-50 for account age. I mean, I hate to be that guy, but this really is kind of a no-newbs-allowed discussion. Am I off base with that? Coot-off! I mean, seriously, are we going to have a coot-off to determine who's the oldest coot of them all here or what? And yeah, more age = more sl experience = less newbiness. On the other hand, less age = more newbiness = less old coot being too used to the way things are to move on.... iness. _____________________

Jennyfur Peregrine - Nice to know one of the people chosen has there head up there ass. <snip> With the exception of miss head up her ass, I will talk to the people chosen to see what topics they are going to talk about. Thank you for you thoughtful contribution. I rarely AR people, but this is over-the-top even for this thread. Oh, And Jenn isn't going even though she was invited, so dead horse anyone? Coco and Lewis may drive me insane with their stances, but at least they have content to their arguments, not just vitriol. _____________________

Jennyfur Peregrine - Nice to know one of the people chosen has there head up there ass. Tread very lightly there, rookie. She's just brutally honest and calling people who are constantly negative, paranoid, and seeing conspiracies exactly what they are. You may want to learn a little bit more about everyone involved - and spend more than 25 days in Second Life - before choosing to pass judgement. I'll chock it up to a rookie mistake this time. Undoubtedly. The probability . . . Coco starting this thread was 99.999999999999999999% The other .000000000000000001% was the slim chance of them being crushed by a falling meteor before they could get to their keyboards. I'm glad that you are so familiar with my view on things like this. It means I have done a good job of stating them in the past, and impressing on you how strongly I feel about them. My view is that it is always wrong to just select people out of the populace for any perks, privileges, or opportunities, including this one. It is always better to have an open call for those who are interested, and then select who you want. That way everyone has an equal opportunity. The establishment of the Developer's Directory was an excellent move in this direction. While not everyone will be accepted to it, everyone can apply. Though LL has the final decision, everyone has the opportunity to express their interest, say why they would be good, and make application.. That process is not only better for us, it is better for LL, and for the future of SL. In this particular instance, it is also my view that this is far more crucial than any of the other examples of this sort of thing, because it is a permanent Advisory Committee, purportedly designed to get the feel of the population (as well as just get good ideas and brainstorm) and to help LL decide how they will do things. As such, they represent a permanent government over us - something we were promised would never be, but now are given, not just as a government, but as an appointed one, like the King's courtiers. The most interesting thing I've read in this thread (so far, I'm still several pages behind) was Nolan likening the advisory committee to the President's cabinet, which is not elected. Put this way, it makes a great deal more sense to me. Of course, our "president" is never going to change, but indeed, a president does have rights to his cabinet, and to choose them as he so desires. The fly in the ointment, though, is that this cabinet will actually help make decisions in how we are governed, and we don't have an elected body to represent us. Since we don't have a way to have this (and it's something the vast majority of people don't want anyway), having an appointed cabinet to run things is still a bad idea. coco _____________________

On the other hand, less age = more newbiness = less old coot being too used to the way things are to move on.... iness. Sorta, Rasah. I'd say there's an intermediate stage... but right when you hit SL, you don't have any context yet. (Unless you're an alt.) I'd say there's nothing wrong with a month or so old "newbie" to be participating in matters like this, after you get your bearings. But after a few days? I don't think that's the 'lack of resistance to change' speaking, i think it's the lack of context speaking. I think you -stop- being a newbie when you get exactly that: awareness of your surroundings, some basis, some context, and some idea of what's going on. That can happen very quickly. But I have my doubts as to whether or not it could happen in 15 days. Unless you had absolutely nothing else to do. |

Heh, don't be too quick to judge recent accounts as newcomers.
Although it is very funny to...er..."amaze" the general populace with my knowledge of SL history with my young account age. (Bwahahaha!)Okay, back on topic: I really do feel very happy for the people chosen, and if any of them are watchin this thread (Oz...this means YOU! ), I want to wish them good luck!Oh, and don't be dazzled by the Linden fluffiness! o.o It's pink. _____________________

With the exception of miss head up her ass, I will talk to the people chosen to see what topics they are going to talk about. At this point I do beleive it is a PR stunt. and you are? do i know you? do i even care? zOMG I'm gonna go cry now cause like you think I have my head up my ass. For the record, I believe in being honest, which seems to me like something some people have an inability to handle. For example, if you act like a paranoid loon I am going to call you on your bullshit for it. Also, I refuse to blow smoke up peoples asses and I call things like I see them. If you can't deal with that then like bugger off and go do something constructive like play in traffic. _____________________

I'm old enough in RL to know a stuck up person when I see one. I don't need SL experince to tell when someone has their head up their butt. Yes, because we all know stuck up people love to help with charitible causes such as VERTU and Relay For Life, help newbies with design tutorials, give back to the community by being a Live Helper and help organize conventions for the community in RL. What have you done? -Flip _____________________
