Communist Infiltration of SL Increasing

Much to the chagrin of true capitalists everywhere, the Communist infiltration of SL is approaching dangerous levels. The communists have (nearly) succeeded in devaluing the L$ by 20% over the past few months. Additionally, their influence has strongarmed LL into maintaining stipends (which is money LL simply creates out of thin air) which is flooding the SL platform with a sea of L$s, leading to further devaluation.

Moreover, lately they have increased their activity in the forum sector, escalating their socialist rhetoric to previously unseen levels. More and more forum posts demand "free" content and welfare. But nothing is free! The more LL hands out, the more we all pay. There is no free lunch. Somebody always pays.

These recent antics are evidence that the communist element of SL has stepped up their game and taken craftiness to a new level. They are much more organized and much more efficient than ever before.

Hopefully, LL will use some of the $11 million dollar funding it received to ward off these dangerous elements before SL undergoes a communist revolution and we all end up standing in bread queues and using Pravada as toilet paper.

People always whine for handouts, it doesn't make them communists, it makes them normal ol' lazy humans. And the 50L a week really won't effect inflation given the sinks set up in the system.

The price of the linden has to do with elasticity in the market. People selling L$ want more money, so they fight to leave it at a lower price. Since they're the only source for L$ aside from actually working in game, if they all want it lower, it'll go lower. On the reverse side, people are willing to pay absurd amounts of money for L$ and virtual land... enough so that they don't really care what the sellers's rates are.

It's not Commies lowering the value of the L$, it's the dwellfarming and people trying to move massive amounts of L$ quickly by using cutthroat pricing.

Yes, but the reason they are lowering the price is due to the flood of L$ in the market. If there wasn't such a sea of free money, the L$ would be more scarce, thus worth more.

IF (and this is a huge IF) every single resident logs on every single week, we're talking about around 850,000L$ being added to the system. I'm guessing in reality it's more around a quarter or a third of that, there's plenty of idle users, infrequent users, and people who don't spend their stipend. What's probably given out is around 250KL$ or 300KL$ a week.

How many uploads do you think are done in a week? There's a 10$/upload sink that I think would recover a majority of this. People just uploading photos from RL, not even textures, animations or sounds, is a huge sink.

Aside from that, so far today there's been 60K USD spent in SL. That's somewhere around 17 Million L$. Times that by 7, and you get 119 MILLION L$ a week spent.

Given the sinks in place and the size of the market, do you -really- think giving out the equivilant of a dime to all the residents is a huge problem? Your 'sea' of free money is really just a drop in a lake.

I wish I could bring back the days that it was safe to ride on a bandwagon without having to first double-check to make sure the permissions were set un-freebie... Now I hardly bother, because some jerk might come take and copy the bandwagon and resell it and call it capitalism.

Nearly every type of economy employs some elements of socialism. It's an ancient concept actually.

It's nearly impossible to get around it, and it isn't necessarily a bad thing if used judiciously.

50L$ a week isn't the harbinger of Red Dawn.

With the massive volume of uploading that goes on in SL (I have at times spent 1000s in a single week), that 50L isn't making a huge impact. Some? Yes. Enough to pick up the red phone? No.

I cannot get a whole bag of candy for under 2 dollars today.

We (in the US and many other western nations) have a national welfare system. In the US ours was scaled back a few years ago, and deadlines and other restrictions were added.

Clearly, we are living under a communist regime, and clearly we are communists, including Jamie, because she is the Ultra-Patriot, with so much love for the Bolshevik Regime that America has become.

It's a good thing we "won" the Cold War, isn't it, allies and fellow Americans?
