I believe the term "soccer mom" first came into use during a Clinton political campaign when it was noted that he was getting most of the soccer mom vote, as a broadly defined demographic.
When I was driving my kids in the minivan and noticed that soccer ball bouncing around, I thought, hmmmm... Anyway, nothing the slightest bit wrong with being a soccer mom. Or an MILF. I was referred to as that once. Had to ask what it meant. I've felt flattered ever since, lol. coco _____________________

That is equally the problem with labelling someone's motives as something as well. You being insulted by "soccer mom" made sense to me after you explaining it. However, Kendra/Ulrika labelling it misogyny does not. That speaks to motivation. His example may have been poor - he could have used other examples to get the point across - but blanket labelling something as misogynistic, like calling something racist, speaks to the person's motivations and labels the person at the same time. Poor choice? Yeah. Misogynistic, nope. Since lobbying works most effectively by a "group" I would offend any group that i mention. I used the soccer moms because it is a true story and thats all, no evil plot, no malicious intent. |

Ok. I conceed(sp). Yes. I see your point here Cris. I was more upset with the terms, and figured the original poster did not understand how it could be *super insulting*. Poor choice yes. I'll stick to that. Its funny no one wants to debate about the topic instead they want to focus on one "word". Ok since one word is more important than a thaught I will for now on leave an underline for you to fill in later. Kinda like adlibs. |

That's just me though. That is my vision but only people with slacker husbands drive Fords. The drive the little Benz truck or the BMW one around here, maybe the Lexus. Well I drive a blue Ford Windstar but I really really wanted it, and I LOVE it, and my husband is definitely not a slacker, he's a teacher, lol. (And in grad school, definitely no slacker.) But I know others who do have those fancy cars. In ADDITION to their minvan and sportscar, lol.
I wouldn't buy Prada if I could, I never touch coffee, and I don't own a Blackberry. I'm SURE not a trophy wife, but there are a bunch of them around here in the suburbs for sure, and bunches of them look alike, mostly blonde, it seems. In our case it's been ballet and soccer and softball, and their names aren't Meghan and Sage - but other than all that, yeah, I'm right there in soccer mom territory, and I approximate that description; plus there are a bunch who are almost EXACTLY that description. coco _____________________
