Count your blessings, when I found someone building on top of my store in Inari, and using up over 500 prims, it went like this (this is paraphrased, not a chat log overactive Resmods):

Cristiano: "Hi there, may I help you with something?"
Freak: "No I'm good"
Cristiano: "May I ask why you are building on top of my store?"
Freak: "Fuck off, asshole"

At this point I eject him and return all his crap. He comes back due to the wonderful land tools we have and immediately starts shooting me. The conversation proceeds in IM:

Freak: "What's wrong with you asshole? Your attitude sucks"
Cristiano: "Oh yeah, clearly, it is my attitude. I ask why you are building on my land and you start swearing at me?"
Freak: "Fuck you n*****"
Cristiano: "Thanks for the slur, but try sp** it will work better. There are some others, take your pick, just pick the right one and also spell it correctly you loser"
Freak: "It's all the same, your all monkeys and your ruining this country for white people"
Freak: "Your profile says you live in Florida. Me too. Where you at in Miami Beach I want to come settle this in person"
Cristiano: "Your probation officer probably won't let you leave the county"
Freak: "Suck my dick"
Cristiano: "I am sure you can find plenty of other people to do that in Miami Beach, but you're not my type. Adios cabron * puts on mute *

I'm not sure, was I pwned?

Omg serously LOL! I think you won that one Cristiano. :D

(sigh) It's depressing that I find Cristiano's anecdote absolutely and completely plausible.

Maybe I should/shouldn't tell about the time a guy built an 'office' attached to Dwellget in Taco and became proprietor of the store for a weekend. Twice. He even started "helping" customers and made a group claiming to be a Dwellget official.

Not that we knew who the hell this guy was, or anything. That'd make far too much logical sense.

We had something like that happen once at the Aerodrome.

Well, if it was done good naturedly, Martin, sure. But this guy was ..i believe.. attempting to rent out vendor space to people (Dwellget doesn't charge, but there is an approval process - Arito can correct me if I'm wrong there) and doing real live customer service on products he had absolutely no connection to.

we found one of those rotating dollar signs by our money tree last night too. I deleted it before I looked at who owned it or created it, but I will look more closely next time, becasue I am sure it is going to happen again. People are always coming thru and putting stuff on our land, from posters advertising websites to 'adult oriented' items...and the banned list keeps growing.

I am still waiting for my settlement payment from falling down the elevator shaft of your furniture store.

Is the creator of the object posted in a censorship-free forum so I can ban them from my land?

I've seen the whole "dump invisible prim over objects" before. A friend of mine caught someone doing that to his vendor he had on his land...

It would be nice if the pay dialog would also list the object's name and owner right above the payment options.

If you are an owner of a money tree, be certain to check for an item near your tree that looks like this (the $ object on the right):

I found them by all three of my money trees - a user was kind enough to send an offline IM and notecard alerting me. The item tries to appear like it is part of the money tree, and encourages users to pay $100 to get back "passive income". It is just an attempt to get new users to give money in hopes of making money, and not getting anything back. I deleted the items and switched my land to autoreturn.

I seen these over in the olive sim in "Gus Hornp???" sim. I sim him about this too.Unreal this sort of events happening...

I should make my own 'Live with the stars! Elevate your second life!' they pay 100 bucks and it orbits them :P

From the offenders profile:

"I'm a very nice honest and direct person."

LOL!

I found one of these outside my store last night. I have newbie apartments on my land as well and was VERY pissed off to see this to say the least. Fortunately I was able to keep myself from deleting it long enough to AR and contact live help. UNfortunately by then I just wanted to go to bed and forgot to ban the people from my land. Can someone IM me in world and tell me the creator/owners names? I do remember that they were not the same.

Thank you!!!!

Oh, by the way we do *not* have a money tree in our area. I thought it was exclusive to those, but sadly these idiots will take advantage of anyone new enough to pay into them :(

So sad...

Folks, please continue to check under your trees if you don't have autoreturn on. I've seen three new dollar sign scams this morning, and that's just under the first two trees I've looked at. Sadly, some newbs are clearly buying into this scam, and (hopefully unwittingly) keeping it going. Just a heads up.

They are also starting to put them amongst money chair clusters they don't own.

Must be profitable.

This was posted in SLExchange forums by Kithylin Perth. I was under the assumption that they did nothing, but this is simple proof positive that these are a pyramid scheme.

What can we do to help LL get this eliminated other than abuse reports?

From: Kithylin Perth on SLExchange.com

when you pay into it, you get a copy of the object, and basicaly, instructions to just drop it in places where there are people to rake in the money.

Creator: bafilius Goff (prim+notecard, script is listed as (nobody))

This is a copy of the notecard inside:

Thank you for purchasing Magic Money!

You have just invested in the Magic Money! system.
Magic Money! works on a very simple idea.
All it does is sell itself!
That means that all you have to do is put it somewhere!
The more people that see it, the more will buy it!
Just like you did!
The fact that you bought it should be proof that it works.
When someone buys the Magic Money system from your Magic Money marker you get a full %90 commission!
So if you sell just 10 a week you can make L$900!
If you don't make at least L$90 back in one week IM me.
Simply return the kit to me and I'll refund your L$100.
But give it a solid try first.
If it's not working, put it near more people.

Magic Money! installation:
1 ) Drag the Magic Money! marker you were given onto the ground.
2 ) When it asks you if it may take money from you select yes. This is so that it can give you your %90 and me, my %10.
3 ) Right click on the Magic Money! marker you put down and select open. Drag the other copy of Magic Money! from your inventory into the object contents folder.

When you're all set up, you should join the magic money group for any questions you might have and to talk with other Magic Money! investors.
Subjects will include placement advice and marketing strategies. I will also be posting news and updates as they are available.
Spam will NOT be tolerated in this group. And the group is free. So you can feel safe in joining.
To join, just go to find, select the groups tab and search for Magic Money!.

In order to prevent griefing and spam, you are not allowed to place Magic Money! withing 70 meters of another Magic Money! marker.
If you try to do so, your Magic Money! will dissapear. There should still be a copy in your inventory or your trash can. If there isn't though, a free replacement can't be provided because proof of purchase is not possible.

Thanks a bunch,
bafilius Goff

Now they know who created it - and surely a Linden could view the script and see who it gives the 10% to for final proof - surely that individual can be acted against directly.

However, it's not clear how or if that section of the TOS applies to in-world stuff. If it did, it would be against TOS to transmit in-world advertising to anyone who didn't ask for it - which would mean you couldn't put up billboards, because when viewed they transmit advertising textures to the client without asking.
