for tax purpoes........

Report worthless securities on Schedule D (Form 1040), line 1 or line 8, whichever applies. In columns (c) and (d), enter "Worthless." Enter the amount of your loss in parentheses in column (f).

LOL very true -

But if you were going to try to tell a judge they were worth something and you got robbed ..

With a difference...

I recognize a hopeless case and move on.

I think it is better to avoid a hopeless case than BE one, don't you? :P

I almost didn't post this, but shit happens.

I'm keeping faith that there is a way to help the depositors even if that means the insiders still win by ugly means. If it goes from win-lose to win-win, that is something better. It is not yet hopeless in that sense, but ya you'r right.:) lol

The only problem is that it will only ever work like this:

win-*lose*
win-win-LOSE
win-win-win-*LOSE*
win-win-win-win-*IT'S ALL FREAKING LOST AND GETTING WORSE EVERY ITERATION, DAMMIT!*

I really wish the people who believe in Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, and Other Magical Beings Who Can Magick Money Out Of Thin Air would get a clue. Here it is: For there to be ANY significant winners in this deal, SOMEONE *HAS* to lose, and the longer it goes on, they have to lose bigger each iteration. I would just prefer it (the Loser) be the person most responsible for the disaster to begin with; however, We All Know THAT Will Never Happen.

Yes.

The best case solution now is for someone to get Nick to liquidate everything held in the name of Ginko. Divide that number by the number of bonds and then pay off each Bond by that amount.

If its 25 cents, 50 cents whatever.

The amount Nick pocketed without investing and the amount he gave to his freinds is just a write off.

This is what would happen if it were a real bank that became insolvent.

---------------------------------------

Of course thats not what will happen becuase there no way to make Nick do it. So he is like a Gambling addict. "ill quit - Just as seeon as I get my stake back, just another hand - youll see"

or Ponzi himself (emphasis mine):

From: Wikipedia
"There was something clueless in Ponzi's cleverness. He had set a scheme in motion that was sure to collapse sooner or later. He was pulling in a pile of cash, but only at the expense of going into even greater debt. At some point the logical move, from a criminal viewpoint, would have been to relocate to a place outside the reach of American authorities. Instead, he stayed where he was and continued to pay out.

...

>>>Ponzi wanted to look as honest as possible, and according to his autobiography, he was always hoping he could use the fortune he was accumulating to start a legitimate business that would make enough money to pay back all his investors and make everyone rich.<<<

...

Among the ideas he floated was buying a $300 million American warship and turning it into a floating shopping mall, promoting patriotism and commerce by stocking it with American goods. However, like most of Ponzi's business plans this was wild and absolutely impossible; if he ever had $300 million to spend from his out-of-control scheme, he would be that much in debt ($3 billion in 2006 dollars) before he sold a single thing from his ship."

You'r right. I got this book to write now, and title it "How to make you own damn perpetual bond for dummies." I thought it would be great for those that are burdened by the child support system. You know, fight fire with fire. We already know that CSS is a ponzi scheme just like you say... someone always loses... and that someone is the children most and then the one who has been burdened, which also takes all the blame.

Yep, we all are suckers for trying to help the children under that ponzi scheme that we get shoved down our throats. I guess one could accept a complete loss and have no chance to help to children. :(

Think of the Children!! I am.. I am thinking they go down good with a little catsup. *burp* :D

Clue for ya, Dzon: Ponzis are Ponzis because they are run by private individuals against other private individuals. Government social programs aren't Ponzis because they are foisted onto the Citizenry BY the government. Remember, YOU (the general you) voted that crap in, or at least voted in the morons who imposed it on the rest of us. Don't like it? Vive la revolution!

As long as you can laugh at someone, it makes you feel better... you don't care how they feel.

Heard that crap before and that doesn't answer or help anything. "Got any better bright ideas" than laughing at people who didn't ask to be laughed at?

Clue for you, don't assume people are that stupid. Right now I see that you, and others are and making people losers... you don't even give them a chance. You'r right... in your "win-win-win-win-lose" situation. You insinuation above implies you just want me to be the loser. Ok, you win-win-win-win-win-I-Lose Happy?

so if you are .. then are you done with the bonds yet and is the money gone and should people walk away from this?

I would assume the answer is yes but... just so's we can see it in print ^^

Sure, when you make irrelevant comments or bad analogies REPEATEDLY, I can point them out. When they are outlandish to the extreme, I don't think "subtle hyperbole" in a response would work.

I mean, you spent, what, 20 pages trying to convince people that "Face Value" of a bond means something other than the value of the bond on its "face". How much sillier can it get?

From: someone
Another insinuation? Surely you equivocally jest.

No, it's called a "sarcastic summarization" with a flourish of hyperbole mixed in for good effect. The sarcasm is due in large part, again, because it was both an irrelevant AND an incorrect analogy the FIRST time it was used. There's nothing equivocal about it, since I have never stated it was otherwise. I've been quite consistent on my nit-picking of your abuse of terminology and bad analogies.

From: someone

Laughter is the best medicine for what ails you. I can laugh at my mistakes, and often do. I only cry over them when I make them again. Fortunately, I don't have to cry very often.

If you're looking for sympathy for being someone taken in by Ginko, perhaps you should try defending him less and trying to paint the situation as something other than what it is so that other people get taken in to cover for your error(s) in judgment. I mean, after all, if you get yours, what does it matter if someone else down the line gets stuck with an even bigger loss? Right?

I suppose the last point here is that we aren't discussing /feelings/, we're discussing /facts/; the latter usually have no truck with the former. Now, if you want to start discussing your feelings, feel free.

From: someone

I've yet to laugh "at" anyone. I HAVE been laughing at what people have been SAYING. Do I think that it is funny that people lost big in Ginko or in the Child Welfare System? No. Do I think that it is funny that people make silly, useless analogies and spend PAGES of argument trying to redefine well-known and well-understood terms in an attempt to defend it? You BETCHA! Priceless entertainment.

From: someone

I don't assume anyone is stupid until they prove it to me beyond the shadow of a doubt, repeatedly. No one here can make anyone any more of a loser in this deal than they already are. The only thing anyone can do is to show that there is a way to continue to lose on the deal, by allowing it to continue. There won't be any winners without more and bigger subsequent losers. The money HAS to come from somewhere. It can't just appear out of thin air (unless the Lindens are gonna loan Nick P their account database password for a bit).

BTW, if you'r going to read other things I post on other threads... don't mock it.

*shrug* I mock what is, deserves, and is begging to be, mocked. Pointing out absurdity is fun; just like picking nits. Both are often very tasty! :D

Just remember, Nick, errr.. I mean, Dzon, the last one to keep a sense of humour about it all wins. :P Wins what, I dunno, but that was what was in the script, so....

Colette is a perfect example of someone that has shown their continual insults. ESL, EST... very childish.

Since you can't take any effort not insult and just discuss the facts, it's worthless to discuss anything.

I can not even understand why people are still talking about these junk bonds.

Here let me answer this for all....

Ginko took your money and now the guy is sipping on tropical drinks in Mexico on the beach.

And now he has a big smile because not only did he rip you once but now he is doing it again with the bonds.

The bank was fake
The bonds are junk
And you will never see your money again

Let it go and take it asa a learning issue.
