So vice is only possible with voice or has voice become a vice?

.d

What was the question again? I had to hide under the desk to avoid a hunk of falling sky.

Imo, this is really good news for SL, it's residents, and most especially, its future. I started a thread some time ago, saying that SL hasn't a hope in hell of succeeding, which was because of its continual instabilities, and LL's preference for introduing new stuff instead of dealing with them well enough. Even though Philip said that in 2008 they would deal with stability rather than introducing new stuff, we're almost a quarter of the way through the year, and it continues to be new, new and new stuff. With a business person at the helm, we will hopefully see SL develope to become a suitable environment for RL business to come into, which will change it from being just a hobby for many people, into being a multi-purpose environment, like the web.

i think phil and cory (and everyone at the lab for that matter) deserve a long, restful vacation - considering that none of this, not a single spark, existed just a few short years ago (i know, may seem like an eternity instead;) ... but in retrospect it's amazing how far it has come. i say, CONGRATULATIONS PHIL!! :))

If anyone noticed the blog post about the Concierge Party did mention the Ides of march and killing Caesar.

All of a sudden, I'm more glad I had to hunt down a Roman tunic yesterday (thanks, Forum Cartel, for your help!)

Considering LL's penchant for basing decisions on looks over functionality, I would like to be the first to welcome our new CEO, Paris Hilton.

I think if I had the choice to be chairman and not likely to be sacked or CEO but likely to be sacked I know what I'd do too.

If it's Meg Linden, I take back everything I said on the other thread about advertising not being in SL.

EBay chief executive Meg Whitman will retire from the post soon, the WSJ reported today. And that means eBay is at the most critical point in its history. The retirement news isn't a surprise; we discussed the idea of her resignation earlier this month. Whitman, 51, has been giving her top executives more responsibilities recently and could be grooming one to replace her.

can you imagine the conversations at the interviews?

"what people fly in SL?",
"ok run that by me again, what's a prim?"
"is it true that one of the CEO perks is that you get to have a private island full of nekkid women?"
"I won't need vigara anymore?"

In the last few months, Linden Lab has gotten excellent direction as far as policy, features, and fixes. However the _application_ of that policy is still the usual Linden Lab game. Others have seen it, and now it seems that LL does to. This is an excellent move because it will allow Philip to still have say over policy and direction while delegating to a more experienced person the wheel of the company.

This isn't "SL is failing," this is "SL has gotten so big that they need restructuring." This is a sign that LL is thriving, and on the way from becoming a quirky startup to a streamlined, efficient company (while maintaining the general direction of the founder.)
