True... but not always practical. There's no simple answer to this issue... ![]() Having said that though Tiger, if it's just a question of people not wanting people in their house or private area when they're not home, I would much prefer they used a security device set to cover just that area, than shut off access all together with the land tools. I'm not interested in entering anyone's home uninvited, so it wouldn't be much of an issue... I hate those damn lines you can see even when you're not on their property, and I'm just passing by... And yes, autoreturn isn't always practical, I have it off on my land so my partner can also use it. _____________________

Oh, and thanks for reminding me of this little gem... "ANYTHING that forcibly pushes you without your consent is greifing." That very nicely classes Alex as a griefer for forcibly pushing someone (orbiting them) without their consent... Yes, that means that as many as a whopping 20.75(!! zomg) percent of those polled might view me as a griefer. Bear in mind it MAY be still less than that, maybe significantly less, as I only orbit people in response to being attacked by them, which attack might constitute consent in the minds of many. Whereas, of course, a security system merely attacks preemptively. 51.5 percent of those polled definitely have at least some problem with that. ![]() |

You are clueless! Most of my flights are local training flights which do not require or need flight plans by any defination. If you have ever filed a flight plan you would understand what a pain in the ass it can be. Ah why didnt you go after the griefer the old fasion way? I like to freeze them. Talk to them for a little while and then eject them. It is sort of like kicking themin football I dont thing Lewis would argue with you about the right to get griefers. I dont and it takes more than a security orb to deal with the jerks. Nice residents like me are different. I have never been ejected from a club yet! Good luck!Pain in the ass or not THE RULES ARE RULES!! Yah know its funny since its a pain for you to have to do it you find a way around it, and claim its cause its a pain in the ass! Well lets see if you can have your cake and eat it too.........NOPE! To answer your question the security personnel dont have land control just the ability to bounce your ass with a SECURITY ORB. omg the evil security script, but it uses the land tool also tp home. See as much fun as it is to torture the griefers, in a sense you stoop their level by making fun of them and abusing them, but I guess that is ok since they started it right? |

I encourage the use of target mode over alarm mode in dealing with griefers. My idea Second Life would give me the tools to avoid all security orbs and closed land. In that way I could have a happy flight. Did a FS9 flight with my new equipment and it is too cool. If I could import my avatar into that would kiss SL goodbye. The trouble of flying in second life does not end with security orbs and closed land but only begins. The SL platform for flying stinks and in fact is the worse even encountered. That would have not been able to stop this... /108/d3/121263/1.html Please understand that by insisting that people should use target instead of alarm, you are insisting that they leave themselves open to that kind of griefing, since only alarm mode would have prevented that. |

The best thing one can do is to set the land to group and then if you want visitors add them to the list. Oh probally using the new ability to keep out those with no payment history would of kept this from occuring. |

The best thing one can do is to set the land to group and then if you want visitors add them to the list. Oh, almost forgot, you can still carry out that kind of griefing even with it set to group only, since the ban lines only reach 50M and you can rez then move the prims into the land... Oh probally using the new ability to keep out those with no payment history would of kept this from occuring. Ahem... not only is that discriminating against many for the actions of a few, but it's also a load of bull... The ban lines only reach 50M... a determined griefer, and whoever did this was determined, can easily get around that little bit of protection. To sum it up, group only wouldn't have stopped this. Verified only wouldn't have stopped this. Using the ban list certainly wouldn't have stopped this. Orbs in target mode wouldn't have stopped this... When it comes down to it, only an orb set to alarm mode would have been able to prevent this, if it could have been prevented at all... everything else is just reactive and won't do the job properly. :edit: we mustn't forget that there were griefers before LL removed the verification requirement... |

The shop always loves a good laugh. One last time, I support the right for people to use security orbs provided they give enough warning to get off the land. I encourage the use of target mode over alarm mode in dealing with griefers. My idea Second Life would give me the tools to avoid all security orbs and closed land. Oh don’t lump me in with friend Lewis, we share a lot of common positions but not all. *bumper* Oh if it weren't hypocrisy, I'd not have so many laughs in life! *sticker* So YOU can fly over their houses, while they are in them, and give you enough time to pass through without being impaired regardless of what they are doing in their house. Are you really that selfish to deny others that want privacy? You want to be able to skirt whatever you want, to do whatever you want and think SL should bow to it. Well, even if YOU wouldn't do something wrong (and chances are you are in someone's eyes or another, I certainly don't want planes over my house, especially ones scripted with sound) what YOU want to do, opens the door for others to do stupid things. You are sitting here telling us you want the tools to have full exemption from anyone else's privacy wants, needs, etc. and THAT'S why you hate orbs. You just hate anything if it isn't what YOU want to do. I know, as I said, I've seen your previous posts. Especially ones, where you hop tons of land, beg for land to be open, buy it, sell it and then complain about griefers who paid for their land just like you and expect something out of it. Hundreds of people can sit here and tell you all their experiences with griefers on their open land, why they closed it off, even in the most heinous of SL, and you still wouldn't care, because it's not what YOU want. Are you really that selfish, that you should have to have your happiness before countless others? (Oh, and thanks for keeping to reply even after you say you aren't going to! ) |

