From: Ziva Junot For all the people who say the problem is NOT caused by XS4all: you are wrong. I'm not saying XS4all itself causes the problem because it could be very well their way of routing to the SL servers which could be different from other ISPs.
I have both cable from Orange and dsl from XS4all. I have been experiencing the exact same problems as many of you here but not once did I think about switching to my cable isp cause XS4all simply rocks so I assumed they were not the problem. After reading this thread I tested using cable and as you can expect no problem whatsoever.
So on the same machine, cable works fine, the moment I switch to dsl SL goes nuts on a lot of (not every) sims I land on.
If I remember I can do a trace later on to see if theres a difference between the routing of both providers cause I really believe theres a machine somewhere in between messed up(doesnt have to be XS4all or Lindenlab themselves). Yeah, we've concluded that already

From: Morwen Bunin *hacks into the internal XS4ALL network* Morwen No, addresses in the 213 range are used as IP address for regular (ADSL) subscriptions.

From: Morwen Bunin *hacks into the internal XS4ALL network* A succesfull hack of the XS4ALL servers is traditionally rewarded with a home-made apple pie! Lucky you! At least you'll have something to eat while you stare at your frozen avatar!

support group party on a safe sim tonight?
05-01-2007 08:04
Hi all, I know about this party tonight. It'll be starting at 19:30 (Dutch time) and guess what ... it's on a GOOD SIM !! Funny detail: lot of Dutch people on the island and in the club anyway. Even the island owner is Dutch. But everyone is welcome. So feel free to come and party again for a change !! There's a live dj and dancers etc. I'll be there too (please don't let me be the only XS4ALL customer there) ... I know a lot of you are angry about the whole thing, but please transform that anger into positive party energy, even if it's for a couple of hours. First round of drinks is on me !! Even if you normally land in a bad sim, you can still come to the Piramide Club by clicking on this SLurl: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Christels%20Island/66/94/33/. My about screen says: You are at 262466.5, 271454.2, 33.7 in Christels Island located at sim3758.agni.lindenlab.com (64.129.47.15:13004). There are a couple of sitting areas there. If we don't want to party but just talk about the problem thing, we could call it a support group meeting. But really I just want to give anyone who has troubles even logging on due to this problem, a chance to be in a 'safe haven' for once and actually have fun !! CU there? Tot ziens? Dixie Barbosa

FYI - Tonight at 9:50 pm Dutch time I am able to move freely in all sims. Pings are normal. Watches the clock, and hope it lasts longer than 20 mins this time.

10:30 PM , no luck . All my usual problem sims are still problem sims , including my house . I`ve become like a gargoyle at Trash Palace for the duration of this problem seeing as that`s a cool club , with none of the bad sim issues .

No luck for me too. It's been two weeks now and I still can't get into my own house. Getting really tired of this...

Same here, with 38,000+ residents online. One wonders if the Linden servers can handle the load ..... this is getting real irritating now, after two weeks.

My heart raced.......

But no -- same as some others -- after 2 lil hours of joy the user ping went back to 10000, at 19:45 dutch time (arh 10:45 SLT, coffee break over perhaps?). *runs SL in a very small window now*

Seeing a I woke up earlier then i shoulda for going to work , I tried logging in SL to humor myself to see if there is any improvement. Stunningly enough , I could stay in a problem sim ( i.e my house ) for a little over an hour before I had to go to work .
That was between 07:30 and 08:30 AM .
Tough I`m geussing like the other reports in the thread that its just a temporary state and i`m not geussing anybody fixed anything . It would be good if we could find a common set of hours where we experience this .

Logged on this morning at 8:30am and both pings are normal. I will post when it shoots back up to 10000. EDIT - 3 hours later and still holding. Longest ever in 2 weeks. Let's see.

Don't wanna be a partypooper, but there are about 20,000 residents online now. That's a little bit more than half the load the servers had to chew on last night (23:25 GMT), when everybody froze again after a couple of hours of relatively normal performance.

Sorry but I don't think that has anything to do with it. I've been monitoring it. Even when there were 30,000 plus online I had a stable connection for a few hours.
Just keeping my fingers crossed here, we have to have hope at least.

Just keeping my fingers crossed here, we have to have hope at least. That is true, and I am keeping my fingers crossed as well. Also, I'm watching jira, to see if there's 'official' news from the battlefield - haven't seen any so far, but it's 03:00 AM over there so they've all probably gone to bed.

Still going good here, that's 7 hours now. OMG, does this mean the problem MIGHT be fixed for IP range 82. users ?
Still crossing my fingers.

Message van Timo (XS4All)
05-02-2007 05:54
This is now standing in the newsgroup XS4All.General From: someone Afgelopen nacht heeft Linden hun routering richting XS4ALL aangepast, het zou goed kunnen dat dit tot gevolg heeft dat het nu beter gaat.

Timo
Meaning Linden have changed there routing to XS4All last night. Possible that its working now (Rough translation) Lets wait and see.

Then again about the guy who has no problems and has XS4ALL. He has a subscription of 79 euro a month but I'm gonna ask what kind of subscription and what ISP address he has. He tried out 3 bad sims (where I got stuck immediately and repeatedly) for me yesterday. He had no problems at all and I know its true because we kept in IM-touch all the time.
The friend who uses XS4ALL and has no problems uses an ISP address that starts with 213. Maybe its useful to know this, although I read that the problems are over???? Sure hope so!

using xs4all and no problems
05-02-2007 06:05
I mentioned before that I know somebody who is using xs4all and doesn't have problems with freezing/stuck in a bad sim. The ISP he is using is: 213. Maybe that helps to solve the problem? Or did LL that already for us now?

Problem is still going on today
05-02-2007 06:12
I tried out the sim Plush Nano, where I always get frozen. The 1st time I was walking, walking and walking without being able to stop. The 2nd time I was frozen over there. So the problem continues for me!
