Guests at 40-yr-old Frank Aquino's Memorial Day Bar-B-Que reported that he viscously kicked a 15-yr-old deaf and blind dog to death. Roxie, the dog, wandered into Aquino's yard during the B-B-Q attraced by the smell of food. Witnesses say that after Aquino kicked Roxi so hard in the stomach, she rolled several times and then staggered to a neighboring yard where she died under a tree. This is where her guardians found their beloved friend, whom they had raised since she was a puppy. "To viciously kick a dog is beyond words," said one of them. "She was such a sweet animal. We'd come in the door and her tail would be wagging. Now she is gone, and in such a horrible way." Being deaf and blind, Roxie couldn't hear or see to run from her attacker! We ask that 40-yr-old Frank Aquino who is charged with aggravated animal cruelty, a felony, if convicted be given the maximum penalty of up to two years jail time and a $5,000 fine. A small price to pay for taking life of a defenseless dog. http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/339420032?ltl=1136159953

It is about time they started putting people in jail for animal cruelty. Most of the time they get a slap on the wrist or a fine. The penalty should fit the crime.

This reminds me of a news story i read many years back about a man who beat, starved, and mistreated a goat so that the animal would 'get mean'. The man was killed when the goat butted him off the front porch and into the yard where the man broke his neck and died instantly.
Mean enough?
I doubt the man acted out of absolute aggression: possibly the dog was not cared well for and wandered over into his yard too often. I agree however that jail time and a fine would be ideal.

That petition website looks like it's harvesting email addresses along with demographics from users who sign their "petitions". Who is this "Sno Lobo" (post count of 1) and was the Off-Topic forum just phished? ~Ulrika~

~Ulrika~ I'm a new SL user and not done much but browse the forums. Far as I can tell, the petition only requests your email address because it uses that to save your data for later petitions(or so I'm told).. a sort of login to sign other petitions without retyping all the data. EDIT: Again, second hand knowledge.

I find the story absolutely disgusting... as presented. And those are the two key words that will get me to NOT sign the petition. If it is true, then the guy does deserve a kick in the nads. But I'm not signing.

Maybe the dog was being mean. It sounds like the guy only kicked the dog once. He probably yelled at it first and the dog couldn't hear him.
If the people next door cared about their dog so much, perhaps they should have kept an eye on it and prevented it from going onto other peoples' property. If I were having a party and some strange dog came into the yard and I thought it might hurt someone, I would do whatever was necessary to make it leave.

Yea, if I wandered into your yard when you were having a party and completely ignored you when you were yelling at me to leave, that would be the next step. Understand now?

Understand now? No. Presumably you speak some English, so yelling at you would probably work. Either way, if it didn't and I kicked you in the gut, I would be in trouble. The dog clearly only speaks Mandarin and didn't know what it was being told.

~Ulrika~ I was in the process of reducing it's size just because it was too big to look good when when I came upon your response, although I had become distracted and might have forgetten to finish the process. Now to go finish. It didn't mess up the forum formatting at it's former width of 634 pixels on my system in IE, Firefox, or Opera browsers, with a screen resolution of 1024 x 768. There are several other signature images that are just as long around. Now it should be half it's former size, not only small enough technically but not so freaking big to the eye.

From: Gabe Lippmann Yes it is. Unless you are actually in serious danger, which is always difficult to prove. You are mistaken. If someone breaks into your home, you can murder them if you'd like. The fact that they have broken into your home puts you in plenty of "serious danger" even if they don't have any weapons. Maybe this guy should have waited until the dog started biting Grandma on the neck before he did anything about it. We must protect the dogs!

Maybe this guy should have waited until the dog started biting Grandma on the neck before he did anything about it. We must protect the dogs! It must be proven to be self defense. The act of breaking into a home is not sufficient to prove the need for killing in self defense. I applaud your need to find a justification for kicking a dog to death, though. Most times these things are not asshat people having a couple of cocktails and venting on a nearby less fortunate creature. Maybe next time the neighbor's kid will look shifty and dangerous.
