A group is forming Named "Class Action". The idea is to raise funds to get a real and good lawyer to look at Linden Lab's behavior over the years and see if there truly is some case against them. Although the land is the latest fiasco and this group is forming seeded from current land owners. Everyone is open to talking with lawyers about every thing and anything that has gone on as far back as even the GOM or before.
Many speculate with land owners alone if everyone even donated as little as $100 real there would be plenty to hire a GOOD lawer, there are LOTS of land owners who have lost way more then that.
All put together this could be substaintial enough to do something REAL.
Alone we are weak but together we could get some professional help (which I may need!)
The group welcomes anyone from people who lost in bank close downs, after advertising that as a business model, to casino banning, after advertising that as a bussiness model, to ad farmers to WHO EVER wants to participate in this cause.
We are not lawyers we just know it has gotten out of control. At least this time the people affected are plenty enough and have resources enough that SOMETHING may be done in real.
This is not being done to give any message to LL. We don't need to give them any message at all they are fully aware of thier behavior. This is to actually get consultation and do something real for a change. A message or an open letter is not strong enough.
Is there a question here? Yes there is. The question is whom would be willing to support such a cause and how deep would you dig to help. It has gotten to a point people are no longer willing to roll over every month.
The group has already recived individual pledges of over 250K lindens from people who are tired of this propetual behavior.
No one is debating what if any case there is in any area against LL at this time. Land is a focus at this point yes, but everyone has agreed that is for a lawyer, and hopefully a GOOD lawyer to figure out.
I personally have pledged funds. Anywhere this goes wheather it benifits me personally or not I do not care it is the least I can do. We are all sick of it.
So here is the question in resident answers to the residents:
Whom would like to begin and be willing to give REAL support to this cause?
p.s. I am not organizing this, I am certainly joining in. I just want the question above answered to see for myself what the willingness in participation might become.

From: Chilly Charlton Although the land is the latest fiasco You're going to sue them over lowering their prices? You'll be laughed out of court. From: Chilly Charlton ...people who lost in bank close downs You're going to sue them because they shut down unregulated banking?? Again, you're looking to get laughed at. Same goes with LL following federal laws by banning gambling and by LL stopping the extortion of ad farmers. Most of what you're complaining about is LL stopping people who prey on others. Maybe you should sue for not allowing sexual ageplay too? I'd suggest people don't contribute to this. Instead, just throw 1/2 the money you might donate to it at me instead. I'll use all of it to buy art, donate to charities or buy shoes. I guarantee it will be better spent that way.

I sometimes have to wonder what people, like the OP, are smoking and/or drinking when they decide to post here.
Before the OP, or anyone supporting this idea, wastes time on a 'GOOD lawyer' you better read the TOS and understand that LL owes you nothing in the way of stability, uptime, ability to make money or anything else. You accept the TOS when you first play, it is incumbent upon you to understand what you are accepting and if you decide to change your mind then YOU are violating the agreed to TOS and should leave.
After you throw Sindy the first half of that donation, throw me the other half, we can sure put it to better use.

This has got to be a joke. And it's funny. Just sue all businesses world wide then. I get ripped off every time I leave home.

oh I am leaving this game and will only have a preasence in it while people are still renting from me I will not pull sims out from under them.
as far as the tos I really think that is for a lawyer to figure out how much that can really hold up when being robbed.

Chilly, you aren't being robbed. You are giving them your money of your own free will.

How have you been robbed? Did you voluntarily accept the TOS? Do you voluntarily pay for purchases in the world? Has anyone forced, coerced, threatened or otherwise, with malice of forethought, caused you do do anything, say or act in anyway that was not voluntary?
I would believe that any sensible court would ask those same questions and, if, you answer them honestly then you will see the case dismissed.
You money and time to waste.

I won't post to or read this thread anymore. If you are fed up with LL then ban together and help this group raise some money. If there is any way the lawyers will find it. LL has burned enough people all they have to do is ban together as a whole to be strong.
I suspect the group will not become strong enough and that will only be because people are unwilling to ban together. But now is the time if there ever was one. I'm chipping in and doing my part.
Anyone for this type of action need not even reply to the thread, just join the group and support it in silence you will only be torn apart in here.
Flamers are welcome, let them flame this thread, supports can silently join and grow the group strong.
Have fun flaming y'all!

If Chilly can't take the criticism and joking in this thread he/she will have no chance in a court of law.

From: Dekka Raymaker All new island owners could donate like $675 US because it would be like they lost nothing Perhaps they could make it a $695 tax on all new islands & make everyone who buys a new island pay $695 into a crisis fund for existing finacially crippled island owners. Maybe existing island owners who feel the lowering of prices is a bad thing could show their defiance and give $695 to a RL charity everytime they buy another island? The price of all cars just dropped 40% overnight and you want to sue car companies because your family 4 door car is worth less, rofl.......................

LL, when and if these accounts are banned for whatever reason please forward all remaining L$, parcels, and islands to the care of Sensual Anaconda. You can distribute the remainder of their inventory amongst any prim babies I might have in the future by way of an SL trust fund.
Thank you that is all.

I think every massively-multiplayer game ever released has had some lunatic on the forums threatening a lawsuit over perceived damages due to downtime or changes made to the game.
I'm glad to see this proud tradition extends to SL.

One thing that has not been discussed in the threads I have read about the lowering of costs is that LL flat says inthat blog post they will review the result quarterly and adjust the prices again up or down.
to my mind that screams this is only a short term SALE on land. We gonna sockit to you again withing a quarter or 2.
People are getting all up in arms and it may well revert back fairly quickly.

As for Chilly, a class auction lawsuit will do no good. I know you've been unhappy since last summer but the best thing you can do is take a break, it's not worth getting yourself this wound up.
