SL Hacked! Whodunnit?

He is gone from the in-world memberlist.
I also can't find the group, but I may not know the exact group name.

Please don't attribute the actions of one person to any group they were once a member of. W-Hat had nothing to do with this, and anyone within the group we have discovered using exploits to steal anything is being ejected immediately.

/me counts his ill gotten exploit money.

Little do they know we have been siphoning money off all the major producers in SL for the past few months and filtering it through our network of slot machines. The so called in game mafia families can't even touch this.

My join date is recent because, unsurprisingly, I am a new user. I only recently decided to check out SL and see what the fuss is all about, and am enjoying my time so far.

I do, however, know a lot of W-Hat people and they have been more than helpful in getting me up and running. I know just how seriously and with extreme prejudice any exploiters or griefers in general have been booted.

So can anyone provide more information on (edited) and the group "w-hat"? I'm curious what their back story is to help put this incident in context.

I'm not (edited), so I'm not going to deal with the first part of the question, but W-Hat is a group of SL players who tend to get accused as a group for a lot of stuff more precisely attributable to a very small subset of its members.

Edit for precision: When someone in the group breaks the rules, they get tossed out of the group. Anyone in the group caught using exploits has been tossed.

Guys... one of the leaders of W-Hat was one of the most active people in getting lindens to ACT on it and got hardware banned as a result of trying to make the lindens fix the problem.

Not only have the people who stole shit been ejected from our group with liberal prejudice, they have been AR'ed and will likely be hardware banned very shortly.

Oh... and just because someone is new or old doens't qualify them as any more or credible than anyone else. I know PLENTY of oldbies (without naming names as that free speech is punishible in these forums) that are complete ***holes and dumb***es.

I've just been told that there is detailed information posted on the forums at SLUniverse. I cannot link to it here because it would violate the Guidelines. Look in the "Rants, Rumors and Drama" section.

So what do you do as a group, out of curiosity? While I've heard the name of the group mentioned before, I've never actually figured out what you do.

*ponders* Yes, W-hat does exist, and is in fact led by Plastic Duck. I know I've seen Plastic Duck quite a bit in the Welcome Area when I was new to the game. And it is true that Plastic Duck doesn't show up on the Find Feature.

Does this mean absolutely that he/she did it? No, it means they could have decided to have the account removed, as far as I know. So, it's purely rumor and I'd suggest waiting until a Linden decides they can safely talk about it without getting a written warning.

Plastic Duck not only doesn't lead W-Hat, he never has. The idea is ridiculous.

As for what we do as a group, well, that's tougher to pin down. We mainly share a particular sense of humor, and use the shared land in Baku to create things in line with that sense of humor. It's very, very rare that we as a group go out and do things, it's more common that a few folks in the group will go do stuff. As for what they do, I don't know, you'd have to ask them, I keep to myself and build stuff.

Edit: vvv see that's exactly what I'm talking about. I didn't do any of that crap and some of it I find repugnant. Blame the individual who did it, please, not a group they may or may not be a member of.

Their headquarters in Baku. They claim to be performance artists, but I find them to be more griefer-like. The do things they know will intentionally get a rise out of people. They're clearly a bunch of people who want attention, and failing to have the skills to receive positive attention, yearn for the negative. For example, recently they put the Saddam-era Iraqi flag and the Taliban-era Afghan flag on the London Bombing Memorial... oh, and Hulk Hogan too, for some reason. W-hat members mostly comes from this website: http://www.somethingawful.com. It gives a clearer picture of their sense of humor.

um... no. just... no.

One, W-Hat DOES exist, but it is led by Bakuzelas Khan and Masakazu Kojima. Neither of these individules is Plastic Duck. In fact they both want to punch him very hard in the face for the reputation he gave our group as a result of this ****storm.

(edited) doesn't show up in Find because he has been permabanned for the last couple months. He got on an alt (edited) and that is the account he used to rip all those scripts. All the actual content posted was ripped by that one account in a half hour time-span and then uploaded by the same individual along with the hacked client. As far as I know, the person who released the link to the chat channel was NOT in fact Plastic but someone else.

I know this information because he got on AIM and told me, plain and simple.

I lolled.

Plastic Duck was banned before this whole exploit thing was even on the radar.

A month or two ago, if I'm not mistaken.

Also, yes, please stop attributing everything to a group, a group that has had a tendency to become the red-headed stepchild of the metaverse. ZOMFG W-HAT!!!111eleven

People who level claims against an entire group of 400+ users of SL are no better than people who claim to "hate all furries" or whatever.

They're users from a website, Somethingawful.com. That's about the extent of their similarities.

There were some really offensive things up on the London bombing memorial - but those weren't them.

In fact as a Londoner most of the display was offensive - a couple of pieces particularly so. The one I ARed was by a Linden.
