Long story short, you can have SLCP open while you are working in Photoshop. Make sure to save your images as TGA and you can click the buttons in SLCP to apply them to the avatar and see what the images look like as clothing.

File not exist. It may have been deleted or the URL is incorrect.

Well I just checked and the files are all still there. All I can suggest is try downloading them again some other time (eg. now)

Basic Questions about SLCP
01-26-2008 10:29
To anyone who knows the answers, THANKS in advance for any answers you can provide to my questions below:

(1) How do I open/use SLCP?

[ I have a PC. I have Corel PhotoPaint 11 and Corel DRAW 11, and I have The GIMP. I dowloaded what appears to be a Mac version because some previous posts in this thread seem to indicate it will work for PC's too. I can see the avatar templates in my Corel PhotoPaint 11 Program, but I can not seem to open anything else. I tried to import the .b3d files into Corel PhotoPaint but that file type is not supported. Am I missing something really obvious? Do I need a 3D graphics program? I am a total noob to graphics programs, When I went to art school it was all pencils and paint! But I am determined to get over the steep learning curve.. :D]

(2) Where can I download the SLCP for a PC?

[ I went to SLDevelopers.com but I got "file not found" when I hit the Download button about 5 minutes ago (Around 1:15pm EST in the USofA) Also, some of the above posts seem to have what should be clickable links to download the SLCP but they ain't working on my computer right now. I can not find anysettings that fix that either so if you have a link to the download, please spell it out so I can copy it. ]

If anyone wants to help me out, you rock! Next time I see you in SL I promise I won't chuck a snowball at you.
Thanks!,
Dirk

Any chance on a version for linux?

Possibly. When I ported it to Mac, the code I wrote should compile without modification on Linux. So I would just need Linux to compile the program on. Although Linux is free, I'm not too keen on messing around with my harddrive setup to dual boot both Windows and Linux. However, I just learned of an option to boot to Linux from a USB drive, so if that works for me then the first thing I'll try is compiling SLCP on Linux.

- what license did you choose for your tool? gpl, lgpl, artistic, closed-source?

- what makes you think that partitioning and installing a win/linux dual-boot machine is in any way hard? find someone who lets you borrow the bootable partition magix CD, use that to shrink your existing windows partition so that you have like 20gb unpartitioned space on your harddisk (I'm assuming one large primary C: drive on the only harddisk in your system here). then head over to http://download.opensuse.org and grab a copy of the install media. pop the first cd in, and follow the instructions.

- any way you could pass me the slcp sources? i'll see if i get them into a nice package.

What does this question have to do with the subject of this sticky, or this forum for that matter?

At the top of the code I declare it LGPL.

The fact that I've never done it before. It's all a moot point anyway now that I know about the option to have Linux on a USB memory stick.

The source code is included in the download of the program. Note though that it's written in an obscure programming language called BlitzMax; unless you have BlitzMax (plus a couple of addon modules) you won't be able to compile the program. I mention all this in the first post of this thread.

Hi, I downloaded the previewer, unzipped and everything, went to open it and it crashes on itself. ?___? It opens, loads, and crashes all in a matter of 2 seconds.

Is there anything I could be doing wrong?

I even tried to download your old version, but it is no longer available in the links I have found. :\

Thank you for all your time!

texture backwards?
03-07-2008 07:03
I can't figure out how to get it to show right. The front is on the back and the back on the front. i have paid many times to upload textures and i know they come out on the right sides in sl, but in your viewer they don't. Your program would be great at saving money on uploading textures to make sure they look right. Main problem is trying to make shorts, i can't get the bottem lines to go right. I would realy like to be able to use your viewer, but it can't help me if it is on backards. I tried flipping it but then things don't line up at all anywhere. what can i do to fix it? p.s. shirts work great on it thought.

Are you using GIMP? Someone mentioned something before about a checkbox to flip the texture when saving TGA; maybe that's the problem you are experiencing.

To make a clothing item to sell or whatever, first you make a new jacket using the Create menu in Inventory. Now wear the new item and edit your appearance.

Is it too late to ask people to add my store to their picks? heh, 20 pages in and this just occurred to me...

Is anyone using SLCP with Vista? I had to get a new machine, and SLCP isn't working. I'm having serious stress... I can't imagine working without it! Help?

Alpha not working right
03-12-2008 21:57
Hmmmm... I downloaded a new copy of SCLP tonight (the .win version) and it works fine ..... except that it doesn't seem to recognize my alpha channel.

Also, it's odd that the selection buttons are labelled as if they expect you to use JPG files, when in fact you need to use TGA. Doesn't make any difference, but it's aesthetically confusing.

BTW, I'm using XP, not Vista.

Yea, I've been using it just fine til I tried using it with Vista. I assume Vista is the problem.

Actually, I am using Vista and It works for me. I am not sure I am using the current version though. Of course, I have aero, uAC and most of the other garbage fosted on to it off so that might have an affect.

Bah. I'm hoping it's not my video card, but I can't make heads or tails over which ones can run stuff and which can't. (I have an NVidia GeForce Go 7150M.)

Well, I'm running XP with an NVidia GeForce 8500. The new SLCP previewer loads OK, and I can rotate and move the avatar. My only problem is that the previewer doesn't recognize my alpha channel, so I can't see how well things are working at the edges of my outfits, where things are supposed to go transparent. I was using the Beta version before, and it kept crashing so I upgraded.
