I doubt some Americans could pass our own naturalization test. Do you really think America would be such a powerful nation without the influx of immigrants during our birth?

Common misconception held by truly stupid people. Firstly, the vast majority of undocumented workers in the US got their job using a false social security number. That means they pay taxes out of their paychecks like the rest of us. Furthermore, Since they used false SS numbers to obtain the job in the first place, they can never collect ANY social security benefits when they wish to retire. They are NOT eligible for food stamps, housing, medical coupons, wellfare, or any other social program. They rarely seek any involvment with the government for fear of deportation. It's a complete MYTH that they "drain" money from social services. In fact, and an often not discussed problem is; What will social security do if we manage to deport all those workers?(some estimates put the number of undocumented workers at 20 million currently in the US!) Imagine the drain on our social security if we lost all those contributers that can never collect.
In fairness I'll conceed that the one area we might lose a bit to this population is in the school systems. The majority of undocumented workers rent and therefore do not pay income tax, yet their children still use the school system. The boon from free money into the SS system in general makes up for this though.

Let's split the difference of the various estimates of the numbers of undocumented workers and say there is 15 million currently in the US. How in the world are we going to round up that many people and ship them back? Imagine the legal cost, manpwer, transportation cost of sending all the undocumented workers back to their various points of origin. Good luck solving that problem.

This is a good joke, it has absolutely nothing to do with supply and demand. How many billions do we pay farmers in welfare, er, subsidies every year? Yea, our healthy agriculture economy is chugging right along, just like our awesome Car industry that can't seem to make a car smaller than an african elephant or last longer than a fake casio wrist watch. This has nothing to do with supply and demand.
Trickle down economics didn't work for Regan and they won't work now.
Why don't we spend our money on something useful, like I don't know, hunting Bin Laden or building a giant space elevator? Those are just two examples off the top of my head. I could think of more useful ways of spending tax payer money, like rounding up people like you and shooting them.

I have spent a great deal of time in Farming communities doing highway Survey, and have talked to hundred's of land owners and am very sympathetic to the plight of the small farmer, but I also realize that they are becoming fewer and farther between, as corporate farms take over. Large corporation can afford to pay a living wage, and for the small family farmer , there are legal ways to bring in migrant workers. So the excuse that it will destroy the Ag industry is a crock. Yes it is a lil more expensive to bring in legal workers from Mexico, but not all that much and i do think those who do it that way should earn points towards being able to stay if that is their wish

Yes, migration has always been part of life, but migrating groups have always faced resistence from competing groups. Additionally, nobody is proposing that we eliminate MIGRATION into the US. The concern is for the massive flow of illegal immigrants that go unchecked across the southern border of the US.

How many more do you think will flow across the border if we open it up? Remember, 12-20 million have come across ILLEGALLY, with border guards and INS agrents doing at least some work to prevent them.

I would suggest keeping up border security, but stop acting like you're holding back barbarians at the gate. Make immigration easier for those genuinely seeking to be productive members of your society, and then the only people streaming across the desert are going to be the people you want to keep out...the criminals and smugglers.
