If folks are looking to stay on budget, I recommend the Hotel San Remo in North Beach. Small European-style rooms (i.e., bathroom is down the hall) at insanely low rates for SF. No one I know who's stayed there complained about having to share the bathrooms, as they're kept very clean, plus you're walking distance to the heart of North Beach. And in this case, a slightly longer walk to Linden Lab, which is best reached by walking up Columbus, turning left on Vallejo, stopping for an espresso and tiramisu at the world-famous Caffe Trieste (where Francis Ford Coppola wrote The Godfather), and continuing up Vallejo, over the hill, where you will be greeted by a vista view of the Bay Bridge and Treasure Island, and a long set of steep stairs that descend through a public garden. On your way down, you may hear the odd squawkings of birds, or even see them zip by you in quick flashes of green and red-- these will, in all likelihood, be the beloved Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill, who live with their lovably eccentric caretaker a few blocks over.
At the bottom of those long downward stairs will be Sansome, gateway to LL.

Thanks for the tips, Hamlet. Just so everyone knows, those of us who started this insanity are staying at: The Omni San Francisco 500 California Street (What a creative name for a street) San Francisco, CA Its half a mile from Linden Lab. From Priceline.com, we got this Hotel in the Union Square/Embarcedaro district for $90 per night + fees, so for BOTH nights, I think we're paying $210 per room... which is insanely cheap too. Its also a 4-star hotel. We'll all be there the nights of the 22nd and 23rd. I believe Adam Zaius is staying longer, as is Maxx Monde. I'm not sure about anyone else. This is going to be a blast - I guess we should officially start calling this SL-Con I! Next summer, let's do the east coast. Regards, -Flip _____________________

Is there still a whiteboard up to sign or stuff? I think it should be sprayed with some sort of protective coating (if not already) so signatures and blurbs don't get wiped out.
