From: Kendra Bancroft you're right --it's not misogynist. It's gender stereotyping Not at all. The stereotype isn't really female. The stereotype is of a (somewhat typical) American who votes for whatever soundbites sound best. In 2000, it was Soccer Moms. In 2004, it was NASCAR Dads. Male/Female make no difference.

From: Kendra Bancroft why specify "moms" --why not soccer parents? Dad's don't go to Soccer games, Mommies do. Dads go to Football Games! HTH GO BEARS!

GO BEARS! Pfft.. My husband hates sports. If it were not for me, our daughter wouldn't know squat about sports. Other than Sportsbike racing of course (which my husband does). hehe EDIT to add: I played Basketball for four years on my high school team. I love that game.

From: Kendra Bancroft The term Soccer Mom is not misogynist or insulting in and of itself. The implication that all Soccer Mom's are the same, and that they are ineffectice time wasters is what is misogynist and insulting. What?!?!?!? Are you saying that playing SL is a waste of time???? coco

Do you people take everything literally? I don't care about if your husbands like sports or not. Thanks for sharing.

From: Eboni Khan Right, because German Stereotypes are the only acceptables. You mean that they start world wars, spell things with gratuitous k's, and like David Hasslehoff's music?

This thread has outlived it's arguable usefulness and is a waste of bandwith. As such this thread is deemed retarded.

Or maybe this fits: 1. Squid A young motorcyclist who overestimates his abilities, boasts of his riding skills when in reality he has none. Squid bikes are usually decorated with chrome and various anodized bits. Rear tyres are too wide for their own good, swingarm extended. Really slow in the corners, and sudden bursts of acceleration when a straight appears. Squids wear no protection, deeming themselves invincible. This fact compounds intself with the fact that they engage in 'extreem riding'--performing wheelies and stoppies in public areas. Squids wreck alot. Derived from 'squirly kid' also see stunta

See, if you had said Squid, I would have known what you meant. And no, he is not a squid. As a matter of fact, he wears his full body leathers when he goes riding in the mountains with his friends. They are all very anti-squid.

Let me tell you the story of the “soccer mom” post. About 24 hours ago I posted a thought that I had pertaining to granting of governing power in SL to the users. No one wanted to address the actual idea I was presenting. Instead they persisted to concentrate on one word. The way in which the “Intellectuals” choose to respond to this idea, by concentrating on a word not the content or the idea, proves my point. Let me explain this further. By choosing to debate on a “word” rather than “idea” shows how incapable these people are to perform in a political debate. Another point is they want to sensor me in a forum for using a word. They want to put up “stop signs” on everything they see as detrimental and offensive, though most of the responders do not feel the statement was offensive. They are closed minded individuals who use pure emotion rather than logic and reason to express themselves. The criticisms I received about my idea were on these subjects: the word “soccer mom” and “misspelled words”. Not one person chose to comment on the content nor did they comment on the idea in itself. Thanks for the help in providing free actual evidence to support my idea.

I never claimed to be an intellectual. And yes I do make decisions based a lot on emotion. That's just who I am. Doesn't mean I'm not educated or smart, but I certainly would never claim to be a "logical" person. I'm very much a dreamer and major opptimist (who also has a lot of issues with spelling). I did comment on your post. I said you sounded a lot like Neal Boortz. I also said the post was deragotory to women. I didn't tell you to change what you wrote, or take it away. So I don't see how you were censored? I just later explained to those who asked me why I felt the term was deragatory. And yes, someone can make the best post in the world, but if a term/word used within that post offends someone, the original poster can pretty much assume that person isn't going to give a flip about what else they said. For many that is just human nature.
