What, because I refuse to get all emotional and panicky over Linden Labs screwup and paint everything about them in the blackest hues?

Oh, they screwed up in all kinds of ways here, but it's not the $20 per month price increase that's the problem... even at $95 a month OpenSpaces or Homesteads or whatever they call them would be a bargain. It's the way they mishandled them, starting with the mixed signals about what you're supposed to use them for, through the second price increase next July, that's turned them into a mess. I'm not defending any of that, just pointing out that *right now* those OpenSpaces/Homesteads people are sitting on, at the moment, are *still* a better deal than anything else you can get for the money.

No because you are looking at the exact same facts as the rest of us and are coming up with a completely different conclusion. I don't see how you think that it is still such a great deal when you are paying an extra $20US in tier, loss of resale value, getting avatar, script and other limits imposed and you think that the privacy, extra area (but no prims) and estate tools are a fair trade on the other side.

I think it is tolerable but definitely not a good deal as you do... and at an extra $50US in tier in July it moves from being tolerable to completely unreasonable.

** Also I have left out other details above for simplicity. For instance most renters won't have access to the estate tools, and if you are owning it requires that you own a full sim already.... which is another hurdle that makes it difficult as a product.

All that means nothing,i do not have estate tools,i do not have unlimited terraforming, yes i have privacy
It's not Linden Labs who is denying you that stuff, it's the middleman.

It is not the $20 people are upset about,if LL left it at that most would be happy with that.
I'm glad you agree with my point.
From: someone
It's the jump to $125 that is the problem and for that price you can't say we are getting value for our money.
I haven't said $125 is "value for money". I haven't said anything like that. I said that $75 was an incredible bargain, and $95 is still a bargain, and that's it.
From: someone
The real picture will become clear in july when the $125 clicks in,then you will see a huge reduction in homesteads as people give them up because they can't afford to keep them any longer
Yes, that's quite likely.

Where am I doing that? I think you're reading something into my posts that I didn't put there.

"even at $95 a month OpenSpaces or Homesteads or whatever they call them would be a bargain."

I completely disagree, for the reasons I put in my last post. That is why I say we are looking at the same information and reaching a completely different conclusion.

You're quite entitled to disagree, but other people (yes, even in this thread which selects for people who are LIKELY to agree with you) have come to other conclusions. The statements that have been attributed to me that people are uniformly opposed to, things like "$125 is fair", are not statements that I have actually made.

Four times the land area.
Estate tools.
Privacy.
Unlimited terraforming.

$20 per month? Not a bargain? You're crazy.

Where is the bargain when you rent it knowing full well in six months all you build on the homestead will have to come down because the price is going up past the point where you originally got that bargain.
The bargain is for a short term lease only

As I've already noted, I am in complete agreement with that point.

i apologize, the posts kind blend together and as answers keep getting posted we tend to lose sight of some things.

Wow am I glad I decided to leave SL back in April. Stopped back to see what up, find all sorts of the same BS and absolutely nothing to lure a person back. Looks like the same old system outages, same crappy policies, same old clothing makers... zzzzzzzzzz......

I'm glad my RL keeps me interested enough not to need a SL. What a huge waste of time and money.

Wow, we are all so happy for you. The cake should be arriving any time.

Of course them having a real life means they will probably never see your reply, how sad is that? :(

So, how do I deactivate a homestead sim? ...can't seem to find anything in Support that explains it (what a surprise).
