Money tree scam

I've showed one of these little pox's to a linden today and I'm monitoring the police blotter so at tleast they are a ware of the problem although I think warnings are too soft but that is my my opinion

I wrote the glove so people could drop one on the object (stop its usefullness) IM the landowner and move on, so that the landowner could delete both at their convinience.

Well, I have to say first of all, that a long time ago I learned to set my land to auto return SPECIFICALLY because I had a money tree on it. One day it started sending me messages that it couldn't rez money, and this was because some people had come by and filled up my land with random objects. Ever since then, I've had everything set to auto return, and after the same "can't rez" problem happened once or twice more I've set it down to a very narrow window before it auto-returns.

After reading this thread, I have to say that I'm quite glad I have it set so. ^_^ I don't actually play my Jalia account most of the time or check my land that much... if these things had been left on my land and not auto-returned, I might not have noticed for quite some time.

In a related and somewhat funny note... I rented a stall for a very short time from Harry's Hideaway Casino or whatever it's called... and that was many months ago. I think the idea was that it was cheap and he had a money tree nearby, but I later came to the decision that renting mall stalls generally wasn't a good business strategy, and especially for a place like this that did not seem to generate a lot of traffic. Anyway, after the rental period was up my stuff was never returned to me... until just this week. I wonder, were these little money machines the reason Harry finally sent my stuff back to me? I figure he either set auto-return on or just went there himself and did some cleaning up. Heh. ^_^

Have you seen the lastest copycat cat of this problems............ its a box with a money script inside. GEsh don`t people. anything to have attention directed to them

About 10 years ago, back when the spam problem was really taking off, some performance artist in San Francisco found out about spam and created a "fake spam" that was really quite artistic and amusing, and sent it out, and when his ISP cut him off he got really amazingly upset about it. He was creating art! It was an ironic comment on the spam problem! How dare they treat his spam like it was actually spam!

So, you don't have to be high on anything but artistic inspiration to pull a bonehead move like this.
What did I say? This has to be stopped, now, by prompt and aggressive responses from Linden Labs... or it's going to be the next spam phenomenon. And since it's actually wire fraud there's no reason for them to hold back.

Well there is a repeat person but this one is in a box with a scam on it. I cased up and put text on it to haveit removed

Doing my rounds and have ran into three already. They had Magic money gloves around them so I couldn't see who the creators or owners were. This is a mixed bag. Yes newbies are kept fr om clicking on them but at the same time we can't file proper abuse reports if we can't see the owner and crator. This will make it harder for the lindens to stop the abuse. I know the people doing the gloves are trying to do good things but this issomething to think about

You can still select the object if you move your camera inside the glove or block.

If theowner of the land wishes to file an abuse report - just return the glove first ( choose owner and return etc ) then look at the $ sign and AR it before returning it.

Or ask the ejeet a page earlier to release his commision report and tell Linden who has purchased them.

(Better yet - ask Linden to do a database search and delete all scripts by afore mentioned ejeet with the appropriate container - Ie Magic Money! - or just all ALL scripts by him - that'd beat a 3 day ban )

However a simple 1 line sentence by Linden onthe Login screen

"Use of the Object Magic Money! will result in suspension"

Would clear the matter up just as quickly i believe.

mich, i been placing gloves around and telling owner. You should be reading the thread closer to know whats going on.........I been reporting abuse. But explaning ti the owners about the gloves and letting them doing the reports is more important.

wierd I guess one of thoose objects were bye my tree my friend told me about it I returned it and reset my tree. I was wonder what she ment when she mentioned it was a scam. I was like its not scam i put in money and all day i get ims from newbies taking the money. lol didnt know what the heck she ment lol and i returned the object not knowing what it was.

deff a scam altho in life u can join these as well and its doesnt seem to be illegal ppl get away with it all the time. the prombelm i have is, i have a store i made basicly for newbies and other avs on a budget and i didnt and wouldnt join this scam and it was on my land. thats what i dont think is right ppl can join whatever scam they want for all i care but I dont premit such things on my land.
I deff dont want newbies exposed to this crap on my land. I'm there to help them not hurt them.