Take it up with Lewis... and while you're at it, take it up with LL, since non-consensual pushing is griefing by their rules. And no, pushing someone doesn't equal giving consent... especially since "two wrongs don't make a right." It's not two wrongs. I don't do it out of revenge, to "get back at them." I do it reluctantly in order to remove the attacker so that I and others are no longer under a sustained assault. You would probably be surprised at how restrained I am. And needless to say, I can count on one hand the number of times I've used my orbiter seriously (as opposed to consensual playing with a friend). As far as it goes, LL apparently agrees with me since, at the very least, Mistress had occasion to orbit a griefer who attacked the club we were dancing in and then reported both the attack and Her response. (A lot of others reported the griefer as well, since it was an attack on a crowd.) The griefer shortly disappeared and didn't come back. No action whatsoever was taken against Mistress. Only if they don't give a warning and a delay... do not twist the facts to make them say what they don't. Most do. Some do not, and yes, I've personally experienced the latter. The ones that give a delay often give a very SHORT delay -- get snagged on an obstacle or happen to commit the crime of having a slow system that bogs down loading stuff sometimes, and you might get hit. That's not exactly kosher in my book, at least. 70% say there is NO problem as long as they are used properly... only 20% have a problem with them at all, and ONLY if they use push... If they don't use push, if they're used properly...? I doubt it's be that many... There was no poll asking how people felt about being teleported home. Don't speculate. And as far as it goes, I'm among the 70 percent. I believe there are responsible applications of security systems, just as I believe there are responsible applications of orbiters. My issue is that too many seem to feel that security-orb owners don't need to be held responsible for how they use their devices. I believe that users of any attack device -- whether personal orbiters, guns, or security orbs -- need to be held responsible for how they use them. Simply put, there is a right (responsible) way, and there is a wrong way. Yes, I know LL currently gives griefing with security orbs a free pass, but we're talking here about what ought to be, not what is. |

I dont really care how much you know about the USAF, maybe just maybe the NCO in question is a E-7 or E-8 that likes it when people assume they are completely informed on a subject. BTW if you know so much you would know her husband was studying to become a pilot meaning HE is a officer in the USAF. Only the army allows non-Officer pilots, before you balk at that CWO in the army are heli-pilots. |

Just drop the personal attacks because you got pwnd! I applaud anybody in any branch of the Military! Really? I'm former Air Force, and I don't. I find it slightly annoying when people thank me for my service (although since I generally avoid mentioning it, they normally don't). If you want to thank someone, thank someone who did something that really helped humanity. Military service does not, in my opinion, qualify, but there are things that do (and tend to be ignored, sadly). |

Well Ranma, you can tell if you were, you are Army then. Women in the army have ZERO tough jobs. I know, my ex-husband was Army. (Stationed out of Fort Benning.) When I considered enlisting, no challenging jobs were available. Also, Army accepts ANYONE. Their standards of enlistment are quite lower than the other 4 branches. (Which might explain you!) It's the only branch that has open call for GED grads. The other 4, unless in dire need of one specific field NEVER have open enrollment for GED per year. The total enlistment of GED grads for Air Force is below 1% (and even then, only in special circumstance), whereas the Army is 10%+ (even before Iraq).
And it shows your intelligence when I never once said I served, NOR did I say MY NCO. I happen to live next door to an NCO (who is our cluster lead if you MUST know) and said THE NCO would laugh. Simply because she and I, yes I said SHE, have discussed people who have ZERO knowledge on subjects and tend to boast about what they THINK they know. Secondly, no one I know in ANY branch of the military, except the Marines, ever "take it in stride" to be insulted whether meant in good jest or not. In fact, from what I gather between my grandfather (retired US Navy, 22yr), my father (Army, 8yr), ex-husband (at the time 4 year) and my husband (AF 5yr), most of the branches think the others are idiots anyways. However, I will tell you straight up on one thing, that I have refrained from for making you feel embarassed. You have already claimed to own your own plane, which judging by your antics, I doubt, but VFR is the LOWEST license you can have. You are absolutely lying when you say you are giving training classes, the lowest you can have is IFR. Actually, I think you might need more than that, but I know for a fact VFR's CANNOT give training lessons LEGALLY. But if you have the money for your own plane, then why not buy a sim and fly around til the cows come home? And lastly, you were not in the service. You showed it simply. (Or else you are in ignorance of military procedures.) You said he may not be an officer then referred to cadets. 99% of ANYONE in the military can tell you cadets CANNOT be married, or have children (whether they are divorced, have custody or not) NOR live in base housing. This is for ALL branches. So either you are lying completely and have no idea what you are talking about or probably served for a few weeks before giving up. Anyone found to have lied about those situations can be punished through the UCMJ. And also, not everyone feels cadets are the lowest on the pole. They can't even leave the base grounds for the first year, second only in uniform and escorted, they can't have cars til their third year and have escorts with a strict curfew, there is so much about them you don't even know. (Since obviously you didn't even know the basics.) But then again, now you are saying you are CURRENT military, which is interesting, because you insult both sides. Alex, you said you were former Air Force, can I ask you what your code was and time of service? Not that I don't believe you, but more so because certain sides of the Air Force are less satisfying than others and was curious where your standpoint came from. Humanitarian Aid for one is satisfying, along with quite a few other jobs in all branches. Military isn't out and out shoot em up and leave them dead. Considering the hours though, no the pay isn't worth it til you have some time in and can move over to WO, or O. And lastly for laughs, back to Ranma - You are probally a Airman First Class or lower perhaps. You crack me up, being a warrier for the United States and being worried about what another does to an electronic database. Oh I love my job It is the one thing in life that I treaure most, defending my country, HOOAH!!! That was hypocrisy at it's greatest, since all you ever do is complain at griefers and not being able to do what you want (like fly right into people's houses) then claim you are military. Oh and if you must know, my husband made SSG before crossing over. And Air Force is the hardest to rank and especially from SRA to SSG. He was promoted BTZ. Army, I know of some men and women who were SPC's with only 2 year's in, and the board was extremely easy. And one more thing before I go, and before I forget, Marines don't say Hu-ah, they say hooRah, or ooRah. And ALL branches of the military have used it and no one knows WHERE it came from. Some say a Vietnamese word for yes, which is something like u-ra and there are also legends from WWII from the ARMY. Hell, some legends go back to the Civil War. (Oh and yet again, please keep responding even though you said you were gonna quit! Daily laugh meter has been exceeded, I will tune in tomorrow for your fun! And I love how, now that I have said I laughed at you, you said my lines about laughing at me, Originality FTW! lolzcopter!)As for Fort Rucker, my dad was there for a bit before being sent to Bosnia. He worked on Apache Longbows, then got moved to Riley. ETA: Sorry for the novel, typing 125 wpm to two people, tends to make one make a full statement rather than fragments and a bunch of smileys! Didn't even notice the length til post! |

