These are the current rules, the original rules follow.


''1.' This game is named Forum Nomic. This document is the set of rules by which Forum Nomic is run.

'2.' "Forum" in this ruleset is taken to mean this bulletin board, located at <http://forums.secondlife.com>

'3.' All players must abide by all rules currently in effect. The author of each message replying to this post is considered a player, unless they state that they do not wish to be a player. The Roster, or list of players, is part of the game state. Any player may forfeit their player status at will by by posting their forfeiture to this post.

'4.' The Administrator is a player who is responsible for maintaining the ruleset and the game state, and regularly posting these to the Forum. The identification of the Administrator is part of the game state. The Administrator is Catfart Grayson.

'5.' Any player may propose a rule change by posting a message describing the change to be made to this post. Players responding to a message containing a proposal are entitled to one vote each on it, until five votes have been cast on the proposal. At that point, if there are more votes in favor than against, the change is made by the Administrator; otherwise the message loses its proposal status. No player is entitled to more than one vote on any proposal.

'6.' The score of each player is part of the game state. Initially the score of a player is 0.

'7.' Anything not prohibited in the rules is allowed. The game state may only be changed as described in the rules.

'8' Willow Zander is Eggy Lippmann's sex slave.

'9' There is no rule 9

Right judegment time on my part. The first rule to be passed was actually labled rule 13.
But Im going to asume that was just the number that Neehai thought was next. So Im going to put this into rule 10

'10' Use of the word "quintuplet" in any rule proposal will result in immediate disqualification of the person proposing the rule.

Now, here's the point, the next rule to be approved was this one
'11' that Danny DeGroot will be personally liable for a one time payment of $250L to the author of the proposal accepted into the Game State as Rule 10, such liability to be discharged within seven days of the rule's acceptance,

but,

that such liability shall be null and void if no Rule 10 has been accepted into the Game State by March 1, 2005.
'12' Siobhan Taylor can do what she wants, as long as she does'nt tickle Willow Zander.
'13' The correct maner for prposals to be communicated is cynacism. Extra points will be awarded to players for being bitter and/or jaded.(ADMINISTRATOR NOTE: There are however no rules on how, when or how many points are to awarded)
'14' The official mascot of SL Nomic is pie. The filling of said pie shall be determined by Kris Ritter and may change at will (ADMINISTRATORS NOTE: What is SL Nomic? This game is Forum Nomic.
'15' All proposals must be easy to understand. A proposal may not contain words with over 4 syllables.
'16' The use of obviously trivial proposals with absolutely no bearing on anything is restricted. Players who continue to propose silly proposals be punished by the traditional method of a stern look and wagged finger (ADMIN: No definition of restricted, no definition of trivial )

I propose a new rule is added:

Rule 8: The first player to reach 50 points is declared the winner. The game ends at that point.

I vote Yes to Zuzi's proposal

I propose a new rule:

Rule 10: All votes must last at least 12 hours. At the end of twelve hours from the initial suggestion of the vote, a determination will be made based on a simple majority of votes cast on the issue.

I vote no on Zuzi's proposal. There should ALWAYS be a Rule 9.

The lack of a Rule 9 would undermine the very moral fabric of the forums.

I vote No to Neehai's proposal as it contradicts rule 5

Rule 11: I propose that the Administrator only be allowed to cast votes in the case of a tie.

I vote no to Neehai's proposal for rule 11 as there is no need for it. Under rule 5, there can never be a tie.

I propose Rule 12.

Rule 12: No one with the name Catfart will be allowed to cast a vote as the name Catfart is unnecessary.

I reject Neehai's proposal for rule 12 as it is against the rules;

Rule 5 states that a player can vote. Rule 4 states that there must be an Administrator, that the Administrator is a player and that the Administrator is Catfart Grayson. If Catfart Grayson cannot vote, he cannot be a player, if he cannot be a player, he cannot be the administrator.

Neehai's proposal is against the rules as it would remove the Administrator, which is forbidden by rule 4

I propose Rule 13:

Rule 13: Use of the word "quintuplet" in any rule proposal will result in immediate disqualification of the person proposing the rule.

What do you mean by disqualification? Of the proposal or from the game?

Proposed,

that upon acceptance of this language into the Game State, all proposal authors must thenceforth use a standard nomenclature for submitting proposals,

that the nomenclature shall consist of a prefix between two and five characters in length, followed by a hyphen, followed by a 3-digit series number, with leading zeroes as necessary,

that the prefix for proposals shall be unique and private for each proposal author,

that each proposal author may utilize only one such prefix,

that the first public use of the prefix shall be adequate notice of both a player's claim upon it, and the player's responsibility not to vary from it, except as listed below,

that a player, by claiming a prefix for proposals, shall claim (and may employ at will) all variations in case of the letters utilized therein, such variations constituting the scope of the player's liberty with the published prefix,

that a player is responsible for correctly incrementing the three-digit series component between proposals,

that a proposal designation, once utilized, may not be utilized again during the lifespan of the game,

that a player may skip sequence numbers, but that a player may never introduce a lower sequence number subsequent to the employment of a higher one, and that an error against this clause shall remove the proposal from public consideration, and shall cause the termination from game of the author if not corrected within 24 hours of the first post to the thread identifying the error (the author of which shall be referred to as the "first critic", and that such correction must consist of a direct edit to the post with an acceptable sequence number, and that such an edit, if performed, shall reinstate the proposal for public consideration, and, further, shall burden the first critic with a need to post an acknowledgement of the correction within 24 hours of the edit, else the first critic shall be terminated from the game.

AND,

that the Administrator, upon successful passage of this proposal into the Game State, shall perform a one-time renumbering and compacting of all existing rules in the game state, numbering the first historically-accepted rule as "Rule 0", removing gaps in the series (except as mandated by existing game state), and thereafter accepting new rules by awarding them the prefix "Rule " and the next unused positive integer.

The Administrator should not be allowed to submit rules. Also, you started with 5 rules. That is plenty.

I propose that this really doesn't work with forums

There are not quite enough votes to agree or reject any of the existing proposals, so the rules are still as stated in the orginal post. If you are just joining, please voteon the existing proposls before making your own.
