Hi John,
First of all, what a great tool you've created, well done.
Secondly, I've just found out that the update was available, so I followed the link and downloaded the zip file. Then when I doubled clicked the program icon, a window popped up and dissappeared so fast that I couldn't see what it was? I'm a bit of a 'dummy' when it comes to programmes... Is it something that I'm doing wrong?

The window disappeared with no error message? Geez, I have no idea, I'll have to think on this one.

Hi John, That's correct, it flashes for a tenth of a second and then it's gone. I have un-zipped all the files in the folder so I haven't a clue what's going on either...

That's a pretty cool tool thanks for it. Absolutely perfect it would be if i would be able to paint it directly on the layers with seeing where i paint *haha* but to watch it without SL and uploadpreview is a really great thing. Thank you for that prog

Woohooo! Finally got it working on a new system (wouldn't work on old one). This is fabulous (and funny watching the little puppet tumble around)! Thank you Johan!

. Johan Durant ... i will join the accolades with my little voice praising your texture Preview Tool and you, for your contributions making SL easier to work with and luckily there are others like you, in all fields on SL who do so much ... like Chip Midnight, who with his detailed templates, makes clothing creations easier and faster. the reason why i mention Chip, is due to the fact your viewing model is layered with Chip's Templates which really takes out most of the guesswork and speculation of wondering if lines, seams and patterns are properly connected, on the model. because with the SLCP you can clearly see pretty much how your final work will look once its uploaded to your Avatar. *also, i rely on SLCP to check my work, from different angles and close up.* the wonderful thing about SLCP, it saves time by not having to frequently go online checking and verifying the work in progress ... putting Chip's Templates to your model was inspirational to say the least. so just in case some may not have Chip's url for his Templates, here it is ... ... http://goodies.onrez.com/shop/chipmidnight/ ... but like others who have mousey problems, my wheely microsoft mouse is also awkward and annoying to work with ... ive looked over the bmx file, and just for fun tried to alter some codes, to make the program operational from the Keyboard ... but imma dummy when it comes to coding ... my thought is, is it possible to include a second and "optional dmx file" that one can use if they prefer, that is coded for the keyboard for the down, X, Y, dx, dy, zoom, pivot variables? either way ... great job creating this tool! ................................................. i just thought id mention it ... the blaxxun viewer to view avatars for the all but non-existant blaxxun community, works simply and effectively, with both mouse and keyboard controls .

Can you be more specific about what keyboard controls you would want? Where can I get this Blaxxun viewer?
Note that you don't need to use the middle mouse button if that is difficult for you; you can hold Shift or Ctrl while using the left button to get the same controls.

From: Johan Durant Can you be more specific about what keyboard controls you would want? Where can I get this Blaxxun viewer? If I remember right Blaxxun viewer was 3d browser that lot of content creators made 3d websites and mini-worlds for Cybertown. When I used it was free and so was Cybertown. The link to Blaxxun 3d viewer is here but it cost 118.00. Not sure if this is same product but there should be others listed. http://www.blaxxun.com/home/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=40&Itemid=89Thanks for your effort thought about downloading your viewer but I use a older computer with 2553mhz pentinum 4, 768 ram and geoforce nvidia 6300 card I am not sure if it would be compatible. Also at this point all I can do is those inferior png files because after year of trying to do tga alpha's and failing regardless of reading and re-reading and re doing steps I hit major tga alpha wall. I am still learning how to paint on templates. Did you say there was guide with your viewer?

Man, I guess I need to work harder at being a nerd, because it keeps surprising me what people consider to be an old computer. Those system specs should be fine, the computer I developed it on is only slightly better than that.
Guide to what?

Guide to what? Guide aka instructor to use your viewer. I said it was older because its over 3 years old. It seems like lot of people buy new computer with tons of memory, etc every year so its older.. I am lucky if I can do it every 5 years.

If you don't like sourceforge, why not use Google Code http://code.google.com/hosting/ , http://code.google.com/hosting/createProject - they'll host binaries for you

Awesome program here.
I just got started in SL, and I read in a tutorial somewhere to uncheck the "Origin at bottom left" option when saving targa files in The Gimp. I've just tested a few textures both with and without the option set in-world, and both seem to work so this is probably an outdated requirement, but SLCP obviously isn't honoring this flag and I get mangled/reversed textures.
It's a fairly minor pain to just re-export all of my textures, but I figured I'd give a heads up in case other people are running into the same problem, or you want to fix SLCP to honor that flag.

Interesting. I may or may not get around to fixing that if there is such a simple way to avoid the problem, but I'll still want to see for myself. Can you post one of the problem images, both before and after the checkbox?

sure thing, here's my "original" T-shirt without the origin flag set, which will appear to be flipped horizontally in SLCP http://www.dragon.org/morat/board/fudd_shirt.tgaand the fixed texture, with bottom-left origin http://www.dragon.org/morat/board/newfudd.tgaTo be clear, the bottom-left origin option *IS* the default when saving TGA files in The Gimp (recent versions, at least) so this will probably only be a problem for people who followed the same tutorial I did, and SL doesn't seem to care either way. Probably not worth your time fixing it unless other people start posting "hey, why's my stuff upside down?"

11-02-2007 02:37
Hi
I wanted to download the sl clothes previewer but when I copy/pasted the url it didn't take me to the site...is it having problems? I quadruple checked that I copied correctly so I know it's not the incorrect URL. Many thanks!

Hm, perhaps the server was just down for a bit last night; I just downloaded both the windows and mac versions just fine, so try downloading now.
ambre, perhaps you need to update your videocard drivers or something. That specific error is generally a problem with OpenGL itself.

Noob here...
11-04-2007 16:01
I just signed up yesterday and was thinking I'd like to have my avatar wear a few of the t-shirts I design on Cafepress, so you program could be just what I need. Unfortunately, I'm also having the problem where it comes up for a fraction of a second then disappears.
I'm running XP SP2 on an Intel motherboard with 946GZ graphics set to use 256M of the 1G on the system. The video drivers are 100% up to date - I updated them yesterday as part of my effort to get SL to not crash a minute into running. I have .NET frameworks 1.1, 2.0, and 3.0 installed. SL seems to run fine.
Any clues?

No idea. When the problem is the videocard or something there's normally an error message when it fails; this is very weird to me. Has anyone experienced this on a platform other than XP with SP2?
ADDITION: Oh wait it just occurred to me that the "unable to create 3D scene" error message might only be SLCP 1, I don't know if SLCP 2 has that too. I wonder if Ambre on the last page was using SLCP 1 or 2 so that I can be sure.
TANGENT: Is SLCP on the SL Wiki? Should I make a page for it?
