What part of that don't you understand? Second Life is an extremely complex product, much more so than any kind of online game like your beloved ToS (which, it would seem, you've gotten bored with because they no longer update it, which I find the height of irony). Due to SL's streaming nature as a platform (no online games stream everything, in fact, they stream VERY little and keep most things on your hard drive), the amount of data transmitted, bandwidth required, and server power required is exponentially high than online games. This is why it is within SL's nature to have downtime (planned and unplanned), and its covered in the ToS.
Live with it, or vote with your feet. Those are the only two options. Oh, I'm sorry, there is a third option: whining on the forums, and look how much that accomplishes.

There are two particular things I can't stand in the forums. One is when people say, "If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen". The other is when people use the word 'whining' for those who express dissatisfaction. Not often someone gets them both in the same paragraph. There should be a special award.  |

I'm not paying to be a tester of SL.
I have no issues with updates, i don't mind Linden closing the grid to fix issues but what i do NOT want is more bugs, uneeded and buggy new features and more lag when i actually can login.
How about focussing on really FIXING the old bugs and reducing the lag, leave us players alone for a bit and don't implement new stuff untill you have a new version with fixed bugs and tested it back and forth. I don't care if u need 2 or more days for a version like that.
Listen to your customers Linden, we don't want you to create new (buggy) features and close down SL EVERY WEEK, we want as less lag as possible, fixing of excisting bugs and working features.

Expressing dissatisfaction becomes whining if it fairly constant. Surely you've heard of the classic fable, "The Boy Who Cried Wolf." You also know as well as everyone that there are people who specialize in being regularly negative (not you, BTW). I'm just stating the facts: we all agreed to the Terms of Service, and whether or not you think the ToS stinks and is overbearing, the choices are live with the service provided by LL, or vote with your feet and look elsewhere. Wouldn't you agree that constructive criticism offering solutions is better than simply being constantly negative? Regards, -Flip

l agree with Noa Noland, all i would like, is to be able to do things like build etc..... and not worry about coming back and its all gone. fix the old bugs. lol. i still have that old inventory bug that gave us 2 trashes and2 notecards from last yr lol....i would rather think on the bright side of things... instead of all the negs.... we all know theres goin to be times like this.... but it would be better to look after the old bugs first!...... "wonders if bug spray might work!. : )

Having been in SL for more than 2 years, I'm definitely playing a different game than you. Yeah, I think we are indeed playing different games. The one I'm playing is one where the tried-and-tested shapshot system has been mutated into something annoying and unwelcome, and on my fourth snapshot, it crashed the client. But hey, I'd really love to visit your perfect world where everything is awesome. Where can I download that one? |
