Please stop making long glitch pants no modify!
When i spend over $1000L on a dress i would like the option of at least shortening the ugly pants and wearing stockings.
If i buy a dress in RL i can take scissors to it if i like, please dont deny me mod on these things.
Or take a moment to make a panties version in the first place.
Thanks

I will never change my shape to fit a piece of clothing.
And why not make such clothing mod? I have oftered wondered why many make f.i. pants no mod, hence making it impossibte to wear them with my favourite boots etc.

Sassy- check out my shop both inworld and on slexchange and onrez - all of my stuff is Copy/Mod. I find we need those options- it makes it easier to fit and to make up dress folders as well. IM me if you are looking for something you haven't found- I would be happy to give it a shot for you.

*blinks* Glitch pants that are no mod and whatever? Let me guess, the dress is no mod also?
Me, everything I sell with a gown is mod/copy, like the gown. It mucks up the freaking box otherwise.

Is there a reason why designers don't want their clothes mod? Is it because they're scared someone will ruin them and then set a bad example of their designs or is there a security kind of issue?

From: Ciaran Laval Is there a reason why designers don't want their clothes mod? Is it because they're scared someone will ruin them and then set a bad example of their designs or is there a security kind of issue? One reason is they want to offer the same outfit in 10 different colors and they want to prevent people from just buying the white (or near white) version and tinting the outfit themselves.

I don't make clothing, but I can tell you what would make one paranoid as so far as not to give mod/copy rights if it's a prim object such as a skirt or whatever else might be attachable. Because too many people (if you want to call them that) will copy your coordinates and make them their own to resell. Probably a little paranoid to think this way but I've seen a lot of people piss and moan about their items being copied...just saying.

Theres also those who don't make a copy first then modify prim parts to the point they've destroyed the item for all intents and purposes who contact the designer wanting either a new copy or a refund.

I usually only do one color per outfit so for me that would not be a concern. Had not thought of the prim thing- but really doesn't bother me. I wouldn't do such a thing- if others are so horrible at their craft they have to rely on stealing it, that is theirs to deal with. My stuff is mine and I am the only one I have to please at the end of the day.

Every time I think I'm finally getting the hang of SL, someone throws me a curve ball.
What are glitch pants?
I've heard people mention them, and I'm assuming it has something to do with women's clothing, but the rest is a bit hazy. I've obviously managed to do just fine without them so far, but I'm curious.

Basically just shorts textured the same as the prim skirt

Most of the time, the prim skirt actually is modifiable -- though a few have taken to using those silly resize scripts in an effort to protect themselves. It is the mesh clothing that sometimes is not, yet there are many of us that would like to sometimes shorten the glitch pants. I have gotten so that I will only buy items where I can see the folder contents and verify that certain pieces are modifiable.

Ditto. I also like to see what layers are included. Slightly off topic: Why does the socks layer go on top of the underwear layer?? In most cases that isn't a problem, but I like to wear pants that have prims for around the ankles (rather than using the awkward flare on pants). Most often, the "tight around the ankles" pants have been assigned to the underwear layer. As a result, if you then also wear sock or stockings, they end up on top of the pants.

From: MoxZ Mokeev Because too many people (if you want to call them that) will copy your coordinates and make them their own to resell. Probably a little paranoid to think this way but I've seen a lot of people piss and moan about their items being copied...just saying. No mod on prims to prevent recreation/copying is no more effective than making a notecard no mod and thinking noone will be able to copy it; the text of the notecard is still visible and can simply be copy/pasted and it's essentially no different for prims or clothing or anything other than scripts. --- Personal petpeeves: 1) there's no need to spam a notecard or landmark on arrival. I'm quite capable of clicking a sign if I want information and will make a landmark if I think a place is worth it 2) don't spam group-invites just for visiting your store, buying something at your store, etc 3) "Don't expect help if you don't receive what you paid for" in your profile as store policy isn't an incentive to buy anything 4) don't "photoshop" ads - Photoshop can make Ruth look like a beauty queen but it won't change the fact that it looks awful in-world. If I buy something and it turns out that the ad was enhanced to cover up flaws or otherwise deceptive it's the last thing I'll ever buy from that store 5) freebies shouldn't be awful - if I come across a new store I'll often pick up a freebie or a lower priced item in order to judge actual quality rather than trust ads (see 4). If it turns out to be poor quality I'll assume the rest of what's on sale is just photoshopped to look better on the ad and move on 5) rereleasing "Limited Editions" - LEs are generally significantly more expensive due to the implied exclusivity (in amount or time), releasing them as a freebie or selling them after any amount of time is dishonest and deceptive 6) demos are a good thing - precious few stores will either offer the actual item as a demo (on limited layers, ie PixelDolls) or with demo overlayed on it like skins (ie Hexed). It definitely makes me spend less initially since misbuys are almost entirely avoidable, but it does mean I'll be back again and again 7) offering C/NT *and* NC/T is a good thing - whether it's on request, choice in the store or offering one in the store and the other on OnRez/SLX *never* use the word 'worn' as part of the name (even worse if it's " worn" ) when something is no-mod 9) don't put a sexy walk in shoes, don't put clickety-click sounds in shoes, don't put bling that can't be turned off in jewelry, ... If it's absolutely necessary at least provide an extra copy without all of that (turning it off doesn't eliminate the script resource usage) 10) too small is better than too big - I have a belt I simply love, but it looks like a hoola hoop when I wear it and the dozens of 0.010cm prims make it practically impossible to size it down (simlarly glitch pants that end at the thigh while the hem of the skirt is below the knee) 11) use descriptive names for layers - if an outfit looks like a jacket over a top and I see there's both a jacket and shirt layer I'll generally assume that each piece is it's own layer. If I'm buying it specifically for the top or the jacket it's dissapointing to find out that all the layers are simply a composite Done ranting now .

I refuse to buy items, especially really expensive ones, that are No Mod =x
My avatar is somewhat of a typical size, but I still run into snags that leaves some things looking really weird and out of place. But a 1,000L snag? I'd be 'kindly' asking the creator to help make it better.
Kitty - I have to agree with all your Pet Peeves. We all KNOW how to make Landmarks, and we can click on the little signs around the shops for info and such. All that spam just shoves me right back out the door.

and another thing ...
07-28-2008 10:38
Is there a reason demo hair and skins can't be transferable? If I am shopping for these I tend to pick up a load of demos before buying the one that's right. Often, I'll think "well, that doesn't suit me, but it would look great on my friend", but I can't pass it on. I can't help thinking that creators are missing a trick in terms of word-of-mouth advertising here. Kitty, I share most of your pet peeves, especially the shoes with sexy walk or clip-clop sound in them. If I can, i delete the offending shoe and copy the other to make up the pair. And no-mod glitch pants ... grrrr ... I usually end up making my own and just trying to match them as best as possible but it's not the same as having the proper texture on them. Rha, I will check your stuff out on my next shopping trip

Nice "rant", Kitty! I found it informative as a new designer, the feedback is invaluable- I will add the Demo thing to my new items good idea. Re the freebie: here is mine- I can't see why you would not put out a "Good"thing as a freebie- it is your calling card- why would you return to a place where the sample is crap- As for Photoshop- I use it to put my ads together- but would never resort to doctoring the picture- besides just plain dishonest- who would come back to by again if they cannot rely on what they see?

LOL pretty much (ask anyone who knows me, chances are, yep) (of course not 24 hours, that is just common sense, however, I do spend about 10 hours a day on SL, so chances of catching me are pretty high)
