Like the sound of one hand clapping!

Oh and speaking of religion in school:

November 1, 2005 ยท Maine becomes the third state to turn down federal funding for school-based sex education because new stricter rules mean the funds can be used only for programs that teach abstinence only. Pennsylvania and California have taken the same step.

Yeah, I did a summary that tied it all up too, but hey, why not?

*sigh*

Things were much easier back in the times of classic conservatism, when the question would be more like:

"WTF business is it of the Feds' what I can and can't teach in my school!?"

Yeah them were the days so maybe we can settle it once and for all with an old fashioned chainsaw battle winner take all.

Teach religion in Mythology class, where it belongs.
You have your own Mythology class? :)

They're too busy cutting educational funding - stupid citizens are much easier to handle. ;)

Funding for education has historically been local. The reason people like local control is because it's easier to fire County government employees than it is to fire Federal government employees.

The Federal government shouldn't offer 5% of the money and demand 100% of the control imho.

Heh, I'm all for local control as long as it conforms to the 1st Amendment. What I'm saying though is that the old conservative argument for less government intrusion is far preferable, IMHO, to the new religious conservative argument that a particular religion should be allowed in the school. I can understand why good Christian folk might object to the godless philosophies and practices that often fill the vacuum in schools. But why insist on taking over the whole school system? What was wrong with vouchers?
