Taken from Jira https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-124---------------------------------------------------------------------- Could not teleport to Imogen. Is it private? Got same trace as you: but the trace of Bredero differs, because he does not use the demon router. Is it possible that this router causes all our misery? Is any of the Demon technicians involved? ----------------------------------------------------------------------- This would make sense, Didn't all the problems start on 17th April, when XS4ALL bought out Demon?

(A)symmetric routing
04-30-2007 06:16
From: Vent Sinatra Jos, what is your IP number ?! I just tried and same problems as before My IP address is in the range 213.84.0.0/16 Xs4all told me that this is the only range that is routed symmetrically. So it routed back to Xs4all the same way as it is routed to SL. People using this range have been reporting that the problem is over for them. Xs4all has suggested to Linden to route all traffic from xs4all back symmetrically, that is back via Sprint. Last remark of Xs4all employee: if asymmetric routing is the cause of this problem, there is a severe flow in the client/server communication protocol of SL. Greetz, Jos

There might be light at the end of the tunnel:
The status of our issue SVC-124 has just been changed to "In progress" and has been assigned...

I really don't know what this means (in the context of IP-adressing and routing), but I have the feeling this information from Jos Young is very important.
It means there is a solution! If LL changes the routing back to symmetric there shouldn't be any problem. In the last 40 minuten the SVC-124 issue indeed changed to 'assigned'.
My IP-adress is in the range 82.92.0.0 (so a bad range with asymmetric routing i guess). Come on techies .... change that routing and let's forget this whole thing!

Is IP range the problem?
04-30-2007 14:14
My IP address is in the 82.95 range. I wonder if most here are in the same group? The 213 range is owned by KPN I was told.
If there problems are over, it must have something to do with it.
should we not all reveal at least the first 2 segments of our IP address to see if we can find a clue here?
Ill put part of my IP address in my info.
Freeman

Wouldn't you know it, my IP is also in the 82 range.. So what Jos said may very well be true. Now let's see how long it takes for someone to actually do something about it.

My IP is also in the 82.92 range but we sent Torley Linden our IP's about a week ago I believe. For those that did not see this posted over on the Jira site yesterday 30th April.. From: someone We're continuing to work with XS4ALL on this, I've asked for what further info we can share to keep you up-to-date (this is Torley Linden).

Yesterday morning I still had the known problems (haven't been in SL since then). Do we have really something here?

This same issue is killing the hell out of me. My ip begins with 209, and as far as I can tell, my provider has nothing to do with xs4all, being in Louisiana and all.
Hmmm...anyone else happen to be using Comcast and having problems?
Annoying as hell.

IP address and am changing from provider
05-01-2007 01:38
My IP address starts with 212. and I am from Demon (now also xs4all), so I dont know if nr 80 is the problem.
Then again about the guy who has no problems and has XS4ALL. He has a subscription of 79 euro a month but I'm gonna ask what kind of subscription and what ISP address he has. He tried out 3 bad sims (where I got stuck immediately and repeatedly) for me yesterday. He had no problems at all and I know its true because we kept in IM-touch all the time.
Just sent a fax to Demon that I am ending my subscription per 1 juni and took cable with another provider instead. I have 1 week to take that back if i want.

I think he has the same subscription that I have. ASDL Fast (20mb ASDL2). So I am afraid that is not connected, because I do have the problems and my IP number is within the mentioned range. Morwen.

Day 14 and counting....
05-01-2007 03:35
Yes people, day 14. One day you are on Secondlife and the next day you are off. a week after we rented hald a sim. Cant reach my home longer then 1 minute. Today 2 minutes with a sim ping of 244 msec, so i thought.... Well, never mind i crashed again of course. Today im going to find a wireless link with a neighbour. hopefully he does not have XS4ALL too.... I recommended it to him last year Trying to share internet with him so we both have a backup in this kind of troubles! By the looks of it, internet became so difficult to handle, even the techies at xs4all cant fix it anymore.... As said, day 14 and counting.... Sighs Lots of strength to you all boy and girls! Freeman ps any 'bets' on the fixdate? (Xmas? - 2007? - this month? - never?)

With other words, if he is in 213 range (internal XS4All network) he doesnt have any problem. So im hoping that Linden finally solve thit to route all our traffic symmetric. Because that is now the quickest fix.

Yesterday evening, I was able to move in my own house! OK, it was upwards through the roof and straight into oblivion, but hey. After two weeks of freezing on the spot it still was an exciting experience.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I am seriously beginning to wonder if this will ever get fixed.

Called demon for migration
05-01-2007 06:18
Hey All, My ip is in the range 82.161.*.*, sorry if that is disappointing . Hopefully not for long, because I said bye bye to demon and xs4all. Will keep you informed -- as long as they dont cut this thread (which is always a proven method to get rid a problem). As soon as Third Life is launched, I will start thinking of a Second Death

For all the people who say the problem is NOT caused by XS4all: you are wrong. I'm not saying XS4all itself causes the problem because it could be very well their way of routing to the SL servers which could be different from other ISPs.
I have both cable from Orange and dsl from XS4all. I have been experiencing the exact same problems as many of you here but not once did I think about switching to my cable isp cause XS4all simply rocks so I assumed they were not the problem. After reading this thread I tested using cable and as you can expect no problem whatsoever.
So on the same machine, cable works fine, the moment I switch to dsl SL goes nuts on a lot of (not every) sims I land on.
If I remember I can do a trace later on to see if theres a difference between the routing of both providers cause I really believe theres a machine somewhere in between messed up(doesnt have to be XS4all or Lindenlab themselves).
