EXCLUSIVE-Second Life founder Rosedale to step down as CEO - RTRS

NEW YORK, March 14 (Reuters) - Linden Lab, the company that runs the popular virtual world Second Life, said on Friday it has begun a search to replace founder Philip Rosedale with a chief executive who has more management expertise, following a time-honored start-up tradition.

Rosedale will become chairman of the Linden Lab board when his successor is found, replacing Mitch Kapor, who will remain a board member and the company's largest investor alongside Benchmark Capital. Rosedale said he will also keep a full-time role at the company working on product development and strategy.

I suggest changing the title of this thread.
He didn't resign flat out. He's set to step aside as soon as an outside "executive search team" finds a new CEO, and the board approves it. This process could take "soon to many months".

Respek to Philip for this decision. While we might fear some imagined "evil corporate CEO" replacing him, I believe that this move is in all of our best interests with regard to the scalability and growth of our world. The winds of change are blowing.
