If all builders were this willing to help it wouldnt' be as big an issue for sure... but I would think the loss of individual sales might not make up for one SIM owner stamping out buildings... and even then, it would be good advertising. But this isn't a discussion on the art of building sales

Its too bad there are so many things in SL that are restricted just because of the few that abuse things.... even then there are ways around it for those that are bent on stealing/cheating.

TP'ing someone to , or being Tp'd to a place where the ceiling is just a little too low and having their head (or yours) stuck in the ceiling and unable to get out easily.

Are you serious? You think everything that you buy in SL should full permissions?


My biggest bug bear is the lag at the moment and people that IM the 1st second you log in

Um, clothing in RL is not copy...if you want more than one of whatever, you have to buy it.

Or learn how to sew and spend your whole week-end trying to 'copy' an item you just bought. The only thing I know how to sew is a button back on... I think the option of transfer OR copy is great, although, when it comes to clothes, I prefer copy.

Pet peeve threads are always fun...and I suppose always relevant, as people's "peeves" change with time.

A couple of my latest:
People who can't communicate without gestures of some kind...if I really wanted to see a piss-poor re-enactment of a scene from "Superbad" with a mile of text and crappy sound bites to go with it, I'd simply go to Youtube...
Most gestures don't do a thing to enhance my SL experience, and honestly, take time and space I could use for ANYTHING else...

Profiles with "if you f*** with so-and-so, you f*** with me!" or something to that extent (usually regarding family, friends or slaves).
For me, if you mess with my friends? I'm not going to save you from them...they're not the types to lay down and take it...fuck with them, you deserve whatever happens to you.

But the one constant? Rudeness.
I'm not here to be your source of financing, entertainment, nor an NPC.
Sadly, many people coming into SL (has been like this since I started) seem to think that SL is just another MMORG filled with encounter points...so they treat everyone they see as if they didn't count for anything...
"give me money" "give me sex" "give me something to sell so I can get rich"
Or, at the minimum, they forget the basics of human interaction...

If we can at least remember there are human beings on the other end of the AV we're dealing with, I think it can help make SL a little better overall.

The lack of a "transfer-all-copies-only" permission is very frustrating, yes.

Chosen, I'm sorry if I touched a nerve! I'd been told by another builder that when making prefabs, especially if they're going to be no-copy no-modify, then it's a good idea to include some overlap because if there is prim drift then the customer won't be able to fix it or rerez. Evidently that wasn't a popular viewpoint

However, I should then add - the "maybe there is, maybe there isn't" detante when you're dragging prims, at the moment when they're properly aligned.

Irresponsible prim/poly usage !!!
It took only one new neighbor to move in and craft an ugly, rounded alien monstrosity out of cut hollowed torii to ruin my home. Went from 40fps steady in full windlight details down to using an old client, reduced visuals, much lowered draw distance, and never more than 15fps. KTri's right through the roof... Thanks buddy! Use your head, it's not a dedicated private class5 island specifically setup for your build... it's class4 original mainland that you have to share with everyone else who's purchased the right to be there.

Sim resource hogging...
Most people know about the drain from too many AV's that mainland clubs, malls, and gathering spots put on the sim... Why do so many people seem to have a problem with grasping the idea of "shared limited resources"?

NoMod attachments of any kind...
One size DOES NOT fit all... no, not even one your included 3 wacked out sizes work, not even close.

I've seen unimaginative people do that and it looks just awful... ticky tacky, makes it look like the owners taste is all in their mouth.

My only real complaint in SL is being trashed off when I cross region lines. I HATE THAT and because my stomping ground is spread around five regions I get booted off a lot Used to be having my shoes and hair jammed where the sun don't shine at the same time but Nicholaz fixed that some time ago.

In RL pet peeves are beers without twist off lids, wet toilet seats and any sentence that starts with "I think you should.."

I'm so danged mad at you for that stuff a while back. I'll NEVER forgive you for whatever it was you did to piss me off. In fact, I'm considering following you around and saying awful things about you to all your friends in IM. I'm sure they'll take my side.

