Prokofy, say it isn't so! I don't want to think that the person I have cybered with all these months is actually Prokofy.

Good reason never to go to this untrustworthy site, people. They capture your IPS and try to use it to hone in on your place of business or residence in RL and to "track" you around the internet.
It is not on the SL profile, and as such is NOT repeat NOT fair game for revelation in the game or outside of it.
You visited thier site - so... probably not a whole lot you can do about it. While it would violate TOS to distribute it inworld or on the forums, it isn't covered if it is distributed at another site. I suggest unplugging your computer and cancelling your DSL if you're that concerned over your privacy. |

Perhaps you need to re-read your original post and mine and figure out what you're missing.
What you, and probably 99% of the posters in these forums have a hard time with is disagreement.
I happened to technically disagree with Cristiano on his evaluation of his privacy policy, but I am neither libelling him or his website, nor am I "hero" worshipping Prokofy (because I agree with his need for privacy? oh please!)
No, I actually think Cristiano is a brilliant fellow and contributes amazing things. Is he 100% perfect human being and everything he touches turns to gold? Obviously not. So I called attention to one of those things which I think are less than perfect - his privacy policy.
There is a rare subset around here, Forseti (off being a dad), Buster Peel (well, most of the time), Seth Kanoe, StoneSelf, and Margaret, and a few others who can actually read some of these statements and ideas without getting completely freaked out.
Prokofy is clearly not one of these people. But, simply, neither are you or Cristiano or Chip Midnight, and a few other other folks around here that just fire off angry little missives everytime someone dares to disagree.
I'm holding out that eventually you folks will come around and stop getting upset simply because you see a little cognitive dissonance. And, truthfully, it's been my experience that eventually people do grow up and realise that all this constant anger is not worth the high blood pressure.
Either that or they die of heart attacks, I guess.
