From: FlipperPA Peregrine It seems you missed a lot, even though you were at the meeting last night. They said what they were going to do in the short, medium and long term. Re-read the transcript (when its posted) and you'll see. Read: WHEN ITS POSTED - Torley normally will post it the day after, and yes, I do remember you were late. Thus my allusion to the transcript.

I think AWAY needs revamped. it should tell anyone who IMs you that you are away. If they don't know they keep IMing you complaining about being ignored.
NO NOT DISTURB is a good idea too. if we had that then AWAY would be ok how it is.
The Email Inbox idea i love. I played many MMORPG's and some of them used that system. Starwars Galaxies had a little email box people could drop little messages to you in. Also Everquest Online Adventures for Playstation 2 had it.

Alas, I don't--in the middle of the meeting, I--and not just me, apparently this happened to several avatars present--froze several times and it blanked out my SL, making me have to restart SL... and I couldn't get a transcript. I'm sorry. If anyone has a full transcript, please send it to me (torley@lindenlab.com) and I'll post it up ASAP.

From: Torley Linden I wish I had a transcript! Alas, I don't. NoooOOooooo! Drat... I was very much looking forward to reading it! Someone somewhere has to have a Log-Bot that can attend meetings and rpc out the proceedings to some web page yes?

From: Torley Linden OKEYDOKE GOOD NEWS
Yay! Thanks Torley! Just some immediate responses to the text: The problem of green dots and newbies not finding people: Is it better for a newbie to first meet someone who rudely tells them to get lost? Dwell income is going away and with it the bribe for being nice to random drop-ins. How dramatic a culture shift that may cause? Who knows... but first impressions are important, and we should want to make it easier for Newbies to find people that have are in some sort of "Friendly mode" instead. A centralized INBOX folder for all incoming notecards/objects/etc? Great idea! Thanks to whoever came up with it! I'm *very* glad that privacy controls are getting attention from folks at LL! Being in SecondLife is like being telepathically connected to everyone you know, from the moment you wake up, until you strap on your tin-foil cap and go to sleep. While bringing people together is fantastic... but if there's no way for us to find their own "comfort distance" it can feel somewhat mobbed! We need space... we have physical space, just no social space apart from each other. There's no way to tell, politely, whether someone is receptive to company/contact or not.... and I think many of us have ended up like neighbors that never talk anymore, we see each other rushing by or out there all the time... but it's never a "good time" to catch up. Even something as simple as being able to set an auto-reply message when someone opens an IM window to us, before we know that they're trying to contact us would be fantastic. -- For some of us are suffering cabin fever... Others, they're still out there looking for the cabin.

Haven't read the transcript yet (if ever , but in general, I don't think people are nice because of dwell -- I just think that, in general, people are really warm and helpful in SL, wherever I meet them, so I don't think this will change. That being said, having a "Friendly mode" would be a good addition, from everything I've heard said about it. And an INBOX? OMFG! Yes, we need that *now*!!!!

Great idea - wish I had spare votes! :-/ I've bookmarked it - I'll apply my votes to it after something my votes are on already passes.

Can anybody comment on or clarify LL's intentions with regard to the the removal of friend mapping? It sounds like they intend to remove this feature altogether. I think that most people were hoping they would make this an optional per-friend setting, similar to granting mod-rights. Are they really planning to remove it entirely?
I just downloaded the pod-cast of the meeting. Perhaps that will help clarify.

I wouldnt remove it entirely even though i dont like when people use it to Tp to me. Some people just use it to check up on friends without TPing. To me i think thats ok.
