Guess I mis-understood what you were meaning as privacy controls... I would have classed that as security with a bit of privacy thrown into the mix.

Yeah, a little bit of bad wording on my part. I see privacy and security controls as tightly related and just call it privacy.
Anyway, yes... that would work, and work well... as well as removing all but one need for the scripts.
Since there have been times we've had to 'port in a customer at very short notice, so having it on friends list only wouldn't work that well for us... but if there was a very quick and easy way to add them to the allow list... /me hints to LL about this...

I'd also add things like automatic no build/no script for those who are banned (whether that be those on the banned list or those not on the access list). As well as auto-return for those who are banned.
I didn't think through all the possible things LL could do, though. I think LL needs to look at the griefing that happens, how it happens, why it happens, etc... And then implement the better anti-griefing tools.
But why we'd still need scripts is for the poor sods who rent... they've got no land tools to protect themselves with, so I can see the scripts still being used... (responsibly, for preference)
Another good point. Better tools for land renters to give tenants their own privacy/security controls.
As for the insta-eject scripts, I'll concede that in situations like yours that the script could be appropriate. I'd like to ask some questions and get your opinion.
What would insta-eject do that a delay doesn't? It keeps avatars away. So, they can't make offensive gestures and what not in front of you that they could do during the delay. That's certainly a benefit to the land owner. Stop people from rezzing objects while on your land, but...
Isn't it true that an insta-eject script does little to nothing to stop greifers from shooting up your place? Can't they just do it from an adjacent property or out of range?
Same question for rezzing objects. Can't they just do it from an adjacent property or from above and drop the objects down?
I asking because I'm thinking that the insta-eject scripts may be OK while the person is on-line, and definately OK while they're in the process of being griefed, but too much if the person isn't online.
