For me, SL is not just a game. I use it for business purposes. When the grid has significant downtime, me and my staff can't get our work done, which means that the newspaper will be late.

This can cause problems for advertisers who are promoting an event. What if the event is the day the paper normally comes out, and a grid attack has postponed publication? The advertiser is short changed.

And while some SL businesses who advertise with us may be understanding, the real world businesses who take out ads in the M2 may not be so inclined.

Linden Lab and law enforcement agencies may be limited in what they can do to this jerk, but the possibility of a law suit is very real.
Those business owners interested in such action -- let's chat.

I agree fully. People need to realize you CAN NOT just generalize SL as a "game". I have a very simple way to get this point across. Is the internet a game? Are cellphones games? Are DVD players games? Just because something can have a game ON it, doesnt mean IT is a game. Period. You can play games on SL, just the same as you can play games on the internet. You can do business on SL the same as online, you can talk to friends and family, or communicate with other employees online and on SL. Point is, no, SL is NOT just a game, and saying it is does nothing but make you appear very immature and unable to grasp what SL is. SL is a service, not a game people.

Adapting business purposes to a game that initially does not support them is your own fault if you think that an online game will not have issues from time to time. Even real life newspapers often postpone, delay or cut events or stories they were going to release; get over it. If your "real world businesses" cannot understand that an ONLINE GAME will have connection issues, then take your "business" elsewhere.

This guy just spawned a bunch of prims everywhere? God damn, I want to know. Besides just the pleasure of bringing the grid down, what does this give you besides more time you can't get on cause of your ignorance? It's just a waste of time to try and we all know that 3 hours later the guy will be opening his moms front door to the police. So whats the point when LL has enough info to pinpoint you without a second thought.

Louis Neutra, Orion Waves, and Huns Valen all seem to be on a similar theme here, FUDing up this issue. I wonder exactly what side these [edit: griefers] are on.

That's a really weak reply.

He's right, anyways. Who in their right mind would attempt to put their high-powered intartnet 2.0 ePodCast global megabusiness inside of a game where two sims away from your house, groups of people are having sex with interactive genitals or erecting huge statues of dongs that launch firey screaming missiles?

Excuse me, but before you throw me into some stereotype party, might want to figure out what I said first. My point was SL is not a game, and things like this DO matter to a variety of people, and usually the people who pass it off as "whatever" "get a life" "go outside" are usually immature fools who cant wrap their heads around what SL is, and still try to argue a point they dont even understand. I didnt FUD up any issue, but you did a good job of jumping my ass for no reason. :)

I would!

Imagine: a meeting gets boring, and you just say "okay, five minute break to check out the dongs".

Very nice, clumping me into the "griefer" category without actually, you know, knowing what you're talking about. Do you hate America?

That is entirely beside the point. You can find porn and you can find your banks website on the internet. Once again, not grasping the point. You sound like businesses back when the internet was new, thinking it was "crazy" and you couldnt make money from it...

I'm annoyed that I can't get in, but this is not something that raises my blood pressure.

For the record, I usually post "go outside" when the grid is down for scheduled maintenance. And to be honest I think going outside would do some people in SL a world of good. Not pointing any fingers there, I'm just saying.

Places like this exist in SL? I'd better get that Orbital Diaphragm over my land ASAP. :D

No, it's a lot different when everything can blend together really easy, instead of having entirely separate cells like sites. SL has everything jumbled and clumped together. But really, in any event, don't you think it'd be a wise move to take your business to something else if this is proving unstable?

YOU'RE like the people that build their houses next to a river that floods every single year, then re-build it all after it gets demolished time and time again. But hey if you guys want to take some dong-breaks I got plenty of that :D

Or an alternative: not curse LL or threaten 'lawsuit!' when things like this happen. Sitting back and maybe devising a back up plan for when things like this happen may be in the interest to a few people here.

Here, I can tell you LL's response to this problem: "Sit tight, we're working on it."

Actually, there's still a select few of us (like me) still in the game. It's quite amusing since most of the sims around us are gone.

While I agree with you, I dont agree that just because people are aggrivated that a service is down again, indicates they have no life. And just because you have nothing worth while on SL to "raise your blood pressure" if you cant access it, others might.