LMAO - I might have to add this comment to my profile. I love it and it is definitely true of most of my friends. They can take care of matters as they see fit and probably wouldn't want or need me to interfere anyway.

This is a good list. I hate the "If you mess with X, You mess with me." Thing, only because if it's in the profile, it's not directed to a specific threat. It's just someone running around being overly aggressive when it's uncalled for. Why would I mess with X? There's a million avatars out there. I don't even know who I'm supposed to not mess with. Why is this person threatening random people who read his or her profile with revenge for something they have never contemplated doing? What kind of jackass does that?

People are people, whether they are physically present or represented by an avatar. You should always treat them with the same decency you would if you were face to face. I don't know why people don't understand that.

That's something that really drives _me_ crazy. Seeing people attack "unimaginative people", as if being unimaginative was a choice. I think it's more like a disability.

What annoys me?

Thoughtless building - typically someone who puts up a screen round their property that might show nice trees or sky on the inside but from the outside it shows something ugly like default plywood or 8 giant floor tiles.

Residents who fail to 'get' SL and just see it as a chat room where they just happen to have an avatar that moves round a 3D space.

People who keep using multi-line gestures like the howling wolf, or keep going
'GRROOWWLLSS' or 'HOOOOOOO'!

Punk newbies doing the 'Letsgocrazy' dance at infohubs.

Also, sado-masochism in SL gives me the jeebies. I'm not prudish, I'm actually a naturist in SL, but the idea of getting pleasure from being whipped, stretched, chained up or whatever, let alone even more grizzly things, leaves me cold.

I actually don't have many pet peeves about SL, other than (said with tongue in cheek):

No-copy houses/buildings. I did finally learn to lock my houses, but I deleted my favorite home at least 3 times while thinking I had clicked on something else. The same with my skybox, which left me and all my furniture hanging in mid-air with nothing around us. I understand the reasoning behind no-copy homes, but I don't buy them if they're not just because I myself mess up too often.

Stores with a lot of particle effects, because they really increase my lag. If you're not selling them, you really don't need them.

People who bump into you and can't even say sorry. (that's one of my pet peeves in RL, too...that and people who can't thank you when you hold a store door open for them)

Lag-but a lot of mine is due to my computer, not SL.

Arrogance, whether in SL, RL or on the forums.

On the forums:

Negativity in every post by someone (speaking generally, of course)

Hmmmm...felt pretty good to put those in words. Thanks, OP. But, don't count on creations all being made full-perm. No one would be able to make any money if that were to happen, everyone's hard work on original content would be considered common place and nothing special and shopping wouldn't be as fun since everything would end up a freebie, and we'd all be wearing the exact same things all the time. It's much better with limited permissions, believe me.

People who use spankers repeatedly...over and over and over and over....sheesh...WE GET IT..you found his/her spanker. It's only funny the first hundred times in chat...NOT.

Ummm, I don't build, script, sell, grief, design, teach or mentor.

I happen to have an avatar that moves around a 3D space, chats, dances, looks at stuff, clicks on stuff, and dances some more. I turned Drivin Sideways sideways while AFK but only because Rob made me.

I suppose I don't 'get' what I'm not 'getting'.

While I can't cover everything some of the ones I will put in are:


1. Anything being sold that's non-mod. Many times out of not knowing how to run a business properly or out of the paranoia that runs rampamt among builders/shopowners.

2. People, especially people in these forums who over-do it trying to act nice. They want to be one of the crowd so bad so they over-do it acting this way but the phoniness is so transparent.

3. Those who love wandering into other peoples property using the "I'm exploring" tiresome line as an excuse. Then bitch about ban lines or security keeping them out or ejecting them out of these places.

4. Idiots who begin to walk before rezzing, pushing and dragging everyone near with them.

5. People, couples who use public chat to tell how much they love each other. It irks me and it's nauseating when they continue doing this. After a while I will tell them no one wants to hear that to take it to private chat where it belongs. This is just bad as number 2.

There's a few more but for the most part this is it.

Sometimes you haven't rezzed for them yet, though, so they don't actually know that they bumped you. I tend to ignore it unless someone shoves me across a room (or the equivalent).
