getting about 200-300 objects a second in Perry right now owned by "Horatio Havercamp".

Turn off create/scripts, if you can.

When we get back in..lets ALL keep no build on by default...if the majority of users had done this, the situation would probably be alot easier.

That's rough....grid going down in the height of a sunday afternoon seriously curtails my fun. Anyway, this is getting to be a real hassle. I'm going to go take some Percocet and forget about it.

No build, and no outside scripts. I'm doing that to my little 512sq meter plot of land as soon as I go back in.

Everyone must do it! Everyone...must...do...ittttttttt.

Maybe now they will implement an automated watchdog system to clamp down on this shit. I hope they're spending some development effort on some kind of solution, whatever it might be.

Might help, but that's a bandaid. and it is a realy pain when it comes to running a spot where you rent out vendor spaces.

Another day another grid crash
04-30-2006 13:53
I think we should all vote to change the name from Second Life to Second Day... an optimistic hope for two days in a row without a grid crash...

This makes twice in less than 48 hours (Friday night to Sunday afternoon). If this happens again next weekend I just won't bother to log in on weekends anymore and play NWN, Sims, or some other -offline- game. I've had it with jerkwad asshats spoiling everyone's enjoyment of SL.

You know what to do with it......

The problem is that's what they want. The best you can do is just play it off.

Well, maybe it's fortuitous. I need to build the new website for the SL International Spaceflight Museum anyway. If anyone is interested, bookmark http://SLISpaceflightMuseum.org but excuse our dust as we try to decide just what to do with it.

In the meantime, you can see some of our stuff by going to our temporary office and click the white rotating sign for a landmark notecard, then select the one that says something about "rocket warehouse" (I think -- don't remember for sure, and can't log in to check it -- doh!) Our island at Spaceport Alpha will be opening in a month or so when we get everything ready.

I know that is what they want. The point is if I can't do the work I need to do on weekends as well as during the week then there is no point in me even logging in just on weekends. If I'm going to have to sit around and wait for LL to get the grid cleaned up every weekend why not spend that time doing something other than posting to the forums?

What vitrual pretend life? I'm in SL because I love to build. SL is not my social life. I have RL for that. Don't put words into my mouth. I didn't say I was never going to log in again. See my post above. I would still be logging in during the week.

For me, SL is not just a game. I use it for business purposes. When the grid has significant downtime, me and my staff can't get our work done, which means that the newspaper will be late.

This can cause problems for advertisers who are promoting an event. What if the event is the day the paper normally comes out, and a grid attack has postponed publication? The advertiser is short changed.

And while some SL businesses who advertise with us may be understanding, the real world businesses who take out ads in the M2 may not be so inclined.

Linden Lab and law enforcement agencies may be limited in what they can do to this jerk, but the possibility of a law suit is very real.
Those business owners interested in such action -- let's chat.