Oh and even though you aren't giving any details cause you don't want to, I will glady post some of my info because I am easily able to have proof of military and flight info, whereas, you are lacking.
It's not straight out of Lackland, he started at Lackland, but was sent off to Keesler, then to RAFB, and now currently somewhere in the West (no I won't tell you that one, you seem the stalker type). ETA: fixed silly html bracket. |

Alex, you said you were former Air Force, can I ask you what your code was and time of service? God, I've already half-forgotten how this stuff is listed, but ... AFSC 3N051. Public affairs newspaper staff. Actually, I loved my job. My concern has far more to do with conclusions I've come to regarding our nation's history and present course via independent research than anything to do with my experiences while I served. Oh, TIS was four years, and yes, I was in when 9/11 hit. Military isn't out and out shoot em up and leave them dead. I shot them and left them alive and unhurt, actually. Considering the hours though, no the pay isn't worth it til you have some time in and can move over to WO, or O. The pay was fine. Not the problem. ![]() |

If her supervisor is a Master Sergant or Senior Master Sergant it makes no difference to me. I admit to like making fun of the USAF but it is all in the proper spirt, Laugh. Hmmm what do you know of those that have graduated from Fort Rucker? It is located right outside of Enterprise Alabama. It is a lot like your name tag and you would perhaps like it there HOOAH! I could care less if her husband is an Officer in the USAF, hooah? Also he is still studying? Hmmm he might not even be a officer yet. Cadets are lower then anything in the military structure. What is wrong with flying Helicopters? You make me laugh as much as she did Hooah!!! I love to fly!!! HOOAH!!!!!God you make me ill with your stupidity and assumptions. I am hoping your not refering to me on the fort rucker comment? As for cadets being lower in the miltary structure as responed to above you are wrong! I did my time dealing with cadets at Fort Lewis WA. during summer camp training for them. Insult a cadet and it will comeback to bite you in the ass. My best friend at the time made a joke about a cadets name and the very next yr guess who was in charge of him that cadet that had just graduated and commisioned. He paid for the simple joke for months, before approaching the officer and made amends. Yes technically that was abuse of power but it happens the Officer didnt really do anything quite over the line but just enough to make his life hell. I never said anything was wrong with flying helicopters. See just another ploy to make yourself appear intelligent. Now I am done with you and your ignorance..why dont you go and fly your plane instead of proving yourself to be a utter and total bean head! I stand corrected Seola you are right I got the variation mixed up with the army. As for the Army being the worst branch of service, well if it wasnt for the Army Air Corp the Air Force wouldnt exisist. But you are allowed your opinion but plz refrain from implyin all Army personel are total morons. I take offense to that. No you didnt outright call Army people morons but you did imply it. Oh yea the pay was good, considering the military paid all my badic bills, ex.. utility, food, medical, and dental plus they paid me for vacation. Edited to add somethings I missed.. |
